Updated September 2026 · Written and maintained by the Progression Agency strategy team
Progression Agency provides spa website design for day spas, wellness and massage centers, medical spas, hotel and resort spas, float and sauna studios and multi-location spa brands across the United States and worldwide: a treatment menu that reads as calmly as the room feels, online booking through Mindbody, Vagaro, Boulevard, Zenoti, Book4Time or Mangomint, gift card and package sales that carry the slow months, and the compliance details a medical spa needs without losing the atmosphere.

- How Progression Agency builds spa websites
The short answerA spa website sells a feeling first and a treatment second, but it still has to book the appointment, sell the gift card and answer the practical questions (what to wear, when to arrive, what a treatment includes) before the guest calls. The build balances atmosphere with a booking flow that lands in the spa’s software. As planning figures, a custom spa website costs $9,000-$30,000 and takes 6-10 weeks; a small day spa on a builder $3,000-$9,000; a medical spa, resort spa or multi-location brand $30,000-$90,000.
Comparisons are based on each project’s official documentation as linked in the text. Progression Agency builds with all of the technologies compared and has no affiliate relationship with any of them.
What spa website design covers
Spa website design is the design and build of a website for a business that sells treatments and time: a day spa, a massage or wellness center, a medical spa offering injectables and energy-based treatments under medical direction, a hotel or resort spa, a float, sauna or cryotherapy studio, or a spa brand with several locations. The guest is usually planning a visit for themselves or buying one for someone else, which is why gift cards and packages matter as much as booking. The visitor wants to feel the place, understand the menu, know the price and the etiquette, and book or buy without a phone call.
Spa website design differs from salon website design in pace and in the questions: a spa guest asks what to expect and how to prepare, not which person to book with, and a medical spa guest asks about safety, credentials and results. The software is also different at the top end: Zenoti, Book4Time and SpaSoft run resort and multi-location spas, while Mindbody, Vagaro, Boulevard and Mangomint run most day spas. For the marketing that fills the book, see med spa marketing for medical spas and hotel marketing for resort spas.
What a spa website must contain
The section list below is what we build against for every spa. A medical spa adds a compliance layer described further down.
| Section | What it must show | Conversion |
|---|---|---|
| Home | The atmosphere, the signature treatments, the book and gift card buttons, location | Book or buy a gift card |
| Treatment menu | Every treatment with price, duration, what it includes and who it suits | Book a treatment |
| Packages and rituals | Half-day and full-day packages, couples, bridal, corporate | Book a package |
| Gift cards | Online gift cards by amount and by treatment, delivered by email or mail | Purchase |
| Memberships | Monthly massage or facial memberships with terms | Join |
| Facilities | Pools, saunas, steam, relaxation rooms, with photos and access rules | Trust and expectation |
| Spa etiquette and first visit | Arrival time, attire, phones, cancellation, health questions | Fewer calls and no-shows |
| Practitioners | Therapists, estheticians, and for med spas the medical director and providers with credentials | Trust |
| Location and hours | Address, parking, hotel access, hours, map | Directions |
| Reviews and press | Review embeds, awards the spa has actually received, press mentions | Trust |
| Retail | Product lines carried, online store where it makes sense | Sales between visits |
The menu has to be calm and complete at the same time
Spa menus fail in two directions: a beautiful PDF nobody can search, or a bare price list that kills the mood. We build the menu as structured pages, one per treatment category with each treatment’s price, duration, inclusions and who it suits, styled with the same restraint as the space. The menu stays readable by search engines and AI assistants, and the guest never sees a spreadsheet.
Gift cards and packages carry the slow months
A large share of spa revenue arrives as gifts before holidays and as packages before weddings and events, so the gift card page should be one tap from every page, sell by amount and by treatment, and deliver instantly by email. Packages need their own pages with what is included, timing, group size and the booking path, because they are what people search before an occasion.
Booking through the spa’s software
The book button should open the real booking flow from Mindbody, Vagaro, Boulevard, Zenoti, Mangomint, Book4Time or SpaSoft, preselecting the treatment the guest was reading about, collecting the intake questions the spa requires and taking the deposit the policy calls for. For a hotel or resort spa, booking may also need to connect to the property management system so guests can charge to the room.
Etiquette and preparation pages reduce calls
“What do I wear”, “when should I arrive”, “can I use the pool before my treatment” and “what if I am pregnant” are the questions the front desk answers all day. A first-visit page that answers them in the spa’s voice, linked from every booking confirmation, reduces calls and no-shows and is exactly the content AI assistants quote.
The medical spa layer
Medical spa website design adds credentials, safety and results to the atmosphere. The site must name the medical director and the providers with their licenses, describe each treatment’s candidacy, risks and downtime honestly, show before-and-after results only with written consent and without exaggerated claims, and handle intake forms and photos in a way that respects health privacy. Our med spa website design page covers this in depth, including consultation booking, financing and the review rules; this page covers the shared spa foundation and the day-spa and resort-spa variants.
