Carpet cleaning SEO is the work of getting a carpet cleaning company found in Google’s map results, its organic results and AI assistants by homeowners and property managers looking for carpet, rug, upholstery or tile cleaning nearby, and of turning those searches into booked jobs. It covers the keyword map and page architecture for carpet, rug and upholstery services, the Business Profile, technical work on booking and quote flows, content and local links, all measured in calls and booked jobs. This page is for owners and marketing leads of carpet cleaning companies, from single-van operators to multi-truck firms. The short answerFor most carpet cleaners, SEO starts with a keyword map that gives every service, every common problem and every town with steady work one page of its own, and a Business Profile whose services list matches those pages. Then come a site whose prices, quotes and bookings search engines can read and analytics can trace to the job, and care and stain content that answers what customers ask. Measure calls, quote requests and booked jobs from organic search and the profile, not rankings alone. Profile and site fixes can show within weeks and steady growth takes three to six months, though meaningful lead volume often takes longer in competitive markets; our published planning range for local SEO at one location is $600 to $2,500 a month.
Establishment and employment counts are Bureau of Labor Statistics QCEW annual averages for private carpet and upholstery cleaning services. Google’s guidelines and help pages and the industry guidance are described as published on October 12, 2026 and can change. Prices are the planning ranges in our published pricing guides.
What is carpet cleaning SEO?
It is search engine optimization for a home-service trade: making a carpet cleaning company the obvious choice when someone nearby searches for the job it does. Most of it is local, because the searcher wants a company that will come to their door this week.
What it covers
A keyword map that assigns each kind of carpet search to one page, the site architecture that follows from it, the Business Profile’s categories and services, the technical health of the pages that take quotes and bookings, structured data, content that answers carpet care questions, and the local links that tell search engines the company is real and established.
What it should produce
Phone calls, quote requests and online bookings for the jobs you want, in the towns you want them, at a cost per booked job that beats paying for every click. Rankings are a means; a month of better positions and no extra jobs is not a result.
Covered once, on our cleaning marketing page
Some ground is shared by every cleaning trade: how Google wants a service-area business set up, how reviews may be requested under Google’s policy and the FTC’s review rule, photographing inside customers’ homes, presenting IICRC and other credentials, publishing prices, which AI crawlers to allow, and advertising from Local Services Ads to door hangers. All of it is set out on our cleaning company marketing page and is not repeated here. This page is the search work that belongs to carpet, rug and upholstery cleaning alone.
How do people search for a carpet cleaner, and which page should answer?
They search by problem, by surface, by occasion and by place, often in one query. A keyword map assigns each of those families to exactly one page, so every search has somewhere specific to land and no two pages compete for the same one.
| Search family | Typical search | The page that should answer it |
|---|---|---|
| Near me and town | carpet cleaners near me, carpet cleaning in [town] | Home page and a service-area page for towns with real jobs |
| Problem | pet odor carpet cleaning, red wine stain on carpet | A service page for the problem plus a stain guide |
| Occasion | move out carpet cleaning, carpet cleaning before selling | A page on move-in and move-out cleaning |
| Surface | area rug cleaning, upholstery cleaning, tile and grout cleaning | One page per surface |
| Price | carpet cleaning cost per square foot, carpet cleaning prices | A cost page that explains how quotes are built |
| Commercial | office carpet cleaning, apartment turnover carpet cleaning | A commercial page with scheduling and access details |
Near me and town searches
These are decided mostly in the map results, which is why the Business Profile matters so much. The website supports them with a home page that names the area served and, for the towns where you really work, area pages with something true to say.
Problem searches
Pet accidents, odors and stains send people to search with a specific worry. A page that explains how you treat that problem, what results to expect and how it is priced answers the worry and gives the searcher a reason to call you rather than a generic franchise.
Price searches
People want a number before they call, and they phrase it per square foot, per room or per rug. One cost page that answers all three phrasings in plain text ranks for those searches and filters out jobs you do not want.
Commercial searches
Property managers and office managers search differently, often by building type and schedule. A commercial page that covers after-hours work, turnover timelines and invoicing speaks to them in their own terms.
One URL per intent, so pages do not compete
When the carpet page, the rug page and a blog post all chase the same search, they can take turns ranking, and none may hold a top place. The map settles it before anything is written: one page owns each family, and the others link to it instead of repeating it.
Where the map comes from
Your job records show which services and towns pay; the Business Profile’s performance view lists the searches people used to find the profile; Search Console shows the queries each page already appears for. Put the three side by side and the gaps, searches with no page, become the content plan.
