Snapchat Marketing Agency: Snapchat Ads Planned, Produced and Measured for Brands That Sell to Adults

Updated October 2026 · Written and maintained by the Progression Agency strategy team

A snapchat marketing agency plans, builds the creative for and runs Snapchat advertising for a brand, then measures it against the brand’s other channels in sales, leads and cost per result. We work with ecommerce brands, apps, restaurants and retailers, entertainment companies, adult education and service businesses that sell to adults, and we deliver tracking, creative, campaigns and reporting. Every campaign we run targets people 18 and over. Progression Agency is based in New York City and works with clients across the United States and worldwide.

The short answerSnapchat marketing for a brand is mostly paid: full-screen vertical video and image ads, Story Ads, Collection Ads, Dynamic Product Ads from a catalog, Sponsored Lenses and Commercials, bought in Snap’s auction through Ads Manager. The work is tracking with the Snap Pixel and Conversions API, adult audience targeting, a steady supply of new creative and weekly optimization. We judge it on cost per sale or lead against your other channels. A first test needs four to eight weeks, and Snap’s own minimum is $5 a day in media spend, paid to Snap.

Snap platform, policy and audience details were read on Snap’s business help, policy and investor pages and the FTC’s rules in October 2026 and may change. Prices come from Progression’s own published social media packages, and each quote is based on a written scope.

What does a Snapchat advertising agency do?

A Snapchat advertising agency sets up the accounts and tracking, writes and produces creative that works in the first seconds, builds campaigns for the right objective, manages bids and budgets and reports results against your other channels. Media spend is paid to Snap; the agency is paid for the work.

Single: Image or video ads. Full screen, between content.
Story: Story Ads. A tappable series of Snaps.
Shop: Collection Ads. Products under the video.
Catalog: Dynamic Product Ads. Built from your product feed.
AR: Sponsored Lenses. The camera as the ad.
6 sec: Commercials. Non-skippable for six seconds.

Who hires a snapchat ad agency

Marketing leads and owners of brands whose buyers are adults under about 35: ecommerce, apps and games for adults, restaurants and retail, entertainment and events, adult education and consumer services. Some come to add a channel; others have run ads themselves and want better tracking and creative.

What a Snapchat marketing company does not do

It does not run campaigns aimed at minors, promise follower counts or views, or keep the ad account in its own name. It also does not cover categories we decline, such as adult content or firearms, and Snap itself prohibits ads for weapons and ammunition.

Snapchat advertising services alongside other paid social

Most brands run Snapchat beside Meta, TikTok or YouTube, not instead of them. Our social media advertising page compares the platforms and keeps its own Snapchat section; this page goes deeper on Snapchat alone.

Can snapchat be used for business, and who is it right for?

Yes. Any business can open a business account and Public Profile and advertise through Ads Manager, subject to Snap’s ad policies. It suits brands whose buyers are younger adults and whose product can be shown well in a short vertical video.

Snap reported 493 million daily active users worldwide in the second quarter of 2026, up 5% on a year earlier, with 92 million of them in North America. Snap’s own advertising pitch centers on people aged 13 to 34, which is why we set every campaign to adults 18 and over and build creative for adult buyers only.

Where Snapchat is strong

Full-screen attention between Stories and Spotlight content, camera and AR formats no other platform offers in the same way, a catalog format for shops and Sponsored Snaps that land in the Chat tab. It works for impulse and mobile purchases, app installs, launches and local visits.

When Snapchat is the wrong channel

When buyers are mostly older, when the sale is a long B2B process better served by our LinkedIn ads agency work, when the site cannot yet track a purchase or lead, or when the brand cannot produce new vertical video every month. In those cases we say so and suggest a different starting point.

Snapchat ads for small business

A small business can test Snapchat with a modest budget if it has one clear offer, a phone-friendly site and a few short videos. Local restaurants and shops can use location targeting and the Promote Places option in awareness campaigns. Keep the test small and give it a decision date.