Pages and structure we build for spas
| Section | Day spa | Hotel or resort spa |
|---|---|---|
| Home | Atmosphere, signature treatments, book, gift cards | Same, inside the property’s design system |
| Menu | 5-10 category pages, 20-60 treatments | Same plus in-room and poolside services |
| Packages | 3-10 pages | Packages tied to stays and events |
| Gift cards and memberships | 2-3 pages | Gift cards for stays and spa |
| Facilities | 1-3 pages | Pools, thermal circuit, fitness, access for non-guests |
| First visit and etiquette | 1-2 pages | Same plus guest and day-pass rules |
| Practitioners | 1 index plus profiles | Optional |
| Events and wellness programs | Optional | Retreats, classes, wellness calendar |
| Location | 1 page | Property page with spa hours and access |
| Reviews and press | 1-2 pages | Property reviews plus spa awards received |
| Retail | Optional store | Property store |
Platform choices for spa websites
Most independent day spas and wellness centers are best served by a custom WordPress site with the booking software embedded: the menu, packages and gift cards are editable, treatment pages rank, and the design can be as restrained as the brand needs. Webflow suits a design-led single spa. Squarespace fits a small massage or wellness practice with a hosted booking page. Resort spas usually live inside the hotel’s platform, and multi-location spa brands need a location-aware build. Medical spas follow the same platform logic with stricter form and privacy handling. See hotel website design for the resort context.
| Platform | Best for | Watch out for |
|---|---|---|
| Custom WordPress theme | Day spas, wellness centers and med spas that want treatment pages to rank | Photo-heavy pages need a block theme, not a page builder |
| Webflow | Design-led single spas with a strong visual identity | Booking is an embed; per-seat pricing |
| Squarespace | Small massage and wellness practices with hosted booking | Limited menu and package structure |
| Hotel platform section | Resort and hotel spas inside the property site | Spa pages inherit the property’s constraints and release cycle |
| Next.js with a location CMS | Multi-location spa brands | Needs a developer for layout changes |
Integrations that make a spa website work
| Need | Tools we connect | What it changes |
|---|---|---|
| Booking and guest records | Mindbody, Vagaro, Boulevard, Zenoti, Mangomint, Book4Time, SpaSoft | Every book button opens the real calendar |
| Medical spa records and intake | Aesthetic Record, Nextech, Zenoti, Boulevard | Consultation booking and intake handled with privacy controls |
| Gift cards and memberships | The software’s gift card and membership tools, or Shopify | Instant email delivery; memberships managed in the software |
| Hotel systems | Property management system links, room-charge and guest booking | Guests book spa time with their stay |
| Payments and deposits | The software’s payments, Square, Stripe | No-show protection |
| Reviews | Google Business Profile, Tripadvisor for resort spas | Proof where guests decide |
| Email and SMS | The software’s tools, Klaviyo, Mailchimp | Occasion campaigns and rebooking |
| Analytics and calls | GA4, Google Tag Manager, call tracking | Bookings, gift cards and calls attributed to their source |
Multi-location spa brands
A brand with several spas needs a page per location with its own menu variations, hours, practitioners, reviews and structured data, a finder, gift cards valid across locations, and booking routed to the right calendar. Zenoti and Book4Time are common at this scale; the site must respect the software’s location model.
SEO and AI search for spas
Spa search is local, occasion-led and treatment-led: “day spa near me”, “couples massage [town]”, “spa packages [city]”, “best facial [neighborhood]”, “spa gift card”, and for medical spas the treatment names by town. The pages that rank are treatment and package pages that state the price, duration and inclusions, backed by a complete Google Business Profile. AI assistants answer “what should I wear to a spa” and “which spas in [city] have a sauna” from etiquette and facilities pages written plainly. Each location carries DaySpa or HealthAndBeautyBusiness structured data with hours and price range; medical spas add MedicalBusiness data. See AEO for med spas and SEO for med spas for the medical side.
- One page per treatment category and one for each signature treatment, opening with what it is, who it suits, price and duration.
- Package pages for the occasions people search: couples, bridal, birthday, corporate, mother’s day.
- A facilities page that names the sauna, steam, pool and relaxation spaces, because guests search for them.
- An etiquette and first-visit page that answers the practical questions in the spa’s voice.
- Gift card pages that rank for “spa gift card [city]” before the holidays.
- A Google Business Profile that matches the site: spa categories, treatments, hours, photos of the facilities and the booking link.
Photography sets the price
Guests judge the price of a spa by its photographs before they read the menu. We plan a shoot of the rooms, the facilities, the products and the treatments in progress, with consistent light and a calm palette, and we compress and lazy-load every image so the atmosphere does not cost the site its speed.

How we design and build a spa website
- Discovery: the menu and prices, packages, gift card and membership programs, the booking software, locations, the etiquette questions the desk answers, and the current site’s bookings and gift card sales.
- Software audit: how booking, intake, gift cards, memberships and deposits can be embedded or linked, and for resort spas how the property system connects.
- Structure: sitemap, treatment and package content types, gift card paths from every page, facilities and etiquette pages, location model.
- Design: a design system from the brand with treatment, package and facilities templates, and a photography plan.
