Our SEO audit is a fixed-scope, fixed-price product: one flat quote before you commit, delivered as a written report within 10 business days, covering your site’s technical health, content, links, and local visibility — ending in a prioritized fix list you can execute with your own developer, another agency, or us. It does not auto-convert into a retainer, and we’ll say that again lower down because almost no agency means it.
What’s included — the deliverable, item by item
| Section | What we examine | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Technical crawl | Indexing coverage, crawl errors, speed, mobile rendering, redirects, duplicate pages, structured data, the silent killers (noindex tags, robots blocks) | Every issue found, with severity and the specific fix |
| Content review | Your pages against what your buyers actually search — gaps, cannibalization, thin pages, titles and headings | A page-by-page verdict: keep, improve, merge, or build |
| Local visibility | Google Business Profile completeness, review position, citation consistency, map-pack standing vs the three businesses beating you | Your local scorecard and the ordered fixes |
| Links & authority | Your backlink profile and your competitors’ — including any junk a past agency left behind | An honest read on your authority gap and what closing it takes |
| Measurement check | GA4, Search Console, and conversion tracking — whether you can trust your own numbers | What’s broken and how to fix it, in your accounts |
| The fix list | Everything above, forced into one ranked sequence | A prioritized, plain-English action list — the part you’re actually buying |
The price: fixed, quoted up front
One flat number, in writing, before you pay anything — send us your URL and the quote arrives the same business day. No “audits from…” asterisk, no upsell call required to get the number, no hourly meter. If your site is unusually large (thousands of URLs, multi-site), the quote says so up front — still fixed. For calibration: real manual audits across the market commonly run from several hundred dollars to several thousand depending on depth; the free ones are automated scans (useful, limited — see the FAQ), and anything priced like a rounding error is one.
Who buys this — the three usual situations
Pattern one: the second opinion. You’re paying a retainer somewhere and can’t tell what it buys; the audit reads the actual state of the work, without the drama. Pattern two: the fork in the road. Traffic is flat or falling and you’re deciding between a redesign, an SEO engagement, or leaving it alone — the audit is the cheapest way to make that call with evidence. Pattern three: the handover. New site, new owner, or a developer who’s moved on, and nobody knows what’s under the hood. All three get the same document; what differs is which section you’ll read first.
The audit is yours — take it anywhere
This is the clause that makes the product honest: the report is written so that any competent developer or agency can execute it. No proprietary jargon, no “call us to decode section 4,” no fixes described vaguely so you have to hire the author. Buyers get burned by audits that are really sales documents — ten pages of red warning graphics and one page of “hire us.” Ours is the inverse: the sales pitch is the quality of the document. Take it to a competitor; genuinely fine. Some of our best clients did it the other way around — arrived holding someone else’s audit and asked us to execute it.
Technical SEO audit checklist — run the first pass yourself
You can check the most common problems in about an hour, free. This is the first pass of our own process; the paid audit goes deeper on every line, but if you find your problem here, you may not need us yet:
- Search Google for
site:yourdomain.com. If nothing appears, indexing is your entire problem — start with why is my website not showing up on Google. - Compare the number of pages indexed to the number you actually have. A big gap either way signals trouble (missing pages, or junk pages diluting you).
- Open Search Console → Pages. Read the reasons Google gives for excluded pages.
- Check your homepage and top pages for a
noindextag and your robots.txt for accidental blocks. - Run your homepage through PageSpeed Insights, on mobile. Note the real-user metrics, not just the lab score.
- Click through your site on a phone. Menus, forms, tap targets — as a customer, not the owner.
- Check every page has a unique, descriptive title tag — and that your site has a site name set at all (an empty site title breaks every title tag; we’ve seen it kill entire sites’ click-through).
- Look for duplicate pages: http vs https, www vs non-www, trailing-slash twins, staging copies.
- Follow your own redirects: old URLs should 301 once, directly, to the live page.
- Search your brand name. If your own site isn’t first, something is wrong.
- Check your Google Business Profile: right category, current hours, recent photos, unanswered reviews.
- Search your top three money keywords and read what actually ranks — is it pages like yours, or a different intent entirely?
- Open your GA4: is traffic being recorded at all, and are conversions defined?
- Check your contact forms by submitting one. (You’d be amazed.)
- Look at your blog’s last publish date — a site frozen for years reads as abandoned to users and algorithms alike.