Six kinds of job bring most carpet cleaning searches. Each is worth a page of its own.
What has to happen between a search and a booked job?
A search only becomes a job if every step after it holds: a profile or page that appears, a first screen that answers the question, an easy way to call or ask for a quote, and a quote that turns into a dated booking. SEO has to cover the whole path, not only the first step.
Before the click: the result
Whether the profile appears is decided by relevance, distance and prominence. What it shows once it appears is yours to control: the name, the services, the photos, the hours and a phone number that rings.
On the page: the first screen
Put the service, how pricing works, the towns you cover and a tappable phone number where a visitor sees them without scrolling. Each service page should answer one kind of search completely.
After the call: the quote and the date
Track which calls become quotes and which quotes become dated bookings. If many calls stop at the quote, the cost page and the quote form need work; if few calls arrive, look at the profile and the pages first.
SEO for carpet cleaning: the work, layer by layer
Four layers do the work: the Business Profile, the website’s pages, the technical foundation, and the links and mentions that build prominence. Each layer has its own deliverables and its own way to fail.
| Layer | What gets done | Where to read more |
|---|---|---|
| Business Profile | Categories, a services list that mirrors the site, photos, posts, review count kept growing | Business Profile optimization |
| Website pages | Keyword map, service, problem, cost, area and project pages, each answering one kind of search | SEO content writing |
| Technical foundation | Speed, indexing, readable prices, booking-flow tracking, structured data | Technical SEO |
| Links and mentions | Local listings, partners, associations and coverage that link to the site | SEO services |
| Measurement | Calls, forms and bookings tracked back to organic search and the profile | Marketing analytics |
Start with an audit, not a package
Before anything is built, someone should check the profile, the site and the competitors in your actual service area and list what is wrong, URL by URL. Our SEO audit is that first step, and it is useful on its own if you want to do the work yourself.
Then fix in order of impact
Usually the profile and the pages people land on come first, because they affect calls fastest. Technical work follows where it blocks those pages, and links and content build over the months after.
Carpet cleaning local SEO: ranking work specific to carpet companies
Google’s help page on local ranking names three things behind local results: how relevant a profile is to the search, how far the business is from the searcher, and how prominent it is, which links to the business and its reviews feed. It also says nobody can pay for a better local position. For a carpet cleaner, relevance and prominence are where the work goes.
A services list that mirrors the site
Google’s services editor suggests services for the business type, accepts custom ones with descriptions and prices, and says a listed service may be highlighted when someone searches for it. Add carpet cleaning, area rug cleaning, upholstery, pet odor treatment, tile and grout and commercial carpet as separate entries that match the site’s pages. Prices and phone numbers in a custom service’s name get it rejected.
Categories: the carpet work first
Google asks for as few categories as it takes to describe the core business. If carpet work is most of the revenue, the primary category should be the one closest to carpet cleaning; add a second category only for a line of business that stands on its own, not for every add-on.
The rug plant question
A company that only works at customers’ homes keeps its address off the profile. One with a rug cleaning plant where customers drop off rugs, with permanent signage, can be a hybrid and show the address as well as a service area, which gives the rug pages a real place to point to.
Distance you cannot change
Google measures distance from the person searching, and when someone does not share a location it uses what it knows about where they are. A van-based company cannot move closer to every town, so for distant towns the organic results, through area pages with real substance, are the second way in.
Checking rankings the way customers see them
Search Console’s own help notes that results depend on the time, place, device and recent history of the searcher. One rank check from the office tells you little; check from several points across the service area before deciding a page or profile change worked.
Review count as a ranking input
Google’s local ranking help says more reviews and positive ratings can help a business’s local ranking. For SEO, compare your count and rating with the companies above you in the map for your main town; how to ask for reviews within the rules is covered on our review management page.
Apple Maps and Bing listings
Apple Business is where a company manages its Apple Maps listing, with optional ads on Apple Maps and actions such as booking; Microsoft’s equivalent is Bing Places for Business. Claim both once, copy the details exactly from the Google profile, and update all three together.
Plenty of calls, but too many price shoppers?Tell us the jobs you want more of and the towns you cover. We will show which searches and pages would bring them in, in writing.
Page architecture for carpet, rug and upholstery services
The keyword map becomes the site’s structure: a main carpet cleaning page, one URL per surface, problem pages under the service they belong to, a cost page, area pages where you have steady work and project pages for finished jobs.