- Build: WordPress or the chosen platform, booking and gift card integration, structured data, forms with privacy handling, tracking.
- Content: menu, package, facilities and etiquette pages written with the spa director; the shoot.
- Launch: redirect map, Google Business Profile alignment, speed and accessibility checks, booking and gift card tracking.
- After launch: seasonal packages, gift card campaigns before holidays, new treatments and practitioner updates.
What spa website design costs
Planning figures for US spas, driven by the size of the menu, the software integration, locations, photography and, for medical spas, the compliance and intake work. The website development cost page explains how these figures are built up.
| Scope | Range | Timeline |
|---|---|---|
| Small day spa or massage practice on a builder, 8-15 pages, hosted booking | $3,000-$9,000 | 4-6 weeks |
| Custom WordPress day spa site, 20-40 pages, booking and gift card integration | $9,000-$18,000 | 6-8 weeks |
| Custom site with full menu, packages, memberships, facilities and photo shoot | $18,000-$30,000 | 8-10 weeks |
| Medical spa, resort spa or multi-location brand with intake, privacy and location model | $30,000-$90,000 | 3-5 months |
| Spa software subscription | $100-$800 per month by vendor and size | Ongoing |
| Hosting, maintenance and seasonal campaigns | $150-$900 per month | Ongoing |
Spa website design by spa type
Day spas
The full menu, packages, gift cards and facilities, with the etiquette page doing the front desk’s work. Booking through Mindbody, Vagaro, Boulevard or Mangomint, and a gift card path one tap from every page.
Massage and wellness centers
A focused menu by modality and concern (deep tissue, prenatal, sports, lymphatic), practitioner profiles with credentials, memberships, and insurance or HSA notes where applicable. The site is quieter and more clinical than a day spa.
Medical spas
Provider credentials, treatment candidacy and risk pages, consultation booking, financing, consented before-and-after galleries and intake handled with privacy controls; see our med spa website design page for the full build.
Hotel and resort spas
A spa section inside the property site, with day-pass and non-guest rules, packages tied to stays, thermal facilities, and booking that connects to the property management system. Book4Time, SpaSoft and Zenoti are typical.
Float, sauna, cryotherapy and recovery studios
A short menu, memberships and packs, first-visit pages that explain the experience and contraindications, and booking that handles room or tank capacity.
Multi-location spa brands
Location pages with menu variations, a finder, cross-location gift cards, booking routed per location and local editing under a shared design system.
What to gather before a spa website project starts
- The full treatment menu with prices, durations, inclusions and contraindications.
- Package and ritual definitions, group sizes, timing and pricing.
- Gift card denominations, membership tiers and the channels where each is sold now.
- Booking software login and which embed, widget or API access it provides; for resort spas, the property system contact.
- Facilities list with access rules for guests, day passes and non-guests.
- Etiquette and first-visit answers as the front desk gives them.
- Practitioner bios and credentials; for medical spas, the medical director and provider licenses.
- Photography rights and a date for a shoot of rooms, facilities and treatments.
- Reviews, press mentions and awards actually received, with links.
- Google Business Profile access for each location.
Measuring a spa website after launch
- Bookings started on the site by treatment and package page.
- Gift card sales by month, with the holiday peaks compared year over year.
- Membership sign-ups and retention from the software’s reports.
- Rankings for treatment-plus-town and package phrases, and Google Business Profile actions.
- Calls to the front desk about etiquette questions, which should fall.
- No-show rate after deposits were added to booking.
- Review count and rating growth per location.
- Page speed on phones for the menu, gift card and booking pages.
Mistakes that cost spas bookings
- The menu as a PDF, invisible to search and to AI assistants and unreadable on a phone.
- Gift cards sold only at the desk, missing the guests who buy at midnight before a holiday.
- A book button that leads to a contact form, so the guest who wanted a Saturday facial never gets one.
- No etiquette or first-visit page, so the desk answers the same questions all day.
- Facilities never named in text, so the spa does not rank for “sauna” or “couples suite”.
- Stock photos of a spa that is not yours; guests notice on arrival.
- Medical claims or before-and-after images without consent on a medical spa site.
- Full-size photography that fails Core Web Vitals on mobile.
- One page for three locations, so none ranks in its own town.
Template, hotel platform or agency: which fits a spa
| Option | Cost | Fits when | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Template on Squarespace or Wix | $500-$3,000 plus subscription | Small massage or wellness practice with hosted booking | Limited menu, package and gift card structure |
| Booking vendor’s site builder | Included or $10-$50 a month | A solo practitioner who needs booking today | Template design; no treatment pages that rank |
| Hotel platform spa section | Part of the property’s site cost | Resort spas that must live inside the property site | Constrained by the property’s platform and release cycle |
| Agency custom build | $9,000-$30,000 | Day spas, wellness centers and med spas competing on search and online booking | Needs 4-6 weeks of the spa director’s input |
| Agency multi-location or med spa platform | $30,000-$90,000 | Brands with several locations, or medical spas with intake and privacy needs | Ongoing content and compliance responsibility |