Snapchat ads for ecommerce

Shops with a product feed can run Dynamic Product Ads and Collection Ads, retarget site visitors with the products they viewed and find new buyers through lookalikes. Our ecommerce marketing agency page covers the wider acquisition and retention program.

Snapchat ad formats and what each is for

Snap offers single image or video ads, Story Ads, Collection Ads, Dynamic Product Ads, Sponsored Snaps, Commercials, Sponsored AR Lenses and AR Filters. Pick the format by the job: a sale, an install, a visit or awareness.

Single image or video ads, and the Spotlight placement

The workhorse format. Snap lists its ad formats with single image or video as the recommended starting point, and the same ad can run in Spotlight, which Snap treats as a placement rather than a separate format. Snapchat spotlight ads are therefore a placement choice inside a normal campaign.

Snapchat story ads

Story Ads suit a range of products, a recipe or a how-it-works sequence. Every card needs its own reason to tap, because many people leave after the first.

Snapchat collection ads

A video or image on top and product tiles below. They work best when the products in the video are the products in the tiles.

Dynamic Product Ads from a catalog

Snap builds dynamic ads from a product catalog and uses the Snap Pixel or a mobile measurement partner to match products to people. The feed’s titles, prices and images are the creative, so feed quality decides results.

Snapchat lens advertising and filters

Sponsored AR Lenses put the brand in the camera: a try-on, a game or a transformation. Filters are lighter overlays for events and places. For filter design and how filters differ from lenses, see our Snapchat photo filters page.

Commercials

Snap Commercials are non-skippable for up to six seconds. Standard Commercials run three to six seconds; longer versions keep only the first six seconds non-skippable, so the brand and message must land inside that window.

Snapchat advertising specs and creative that works

Snapchat creative is vertical, full screen, sound-on and fast. Build for a 9:16 canvas at 1080 by 1920 pixels, put the hook in the first second and keep text away from the top and bottom of the frame.

Snapchat advertising specs for single image or video ads
SpecRequirementWhat we do with it

Video files.mp4 or .mov, H.264, 1 GB or lessShort files that load fast on mobile data
Image files.jpg or .png, 5 MB or less, at least 720 x 1280One clear product image per frame
Video lengthAs short as 3 secondsMost tests run 5 to 15 seconds
HeadlineUp to 34 charactersOne benefit, no stacked claims
Safe zoneKeep the top 150 and bottom 330 pixels clearLogos and captions inside the safe area

Snap updates its single image or video specs and creative best practices from time to time, so we check the current pages before each production run.

The first second decides the result

People swipe fast. Open on the product, a face or a question, not a logo card. Snap’s own guidance favors short creative, and the hook is usually the variable worth changing most often.

Sound on, captions on

Snapchat is a sound-on app, but captions still carry the message for anyone watching quietly. Burn captions into every video.

Native-looking content beats polished ads

Phone-shot, person-to-camera video often outperforms studio work on Snapchat because it looks like the content around it. We plan both: a few polished assets and more native ones.

A testing plan, not a single ad

For each offer we produce several hooks, two or three formats and at least one creator version, test them side by side and keep the winners running while the next batch is made.

Are Snapchat ads targeted? The options and the adult-only rule

Yes. Snap’s standard targeting covers age, gender, language, location and device, with predefined audiences and custom audiences on top. Every ad set we build is limited to people 18 and over.

Snapchat targeting options and how we use them
OptionWhat it doesHow we use it
AgeSets the age range of the audience18 and over on every ad set; 21 and over for alcohol in the US

Lookalike audiencesPeople similar to a seed list, Pixel or third-party audienceProspecting from your best customers

Engagement audiencesPeople who engaged with ads or your Public ProfileWarm audiences for a second message

Demographics, location and language

Snap’s standard targeting page lists age range, gender, language, geography down to postal codes and radius, and device. Ads for age-restricted products must use age targeting.

Predefined audiences

Snap’s predefined audiences sort people by lifestyles, shopping, viewing and places visited. They are a starting point; your own data usually does better.