The main carpet page and one URL per surface
The main page targets carpet cleaning in general and links to area rugs, upholstery, tile and grout and commercial carpet, each on its own URL. Say on each how the job is done, how long drying takes, what the customer needs to do beforehand and how it is priced.
Problem pages under the service they belong to
Pet urine and odor, set-in stains and water marks each get a page linked from the surface it affects. Short, readable addresses such as /carpet-cleaning/pet-odor/ show visitors and crawlers where the page sits.
Area pages without doorway abuse
Google’s spam policies call it doorway abuse when a business publishes a run of pages, each aimed at a different city, that all push visitors toward the same destination, and they treat mass-produced pages made to game rankings as scaled content abuse. Build an area page only for towns where you do steady work, and fill it with what is true there: jobs completed, the kinds of homes and buildings, access and parking notes.
Project pages for finished jobs
A page per notable job, with the problem, the method, the drying time and the result, gives search engines fresh, specific text and gives each surface and problem page proof to link to. Leave the address out.
A cost page search engines can read
The Carpet and Rug Institute’s advice on hiring a carpet cleaner tells consumers that pricing should be based on the area cleaned, not the number of rooms, because room sizes vary. A cost page that explains area-based pricing, says how a room is defined if you quote by room, and lists what changes the price, answers the per-square-foot and per-room searches in one place.
Internal links that follow the map
Link the home page to every service, each service to its problem pages, the cost page and the relevant care guides, and each area page to the services available there. A visitor and a crawler should reach any page in two or three taps.
Technical SEO for booking and quote flows
Most carpet cleaning sites are small, so technical work is about the pages that take money: whether search engines can read prices and service details, whether the quote and booking steps are fast on a phone, and whether each booking can be traced to the search that started it. Our technical SEO page covers the full scope.
Prices behind a calculator are invisible
Google says its search does not interact with a page, so content that appears only after a click or scroll may never be seen. A price that shows only after someone enters room sizes into a calculator is in that position. Keep the calculator for visitors and put the written explanation of how quotes are built in the page itself.
Booking tools on another domain
Some schedulers run on their own domain. Without cross-domain measurement, Google Analytics counts a visitor who moves from your site to the scheduler as two users and two sessions, so the booking is cut off from the search that brought them. With it, an identifier passed in the link keeps them as one user and one session.
Key events for calls, forms and bookings
In Google Analytics any event can be marked as a key event. Mark the quote form submission, the booking confirmation and taps on the phone number, so the reports show which landing pages produce work rather than which produce visits.
Confirmation pages out of search
A thank-you page that people can reach from search can inflate conversion counts when page views are what is counted, and it confuses visitors who land on it. A noindex rule makes Google drop the page from its results entirely, even if other sites link to it, while the confirmation still loads for the customer who just booked.
Speed on a phone
Google’s Core Web Vitals call a page good when its main content appears within 2.5 seconds, it responds to a tap in under 200 milliseconds and its layout barely moves while loading, a shift score below 0.1. Booking widgets, chat widgets and large before-and-after galleries are the first things to check, and Google advises against lazy-loading content that is visible as soon as the page opens. See website speed optimization for the fixes.
When the speed report is empty
Search Console’s Core Web Vitals report is built from real-visitor data and shows “No data available” when there is not enough of it, which can happen on a site with few visitors. Test each service page in PageSpeed Insights instead.
Indexing checks sized for a small site
Google’s Page indexing report help says a site with fewer than 500 pages probably does not need that report and suggests site: searches and the URL Inspection tool for key pages. Check that every service, problem and area page is indexed, that old pages redirect to their replacements, and that copied area pages are removed or rewritten.
Content that wins carpet care and stain searches
The questions customers ask in your living rooms are the questions they type into search. Answer them on your own site, in your own words, with the advice manufacturers and the trade bodies publish.
How often carpets should be cleaned
The Carpet and Rug Institute recommends professional deep cleaning every 12 to 18 months and tells consumers to check their carpet warranty for specific requirements. Shaw Floors’ carpet FAQ recommends professional cleaning every 12 to 18 months by a certified professional, depending on traffic, and at least once every 24 months. A page that sets out this advice, and books a reminder, ranks for frequency questions and fills next year’s calendar.
Warranty questions
Homeowners with newer carpet want to know whether a cleaning will affect their warranty. Explain what manufacturers recommend, that the warranty itself sets the requirements, and what records you provide after each job.
Stain and spot guides
A short guide per common stain, with what to do immediately and when to call a professional, answers searches made at the worst possible moment. End each guide with how you handle that stain and how to book.
