Managed WordPress hosting is a service, not a server: PHP and database tuned for WordPress, server-level page caching and often object caching, a CDN, automatic core (and sometimes plugin) updates, daily backups with one-click restore, staging environments, malware scanning and firewalling, free TLS certificates and support staff who know WordPress. Both are premium managed WordPress hosts with comparable performance, staging, backups, CDNs and 24/7 support. Kinsta is known for its MyKinsta dashboard, Google Cloud premium-tier network and straightforward plans priced by visits; WP Engine is known for enterprise and agency features, its Local development app, the Genesis framework and a broader range of plans including WooCommerce-specific ones. For a single business site either is a sound choice; agencies managing many sites often choose by tooling and account structure; enterprises with procurement requirements often land on WP Engine. WooCommerce and ecommerce website hosting

A store cannot page-cache the cart, checkout or account pages, so it needs enough PHP workers, object caching (Redis) and a fast database rather than only a CDN. Managed WooCommerce plans from Kinsta, WP Engine, Pressable, Cloudways and Nexcess are built for this; a well-tuned VPS with Redis and LiteSpeed or Nginx works when a developer runs it. WordPress VPS hosting

A VPS (DigitalOcean, Vultr, Linode, Hetzner, Lightsail) gives full control and the lowest cost per site for someone who can configure Nginx or LiteSpeed, PHP-FPM, MariaDB, Redis, firewalls, backups and updates. Control panels such as RunCloud, SpinupWP, Ploi and GridPane, or Cloudways as a managed layer, remove most of that work. Choose a VPS when you host several sites, need custom server software, or have a developer or agency on retainer; otherwise managed hosting is safer.

Server-level page caching, a CDN, current PHP (8.2 or newer), object caching for logged-in and WooCommerce pages, optimized images, a lean theme and few plugins.