Customer lists and lookalikes

Snap’s custom audiences include customer lists, lookalikes, website and app visitors, ad and profile engagement and third-party audiences. Lookalikes come in similarity, balance and reach sizes and need a seed audience. Upload only lists you are allowed to use for advertising.

Nothing aimed at minors

Snapchat is a 13-and-over app, and Snap’s general ad requirements reject ads aimed at children under 13. Our own rule goes further: adult audiences only, adult casting and no creative designed to appeal to teenagers.

The Snap Pixel and Conversions API

Without tracking, Snap cannot find buyers and you cannot judge the spend. The Snap Pixel records actions in the browser; the Conversions API sends the same events from your server. Snap recommends running both.

Snapchat tracking pieces and what each does
PieceWhat it doesSetup notes

CatalogProduct feed for Dynamic Product AdsPrices, stock and images kept in sync
Mobile measurement partnerApp install and in-app event trackingNeeded for app campaigns

Snapchat pixel

Snap describes the Snap Pixel as free browser code that measures what people do after seeing or tapping an ad. We install it, test every event and remove duplicates before any campaign spends.

Snapchat conversions API

Snap’s Conversions API passes web, app and offline events through a server-to-server connection, directly or through a partner. It fills gaps left by browsers and ad blockers and lets offline sales feed optimization.

Data and privacy

Send only the data your privacy policy covers, upload customer lists only where you have the right to use them for advertising and keep consent settings working for visitors in regions with stricter laws.

How we build and run a Snapchat campaign

In order: accounts in your name, tracking, audiences, creative, campaign structure and bids, then weekly iteration. Skipping the tracking step is the most common reason a Snapchat test fails.

Pixel: Snap Pixel installed. Browser events mapped.
CAPI: Conversions API live. Server events, deduplicated.
18+: Adult audiences only. Age set on every ad set.
Hooks: Creative tested weekly. New first seconds, same offer.
Budget: Test sized to learn. Enough conversions to judge.
Report: Against other channels. Cost per sale, not views.

Business account, Public Profile and Business Manager

Snap asks advertisers to set up a Snapchat account, a business account and a Public Profile, and a payment method is requested when the first ad launches. Business Manager roles let the brand add the agency as a member while keeping ownership.

Objective, goal and bid

Choose the objective that matches the result you want, such as awareness, app installs, leads or sales. Snap’s sales objective optimizes toward web conversions such as purchase or add to cart. Snap’s bidding strategies include auto-bidding and a max bid, and new campaigns pass through a learning phase that typically lasts one to seven days.

Budget and structure

Fewer ad sets with enough budget learn faster than many small ones. Give each test enough budget to reach a useful number of conversions, and avoid editing it daily during the learning phase.

Snapchat lead generation ads

For service businesses, lead forms keep people inside Snapchat. Ask for as little as possible, send leads to the CRM in real time and call them quickly, because a lead that waits a day is usually lost.

Snapchat ads management week to week

Daily checks on spend and delivery, weekly creative refresh and budget moves, monthly reporting and a quarterly review of the whole channel against your others.

Measuring Snapchat: attribution, incrementality and channel comparison

Measure Snapchat in the same currency as your other channels: cost per purchase, cost per lead or return on ad spend. Then test whether the results would have happened anyway.

Attribution windows

Snap’s attribution window defaults to 28 days after a tap and 1 day after a view. Other platforms use other defaults, so line the windows up before comparing results.

Incrementality

When spend allows, we run a holdout or geographic test to see how many sales Snapchat adds rather than takes credit for. Our marketing analytics agency work covers the wider method.

Do snapchat ads work for every brand?

No. They work when the audience, the product and the creative fit and the tracking is sound. A fair test with a decision date answers the question for your brand better than any general claim.

Snapchat advertising cost: how pricing works

Snapchat ads are bought in an auction, so the price of a view, tap or sale depends on your audience, creative and bid. Snap sets a minimum of $5 a day in spend and recommends $20 to $50 a day to start. The agency fee is separate.