Method pages
If you use hot water extraction, low-moisture cleaning or a different method for rugs, explain what it is, when you use it and how long drying takes. A method page can also name the standard the work follows: the ANSI/IICRC S100 standard describes the procedures, methods and systems for cleaning carpet and rugs in homes and commercial buildings, and its 2021 edition is being revised. Customers comparing companies read these pages, and assistants quote them.
Rug-type pages
Owners of wool, handmade and antique rugs often search with specific worries about dyes, fringes and shrinkage. A page per rug type you clean, saying how you inspect, test and clean it and whether you take it to a plant, answers those searches.
Seasonal content
Pages and posts tied to the moments people search, such as moving season, holidays with guests and the end of a wet winter, give the site fresh, relevant content and give the Business Profile something to post.
Image SEO for before-and-after photos
A before-and-after pair helps a page rank only if search engines can find the image and understand what it shows. That depends on how it is embedded, named and placed.
File names, alt text and captions
Google’s image SEO guidance recommends descriptive file names, titles and alt text, and says Google extracts information about an image from the page, including captions. ‘pet-urine-stain-wool-rug-before.jpg’ with alt text describing the stain says far more than ‘IMG_4471.jpg’.
Place photos next to the text they prove
Google also advises placing images near relevant text. Put the before-and-after pair on the service page it illustrates, with a caption naming the problem and the method, rather than in a gallery nobody reads.
Sliders and galleries Google can index
Google finds images in the src attribute of an img element, including one inside a picture element, and does not index CSS background images. Some before-and-after sliders draw the photos as CSS backgrounds; check yours uses real image elements, and that a gallery does not wait for a click to load.
Structured data for a carpet cleaner
Structured data tells search engines what the business is, where it works and how to contact it. It does not replace good pages, but it removes guesswork.
Which type to use
Schema.org has no carpet cleaning type. HomeAndConstructionBusiness, described as a local business that provides services around homes and buildings, is a reasonable fit, and plain LocalBusiness works too. Google’s guide to local business markup wants the most specific subtype that fits, treats name and address as the two required properties, and allows several types to be listed together.
Areas served and services
Describe the towns served and the services offered in the markup, and make sure they match the profile and the visible page. Markup that claims more than the page shows helps nobody.
Why your own reviews will not show stars
Google’s review snippet guidelines say that when a business controls the reviews about itself, its pages using LocalBusiness or Organization markup are not eligible for star ratings, including reviews shown through an embedded third-party widget. Show reviews on the site for customers, but do not expect stars in search for them.
Missing from the map results in your own town?Share your Business Profile and service area. We will check it against Google’s rules and tell you what to fix first.
Links and local listings for a carpet cleaning company
Links count toward prominence: Google’s local ranking help names the number of websites linking to a business among the signals. For a carpet cleaner, the best links come from the local businesses and organizations it already works with.
Partners who already send you work
Real estate agents, property managers, flooring stores, landlords and moving companies send carpet cleaning jobs and often have websites with recommended-provider pages. A listing there is a link and a referral source at once.
The CRI Seal of Approval listing
Carpet cleaners who use Seal of Approval solutions with Seal of Approval equipment can apply to be recognized as Seal of Approval service providers, for an annual fee of $100, and the institute says many major carpet manufacturers require or strongly recommend Seal of Approval products. If you qualify, the provider finder is a trade listing customers trust and a link to your site in one.
Consistent details everywhere
Google’s guidelines ask for a phone number that connects to the business and is under its direct control. Use the same name, number and website on the profile, the site and every listing, so search engines see one business, not three.
Local news and community sites
A charity cleaning for a community center, a sponsorship of a youth team or a guide to cleaning up after a local flood can earn coverage and links. Our local search guide explains how listings and mentions work together.
Which carpet questions do people ask AI assistants, and what answers them?
They describe a situation rather than a service: a stain, a fiber, a deadline and a town in one request. The pages that answer those requests are the same specific service, problem and cost pages that rank in ordinary search.
Situational requests
Homeowners type or speak whole situations into ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Google’s AI Overviews: dog urine in a wool rug before guests arrive on Friday, or a red wine spill on a pale carpet. A site with one page per surface and problem matches far more of those than a single carpet cleaning page does.
Pages that give an assistant something to quote
Where an assistant searches the web, it draws on pages it can reach and read. A problem page that states the method, the drying time and how the price is set, in plain text, gives it a complete answer to repeat; a page of slogans gives it nothing.