Found scary things and want the full diagnosis with a fix sequence? That’s the product on this page.
Not ready for a paid audit?
Start smaller, free: send us your URL and we’ll run a visibility check — is your site indexed, is anything catastrophic blocking it, is your profile visible — and email you the answer in plain English, same business day. No report theater, no follow-up sequence. If the check turns up real problems, this audit is the next step; if it doesn’t, we’ll say so.
The exit terms, in one sentence
Everything we sell is month-to-month: email us before your next billing date, pay nothing further, and keep everything we built — that is the entire cancellation policy.
For the audit specifically that means: one fixed payment, one deliverable, no auto-renewal, no retainer conversion, no “implementation call” ambush. If you want us to execute the fix list afterward, that’s a separate decision you make with the document already in your hands — see small business SEO services and what SEO costs.
What it costs: SEO Audit Service
SEO is sold as a retainer sized to the market you compete in. For SEO Audit Service, the tiers below are the planning ranges from our marketing agency pricing guide and our SEO engagement models; the right tier follows an audit of the site and the competition, and the quote follows that.
| Engagement | Typical range | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Local SEO, one location | $1,000–$2,500 / month | Google Business Profile, reviews, local pages, technical fixes |
| Local SEO, multi-location | $2,000–$6,000 / month | Location pages, listings, duplicate suppression |
| Organic SEO, content-led | $2,000–$6,000 / month | Content program, technical remediation, internal links |
| Ecommerce SEO | $2,500–$8,000 / month | Catalog structure, faceted navigation, product content |
| Technical SEO audit | $1,500–$6,000 one-off | Diagnosis and a prioritized fix list |
| Digital PR and link acquisition | $1,500–$10,000 / month | Outreach and asset production |
Ranges are US planning figures, not quotes. Every engagement is priced after a written scope, and the planning range tells you which tier the conversation starts in.
Frequently asked questions
What does an SEO audit include?
A complete audit includes a technical crawl (indexing, speed, mobile, structured data, errors), a content review against real search demand, a local visibility check, a backlink review, a measurement check, and a prioritized fix list. If a quoted “audit” is a free automated PDF from a scanning tool, it’s a lead magnet, not an audit — useful for a first look, not for decisions.
How long does an SEO audit take?
Ours is delivered within 10 business days of getting access. Rushing an audit to 48 hours generally means a tool export with a logo on it; stretching it to months means you’re funding someone’s backlog. Ten days is what genuine manual review of a small-business site takes.
Do I have to hire you after the audit?
No — and the report is deliberately written so you don’t have to. It’s a standalone product: fixed price, complete deliverable, executable by anyone competent. About half of audit buyers do continue with us; the other half execute elsewhere, and both outcomes are fine. The audit’s job is to be worth its price either way.
Can you audit a site a previous agency worked on?
Yes — that’s the most common audit we run. We’ll document what was actually done (or not done), flag anything harmful like junk links, and give you the honest state of things without the drama. You’ll finally know what those monthly reports were describing.
I got a cold email saying my website has critical SEO errors. Is it legit?
Almost never. The mass-scan cold email is a lead-generation template: an automated tool flags generic “errors” (many cosmetic or false), the language is designed to frighten, and the sender’s plan is a cheap retainer of junk work. Real evidence of a problem is specific and checkable — a named page, a named issue, a verifiable symptom. If one of those emails has you worried, run the free checklist above; it covers everything the scan claims to, without the sales funnel.
Is a free SEO audit worth anything?
As a first look, sometimes — automated scans catch broken links and missing tags. What they can’t do is judgment: which issues actually matter for your market, what order to fix them in, and what’s fine to ignore. The tell is the output: a free audit that ends in a wall of red warnings and a sales call is a lead magnet doing its job. Use ours or anyone’s free check to decide whether a real audit is warranted — that’s what they’re honestly for.
You talk to the people doing the work
No handoff to a junior account manager. The person you meet on the first call is the person who works on your account, and you hear back the same business day.
Fixed price. Ten days. Yours to keep. Send your URL for the quote — or start with the free visibility check above. Either way, you’ll hear back the same business day.
What is an SEO audit service?
A structured review of a website against the things that determine whether it can rank: whether search engines can crawl and index it, whether the content answers what people search for, whether the site is technically sound, and whether anything is actively suppressing it.