Snap’s advertising pricing page states the $5 daily minimum and the $20 to $50 suggestion, and Snap allows daily or lifetime budgets. Snap does not publish a standard cost per click or cost per thousand views, because the auction sets them for each campaign.

Snapchat advertising pricing in the auction

Auto-bidding lets Snap aim for the most results within the budget; a max bid caps what you pay for an action. Better creative and tighter tracking usually lower the cost per result more than bid changes do.

How to budget a test

Size the test so the campaign can record enough conversions to judge, run it for four to eight weeks and decide in writing. A test that is too small to learn is the most expensive kind.

Snapchat ads cost per click

There is no fixed figure; it changes with audience, objective, creative and season. We report cost per click as a diagnostic and judge the campaign on cost per sale or lead.

How much does a snapchat marketing agency cost with Progression?

We manage Snapchat inside a paid social program. Our published Program package is $3,400 a month and covers two to three platforms, video and full paid management; ad spend goes to the platform, not to us. A Snapchat-only engagement is quoted after a written scope.

Progression social media packages that include paid management
PackagePrice per monthWhat it covers
Presence$850One platform, 8 posts, basic graphics, monthly report
Growth$1,850Two platforms, 16 posts, original graphics, community management, strategy, small paid budget managed
Program$3,400Two to three platforms, video, full paid management, quarterly strategy, analytics depth

What is not in the package price

Media spend, which you pay to Snap. Creator fees and production beyond what the package states, quoted separately. Lenses and larger shoots are scoped as projects.

Snapchat-only management

If Snapchat is the only channel we run for you, we quote it from the creative volume, tracking work and reporting you need. Full detail on the packages is on our social media marketing pricing page.

Tracking and analytics as a one-off

Snapchat influencer marketing and creator content for adult audiences

Creators make Snapchat ads feel native. We brief adult creators, agree usage rights in writing and make sure every paid post is labeled as a paid partnership.

Disclosure rules

Snap’s Commercial Content Policy, in effect from July 2, 2026, requires creators to label paid or gifted content with Snap’s paid partnership tool. In the US, the FTC’s Endorsement Guides also require clear and conspicuous disclosure of any material connection.

Choosing creators

We pick creators whose audience is adult and matches the buyer, and avoid creators whose following is mostly teenagers. Ask for audience age data before agreeing terms. Our influencer marketing agency page covers creator programs across platforms.

Snapchat influencer marketing agency work versus paid ads

Creator posts build reach and trust; paid ads using creator footage scale what works. We usually plan both together and measure them the same way.

Snapchat ad policy and regulated categories

Snap reviews every ad. Regulated categories need age targeting, pre-approval or both, and some are prohibited. We build campaigns inside these rules and check the current policy pages before launch.

Snapchat ad policy requirements by category
CategoryWhat Snap requiresHow we handle it
AlcoholAge targeting to the legal drinking age, 21 and over in the US21 and over, responsible messaging
GamblingPre-approval by Snap and proof of licenseOnly licensed operators, after approval
DatingAge targeting 18 and overAdult audiences only
Health and supplementsPre-approval for prescription, over-the-counter and supplement adsApproval first, claims reviewed
Financial productsMaterial terms disclosed; complex products need approvalTerms on the landing page, approval where needed
Political and advocacyA paid-for-by message and case-by-case reviewSubmitted for Snap’s review before launch
Weapons and ammunitionProhibitedNot accepted

Where the rules live

Snap publishes category rules for regulated goods, gambling, financial products and health. They change, so we read them again before each launch in a regulated category.

Claims and landing pages

The ad and the page it leads to must match. Prices, offers and terms on the ad must be on the landing page, and health or money claims need support. We review both before submission.

Reusing creative across platforms

Vertical edits travel, but each platform has its own safe zones and pacing. Our TikTok ads agency, Instagram ads agency and YouTube ads agency pages cover the other placements.

Organic Snapchat social media marketing

A Public Profile, Stories and Spotlight posts can support paid work, but for most brands organic Snapchat is a small part of the plan. Organic social across platforms is covered on our social media marketing page.