Where the AEO work lives
Crawler access, the facts to publish for cleaning companies in general and how assistants pick a provider are covered on our AEO for cleaning companies page. The SEO work on this page is what gives that work pages to point at.
Measuring organic bookings
Count calls, quote requests and booked jobs that came from organic search and the profile, and the revenue they brought. Rankings and traffic explain the jobs; they are not the result.
| Signal | Where to read it | What a change usually means |
|---|---|---|
| Impressions for service pages | Search Console performance report, by page | Pages are being shown for more searches |
| Clicks from searches without your name | Search Console, queries filtered to leave out the brand | New customers finding you, not people who already know you |
| Calls and website clicks from the profile | Business Profile performance view | Map visibility turning into contact |
| Quote forms and bookings by landing page | Google Analytics key events | Which service pages produce work |
| Booked jobs from organic search | Scheduling software, matched to calls and forms | The result the SEO work is paid for |
| Revenue per organic job, by service | Job records | Whether search brings the jobs you want |
Search Console
Google’s performance report shows clicks, impressions, click-through rate and average position for each page and query. Watch the service and area pages: rising impressions with flat clicks usually means the title and description need work.
Searches with and without your name
People who type your company name already know you. Split the queries into those with the name and those without; growth in the second set, landing on service and problem pages, is what SEO adds.
The profile’s own numbers
The Business Profile performance view counts taps on the call button, clicks on the website link and the search terms people used to find the profile. Google notes it mixes organic results with Google Ads, so if you run ads, do not read it as organic alone.
Calls and forms
Use tracked numbers on the website and tag the profile’s website link with campaign parameters, so calls and forms can be traced to organic search, the profile or ads. See marketing analytics for how this is set up.
Booked jobs and revenue
Match calls and forms to jobs in your scheduling software. The figure that matters is booked revenue from search per month, and what it cost to produce.
What carpet cleaning SEO services include each month
Carpet cleaning SEO services should leave a visible trail every month: what was mapped, fixed, published and earned, and what it produced. If a summary cannot show that, the retainer is buying very little.
| Workstream | What a month should show | How you can check it |
|---|---|---|
| Keyword map | Searches assigned to pages, new gaps named | The map document, dated |
| Business Profile | Services list kept in step with the site, posts, new photos | The profile itself |
| Pages | New or improved service, problem, area or project pages | Links to the published pages |
| Technical | Fixes shipped, with the URLs affected | Search Console and PageSpeed Insights |
| Links and listings | New listings and links, with where they came from | A list of URLs you can open |
| Measurement | Calls, quote requests and booked jobs from organic search and the profile | Call tracking and booking records |
Jobs first, positions last
The monthly summary should open with calls, quote requests and booked jobs from organic search and the profile, then list what shipped, what moved, what did not and what comes next. Rankings can appear, but below the jobs.
How much do carpet cleaning SEO services cost?
As published planning ranges, local SEO for one location runs $600 to $2,500 a month, with one-off work such as keyword research and mapping at $800 to $2,200. Competitive metro areas and several locations cost more.
| Item | Planning range | What is included |
|---|---|---|
| Local SEO, one location | $600-$2,500 a month | Profile, citations, reviews, local content |
| Local SEO, competitive category | $3,500-$8,000 a month | The above plus content and technical work in a contested market |
| Local SEO, several locations | $2,000-$15,000 a month | Scales with locations |
| Keyword research and mapping | $800-$2,200 one-off | Every target search assigned to exactly one URL, gaps named |
| Technical audit | $1,200-$4,000 one-off | A document naming specific URLs and fixes |
| One optimized page, written | $450-$1,400 | Research, draft, internal links, schema, published |
| Internal linking program | $700-$1,800 one-off | A crawl-based link plan, implemented |
| Analytics implementation | $1,500-$8,000 one-off | Calls, forms and bookings tracked to their source |
| Schema implementation | $400-$1,200 one-off | Organization, service and breadcrumb markup across templates |
| Citation clean-up | $350-$900 one-off | 15-25 listings corrected, duplicates removed |
| Monthly reporting only | $200-$500 a month | Numbers and commentary, no execution |
Which row fits a one-van or multi-truck company
Below about $500 a month, local SEO is usually software output rather than a service, as our local SEO pricing bands put it; $1,000 to $2,500 is where a real single-location program usually sits. Our own SEO retainers start at about $1,500 a month, and every engagement starts with a written scope.
The first year, phase by phase
As planning figures, a first year of local SEO typically runs a set-up phase of $900 to $2,500, a build phase at $600 to $1,600 a month, then maintenance at $400 to $1,100 a month. See SEO pricing for the full tables.