The output most audits produce is a list of issues, often a long one, generated by a crawler. That is the raw material, not the product. A three-hundred-issue report where a missing alt attribute sits beside a noindex tag on your money page is not an audit; it is a data export. The value is entirely in the judgement applied afterwards: which five things, done in which order, would change the outcome.
What does a technical SEO audit cover?
Crawling and indexation, rendering, site speed, site architecture, structured data, canonicalisation, redirects and status codes, and increasingly whether AI crawlers can reach and parse the content.
Crawl and index
Whether search engines can reach your pages and whether they chose to index them. Pages that are crawled and deliberately not indexed are a signal worth reading.
Rendering
Whether content exists in the HTML or only after JavaScript runs. This one now matters twice, because AI crawlers are far less forgiving here than Googlebot.
Speed
Core Web Vitals measured on real pages rather than on a homepage nobody lands on.
Architecture
Whether important pages are reachable in a few clicks and whether internal linking reflects what actually matters commercially.
Structured data
Whether markup is valid and, more importantly, whether it agrees with the visible page. Contradictory markup is worse than none.
Redirects and status codes
Chains, loops, soft 404s, and anything returning a different status to a bot than to a browser.
What should an SEO audit deliverable look like?
A short prioritised list of what to fix and why, with each item traceable to evidence, plus the raw crawl data underneath for whoever implements it. If the summary is longer than a few pages, the prioritisation has not been done.
Insist that every recommendation names the expected effect. 'Fix this heading structure' is an instruction; 'these six pages compete for the same query and should be merged, which consolidates the signals currently split across them' is a recommendation. The second tells you whether it is worth the developer time.
How do you choose an SEO audit service company?
Ask what tools they run, then ask what they do after the tools finish. Any provider can export a crawl; the ones worth paying add the judgement about sequence and expected effect, and will tell you which issues in the export do not matter for your site.
Ask for a redacted example of a previous audit. If it is a branded crawler export with a cover page, you know what you would be buying.
What separates a real audit from a crawler export
| Crawler export | Audit | |
|---|---|---|
| Issue list | Everything found, unranked | Prioritised, with the rest as an appendix |
| Prioritisation | By severity label | By expected effect on this business |
| Evidence | The tool said so | Traced to logs, rendering or search data |
| Recommendations | Generic remediation text | Specific to your templates and platform |
| What is excluded | Nothing | Explicitly says which issues do not matter here |
| Implementation | Left to you | Sequenced, with dependencies noted |
Frequently asked questions
What is an SEO audit service?
A structured review of why a site is not earning the search traffic it should, returning a prioritised list of what to fix and in what order.
What is a technical SEO audit service?
An audit focused on how the site is built: crawling, indexation, rendering, speed, architecture, structured data, redirects and status codes.
How much does an SEO audit cost?
It scales with site size and template count rather than page count, because failures cluster by template. A large site with four templates is less work than a small one with fifteen.
How long does an SEO audit take?
One to three weeks for most sites. The crawl takes hours; the judgement about sequence and expected effect is what takes the time.
What is included in a website SEO audit service?
Technical checks, content and keyword coverage, internal linking, indexation, and a review of anything actively suppressing the site. The deliverable should be prioritised, not exhaustive.
How often should you run an SEO audit?
Annually for a stable site, and after any redesign, replatform or major content change. A full audit every quarter usually re-finds the same issues.
Can I audit my own site?
The crawl, yes — the tools are accessible. The prioritisation is the hard part, because it needs judgement about which of three hundred findings actually change anything.
What tools are used in an SEO audit?
A crawler, Search Console, a rendering check, a schema validator and server logs. No single platform covers all of them, and a provider who names only one tool is doing one check.
Does an SEO audit include AI search visibility?
It should now. Whether AI crawlers can reach and parse the site is a technical question and belongs in the technical audit rather than in a separate engagement.
Will an audit fix my rankings?
No. An audit tells you what to fix. Rankings move when the fixes are implemented, which is a separate piece of work and usually the larger one.
What is the difference between an SEO audit and a content audit?
A technical audit asks whether the site can rank. A content audit asks whether it deserves to. Most sites need both and usually need the technical one first.
Should the audit come from the same agency that implements it?
Not necessarily, and there is an argument for separation — an auditor who will also be paid to implement has an incentive to find a lot of work.