AI answers: how brands choose among snapchat agencies

Marketing leads now ask ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and Google AI Overviews which Snapchat agencies to hire, what Snapchat ads cost and whether they work. The assistants answer from pages and directories they can read and trust.

What the assistants tend to cite

Snap’s own business help pages, agency service pages with clear scope and prices, review directories, comparison articles and case studies with named results. Pages that state formats, setup steps and costs plainly are easier to quote.

What a brand should publish to be named

If you sell to adults on Snapchat, clear product pages, a consistent brand description across your site and profiles, and honest reviews help assistants describe you correctly. Our AEO services cover the method.

How to choose a Snapchat ads agency

Choose one that sets up tracking before spending, produces enough creative, reports in cost per result against your other channels, keeps accounts in your name and refuses to target minors. Ask for each in writing.

Questions to ask before you hire a snapchat ads agency

These show quickly whether an agency knows the platform.

  • How would you test Snapchat for us, and how would we decide if it worked?
  • What tracking would you install before the first ad runs?
  • How many new creatives would we see each month?
  • How do you make sure no ad reaches people under 18?
  • How do you compare Snapchat results with Meta or TikTok?
  • Who owns the ad account, Pixel and creative if we stop?

Red flags

Guaranteed results, fees bundled with media spend, ad accounts in the agency’s name, no Conversions API plan, recycled horizontal ads and creators whose audiences are mostly minors.

Snapchat ads specialist, freelancer or agency?

A freelancer can run campaigns; an agency adds tracking, creative production and cross-channel measurement. Judge by the test plan and the sample report.

How long does it take for Snapchat ads to work?

Expect setup in the first two weeks, a learning phase of one to seven days per campaign and a fair read on results in four to eight weeks. Decide to keep, grow or stop at about ninety days.