How long before carpet cleaning SEO books jobs?
Profile and on-page fixes can show in local results within weeks; plan on three to six months for steady growth in calls and booked jobs, longer in crowded metro areas or for a new company.
Why it takes months
Reviews accumulate one job at a time, new pages need to be crawled and tested against competitors, and links arrive as partners and coverage come through. Our guide to how long SEO takes explains the general pattern.
What should move first
Profile views, calls from the profile and impressions in Search Console for the pages worked on usually move before booked jobs do. Judge the first quarter on those, and the second on jobs.
How do you vet a carpet cleaning SEO company?
Test the plan, not the pitch: a provider worth hiring can show how it would map your searches to pages, fix your booking flow and trace a booked job back to a search, and it keeps every account in your company’s name.
| Test | What a good answer looks like |
|---|---|
| Show a draft keyword map for our services | Searches assigned to named pages, gaps listed |
| Name the URLs you would change in month one | A list of our own pages, with the reason for each |
| Explain how a booking is traced to a search | Tracked numbers, key events, cross-domain setup, job matching |
| Say how you would handle towns we rarely work in | Area pages only where jobs are steady; no copied town pages |
| Say where links would come from | Named local partners and listings, never bought links |
| Confirm who owns the accounts | Profile, domain, site and analytics in our name |
Red flags
Guaranteed first-place rankings, a price per keyword, dozens of near-identical town pages, a profile created under the agency’s control, and summaries that show only rankings. Our guide to choosing an SEO company covers the general checks.
Questions that test an SEO pitch
Which of our pages compete with each other today? What would you do with our quote calculator? Where do our bookings lose their source? Which searches have no page yet? What does month three look like?
A website that ranks for nothing but your name?Send the address. We will set out the service, price and area pages it needs and what each should say.
Is the carpet cleaning industry growing or shrinking?
Federal employment data show fewer carpet and upholstery cleaning businesses with employees than a decade ago, and fewer employees in them. For the companies that remain, local visibility still decides who gets the call.
What the data covers
The Bureau of Labor Statistics’ Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages counts establishments that report employees for unemployment insurance. Owner-operators with no employees are not in these figures, so the chart shows businesses with staff, not every carpet cleaner in the country.
What it means for SEO
Whatever the national trend, the competition that matters is the handful of companies in your own map results. A company that keeps its profile current, its reviews steady and its pages specific has a better chance of holding one of the few top places.
SEO mistakes that cost carpet cleaners rankings
Most are quick to fix once you know to look.
- One page for every service, so rugs, upholstery and pet odor never rank on their own.
- Dozens of town pages with the same text and a different place name.
- The carpet page, the rug page and a blog post all chasing the same search.
- Prices that appear only inside a calculator, where search engines cannot read them.
- A scheduler on another domain with no cross-domain measurement, so bookings lose their source.
- Before-and-after sliders built from CSS backgrounds, named IMG_ and without alt text.
- A Business Profile services list that does not match the pages on the site.
- A different phone number on the profile, the site and the listings.
SEO carpet cleaning companies can do in-house
A lot of the work is routine and suits the owner or office manager. The list below takes an hour or two a week and covers the basics an agency would otherwise charge for.
- Keep the Business Profile’s services list in step with the service pages on the site.
- Write a short project page for each notable job, with the problem, the method and the drying time.
- Answer one common customer question each month with a page or a guide.
- Check Search Console monthly for pages losing clicks and queries you have no page for.
- Test one service page a month in PageSpeed Insights on a phone.
- Rename new job photos descriptively and write alt text before uploading.
- Keep hours, holidays, services and the phone number current on the profile and the site.
Where outside help pays
Technical fixes, site structure, structured data, content at scale, link building and tracking calls to booked jobs are where specialist time saves the most. A good provider should also tell you which of the tasks above to keep doing yourself.
How Progression handles carpet cleaning SEO
We price the work after a diagnosis, put the scope in writing, report monthly against inquiries and revenue rather than average position, and ask for thirty days’ notice rather than a long contract. We do not guarantee rankings, buy links or build hundreds of templated location pages.
Access and records for the first month
Logins for the Business Profile, the website, Search Console and analytics; a list of the services you want more of and the towns you serve; and a few months of job records, so the keyword map starts from the work that pays and search can be tied to revenue.
What you keep
Ownership stays with you: the profile, the domain, the website, the analytics history and every page we write. We are given access, never ownership, so ending the work loses nothing.