Frequently asked questions

Which jobs does a snapchat marketing agency handle, from account setup to the monthly report?
It sets up the business account, Pixel and Conversions API, plans the test, writes and produces vertical creative, builds and manages campaigns, works with creators where useful and reports cost per sale or lead against your other channels. Media spend goes to Snap; the agency fee pays for the work.
Are Snapchat ads worth it for a brand selling to adults?
They can be when your buyers are younger adults, the product sells well on a phone and you can produce new vertical video every month. They are rarely worth it for brands selling mainly to people over 55 or for long B2B sales. A four to eight week test with a decision date gives the answer.
How effective are Snapchat ads compared with Meta or TikTok?
It depends on the brand. Snapchat can add buyers other platforms miss, especially younger adults, but results vary with creative and tracking. The fair comparison uses the same attribution windows and cost per result on each platform, plus a holdout test when spend allows.
Does Snapchat advertising work without the Conversions API?
It can run, but it works better with it. The Pixel alone misses some events, and Snap recommends using the Pixel and the Conversions API together. More complete conversion data helps Snap’s optimization and makes your reporting closer to your own sales records.
Can any business advertise on Snapchat?
Most can. You need a Snapchat account, a business account and a Public Profile, and Snap asks for a payment method at the first ad launch. Ads must follow Snap’s policies: some categories need age targeting or pre-approval, and some, such as weapons and ammunition, are prohibited.
Is snapchat marketing worth it for a local shop or restaurant with a small budget?
Sometimes. A local restaurant, shop or service with one clear offer, a phone-friendly site and a few short videos can test it from a modest daily budget. If the business cannot track a sale or a lead online, fix that first, because otherwise there is no way to tell whether the spend worked.
Is Snapchat a good platform for marketing to people over 35?
It is usually not the first choice. Snap’s own advertising pitch centers on people aged 13 to 34, so brands whose buyers are mostly older often reach them more cheaply elsewhere. Brands with mixed audiences can still test it for the younger adult share of their buyers.
How much does advertising on snapchat cost, including the agency fee?
Snap’s minimum is $5 a day in media spend, and Snap suggests $20 to $50 a day to start. The auction sets the price of each view, tap or sale. Agency management is separate: with Progression, Snapchat sits inside our $3,400 a month Program package, and a Snapchat-only scope is quoted.
How much should a brand budget for Snapchat ads per month?
Enough for each test campaign to record a useful number of conversions within four to eight weeks. For many brands that means more than the $5 daily minimum, so work back from your target cost per sale. Add creative production and management fees, which are separate from the spend paid to Snap.
What is a typical Snapchat ads cost per click?
There is no standard figure. Snap does not publish one, because the auction prices each click by audience, objective, creative and competition. We track cost per click to diagnose creative and audience problems, but we judge campaigns on cost per sale, lead or install.
Are snapchat ads targeted, and by what?
Age, gender, language, location down to postal codes or a radius and device, plus Snap’s predefined lifestyle and shopper audiences, customer lists, lookalikes, website and app visitors and engagement audiences. We set every ad set to 18 and over and build most prospecting from the brand’s own customer data.
Which Snapchat ad format should a brand start with?
Usually single image or video ads, which Snap treats as its starter format, run in Stories and Spotlight placements. Shops with a catalog should add Dynamic Product Ads early. Story Ads, Collection Ads, Commercials and Sponsored Lenses follow once the first test shows what the audience responds to.
What are the Snapchat video ad specs?
A 9:16 full-screen canvas at 1080 by 1920 pixels, video as .mp4 or .mov with H.264 up to 1 GB, images as .jpg or .png up to 5 MB, a headline up to 34 characters and the top 150 and bottom 330 pixels kept clear. Check Snap’s current spec page before each production run.
How many weeks does a Snapchat test need before you can judge it?
Setup takes about two weeks, each new campaign passes through a learning phase of typically one to seven days, and a fair read on cost per result needs four to eight weeks of running. We make a keep, grow or stop recommendation at around ninety days.
Do you work with Snapchat creators and influencers?
Yes, adult creators whose audiences match the buyer. We brief them, agree usage rights in writing and require Snap’s paid partnership label, which Snap’s Commercial Content Policy requires from July 2, 2026, plus the clear disclosure the FTC’s Endorsement Guides call for in the US.
Can Snapchat ads be used to reach teenagers?
Not by us. Snapchat is a 13-and-over app, but we run every campaign to adults 18 and over, cast adults and avoid creative designed to appeal to teenagers. Brands whose product is meant for minors are not a fit for our Snapchat service.
Does a brand need a Public Profile before it can run Snapchat ads?
Yes. Snap’s setup steps call for a Snapchat account, a business account and a Public Profile before ads launch, and a payment method is requested when the first ad goes live. We set these up in the brand’s name, so the profile, audiences and ad history stay with the brand if the agency ever changes.
How is a snapchat ads agency paid?
By a management fee for strategy, creative and campaign work, separate from media spend, which you pay to Snap from your own ad account. Avoid agencies that bundle the two or take a cut of spend without showing it, because you cannot see what management actually costs.
Should the agency or the brand hold the Snapchat business account and Pixel?
The brand. The business account, Ads Manager, Pixel, catalog and creative should all be in your name, with the agency added as a member through Business Manager roles. If you change agencies, you keep the history, audiences and data.
What attribution window does Snapchat use?
Snap’s default and recommended setting is 28 days after a tap and 1 day after a view, and Ads Manager can report click-through and view-through results separately. Line these windows up with your other platforms before comparing their results.
Can regulated brands like alcohol or supplements advertise on Snapchat?
With conditions. Alcohol ads must be age targeted to the legal drinking age, 21 and over in the US. Prescription, over-the-counter and supplement advertisers need Snap’s pre-approval, gambling operators need approval and proof of license, and complex financial products need approval too.
Do you run Snapchat campaigns for brands outside the US?
Yes. Progression Agency is based in New York City and works with brands across the United States and worldwide. Campaigns, creative reviews and reports run remotely, and we follow the local age and ad rules for each country we target.
