White Label AEO: Answer Engine Optimization Delivered Under Your Agency’s Brand

Updated October 2026 · Written and maintained by the Progression Agency strategy team

White label AEO is answer engine optimization that one agency delivers and another agency sells under its own name: Progression Agency does the work that gets a client named and cited by ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and Google AI Overviews, and your agency presents the baseline, the fixes and the monthly report as its own. It is built for web, SEO, PR, content and paid media agencies whose clients have started asking about AI answers. Progression Agency is based in New York City and works with partner agencies and their clients across the United States and worldwide.

The short answerWhite label AEO lets an agency add answer engine optimization to its services without hiring for it. Progression Agency scopes each client account in writing, records a dated baseline of what AI assistants say today, specifies and tests the fixes, and supplies a monthly report in the selling agency’s branding. The selling agency keeps the client relationship, the contract, the retail price and every approval. Results are measured by named mentions and linked citations across a fixed set of buyer questions, plus first-party data from Google Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools and analytics; nobody can guarantee a citation. Partner pricing is quoted per account from the published AEO planning ranges: retainers from $1,500 to $20,000 a month by scope, and a one-off audit from $1,000 to $4,000.

Prices on this page are Progression Agency’s published planning ranges, restated for partners; a quote follows a written scope. Platform details are current as of October 4, 2026 and change often. Nothing here names a partner agency, a client or a measured result.

What is white label AEO?

White label AEO is a delivery arrangement, not a different kind of optimization: the work is ordinary answer engine optimization, and the only thing that changes is whose name is on it.

Three parties are involved. The end client buys AI visibility work from an agency it already trusts. That agency, the reseller, owns the relationship and the invoice. Progression Agency sits behind the reseller as the delivery team, working from a scope fixed in writing for each client and delivering under the reseller’s brand.

The arrangement exists because AEO calls for skills most agencies have not yet had a reason to hire: reading server logs for AI crawler activity, testing what a page returns without scripts, building a repeatable question set, and reporting on mentions instead of rankings. Our definition of AEO covers the discipline itself, and the answer engine optimization agency page covers direct engagements. This page covers the partner model only.

Who buys white label AEO services?

Agencies with a client base and no AEO bench: web design and development studios, SEO shops that want a way to measure AI answers, PR and content firms whose coverage already feeds what assistants read, paid media agencies asked about ChatGPT by the same clients they run search ads for, and independent consultants who need delivery capacity behind their advice.

What it is not

It is not a software license, a dashboard login or a batch of machine-written articles with your logo on them. It is people doing scoped work on a named client’s site and reporting it. Our comparison of AEO tool classes explains where software fits and where it stops.

How is it different from white label SEO?

The delivery model is the same and the work is not. White label SEO covers audits, content, local profiles and links aimed at rankings. The AEO version covers access for AI crawlers, answers that can be lifted cleanly from a page, facts that agree across sources, and measurement by question. An agency can resell both; ask for search results and AI answer results to be reported separately for each client.

Your brand — On the deliverables. Reports, dashboards and documents carry your brand.
Your client — Stays yours. You sign the client and own the relationship.
Your price — Set by you. The reseller sets the retail price.
Your review — Before delivery. You can review any deliverable before it reaches the client.
Client data — In client-owned accounts. The client owns the accounts; your agency is the manager.
Our work — Scoped in writing. Scopes are fixed in writing for each client.

What is delivered under your agency’s brand?

Seven work packages, each ending in a document your client can read and your team can present. Deliverables carry your brand, not ours.

The packages below are the partner-facing view. The underlying artifacts, and how a client can check each one independently, are set out on our AEO services page, so this section stays with what a reseller needs to know: what arrives, in what form, and who is being asked to approve it.

Baseline first, always

Nothing is changed on the client’s site until the first run of the question set is stored. Assistants answer differently from one run to the next, so a saved, dated record is the only way your agency can later show a client what moved. The AI visibility prompt builder drafts a first question set you can show a prospect before any contract exists.

Which crawlers the access review covers

The review names each crawler instead of referring to AI bots in general. OpenAI documents GPTBot for model training, OAI-SearchBot for ChatGPT search results and ChatGPT-User for visits a person triggers. Anthropic documents ClaudeBot, Claude-SearchBot and Claude-User. Perplexity documents PerplexityBot and Perplexity-User. Google uses the Google-Extended token to control Gemini training and grounding, while AI Overviews and AI Mode rely on ordinary Googlebot crawling and a separate Search generative AI control in Search Console. Each is checked in robots.txt, at the firewall or CDN, and in the logs.

Specifications the site owner can act on

Access and rendering fixes usually belong to whoever maintains the site. We specify each fix and test it; releasing the change is a job for the developer. Where the reseller also holds the web maintenance contract, the reseller’s developers ship it.

Content that stays the client’s own

Restructuring keeps the client’s facts, voice and claims. We do not mass-produce pages. Google’s Search Central guidance on generative AI content warns that generating many pages without adding value can fall under its scaled content abuse spam policy, and a client’s domain is not ours to put at risk under your name.

Corroboration and digital PR as an add-on

Assistants compare what a business says about itself with what other sources say. Where the scope includes it, earned coverage and listing corrections are run through our digital PR team and reported with a link to each placement.

How does the handoff work, from your sale to our delivery?

Your agency sells and stays in front; we scope, deliver and report behind you. Six steps, and the client sees your agency’s name on everything.

How a resold AEO account moves from your sale to our deliveryHow a resold AEO account moves from your sale to our delivery
Process flow. The review step between our delivery and your client is part of every account.

Intake under your name

You send the client’s domain, the markets served and the questions their buyers ask. Where you want sales support, proposals, audits and calls can carry your name, as they do on our white label SEO work.

A written scope per client

Scopes are fixed in writing for each client. A sound scope names the assistants covered, the number of questions, the templates in play, who implements fixes, the reporting dates and the price; ask for all six before you quote your own client.

Review before anything reaches the client

You can review any deliverable before it reaches the client; that review step is built into the process. Use it to check that nothing in a document promises more than the method can support.

Where the files live

Ask any provider whether it will work inside your project board, shared drive and templates. Files, comments and history kept in your systems stay with your agency if a partnership ends.

How is the reporting branded?

Reports, dashboards and documents carry your brand, and a report worth putting your name on is built from data your client can open and check. Branding covers the presentation; it should never alter the numbers.

A complete monthly pack has seven parts. The table shows what each part should be built from, which matters when a client asks your account lead how a figure was produced.

What a branded AEO report should contain, and what each part is built from
Report sectionBuilt fromWhat your client seesWhy it holds up
Named mentions and linked citationsThe fixed question set, run in the agreed assistantsCounts by assistant, with the saved answers attachedAnyone can re-run the same wording

Work shippedThe account scope and change logWhat changed, on which pages, on which dateMatches the client’s site history
Next periodThe account scopeNamed tasks and ownersAgreed in advance

Three of those parts rely on reporting your client already has access to. Google’s generative AI performance report in Search Console counts impressions for a site’s pages in AI Overviews and AI Mode. Bing Webmaster Tools includes an AI Performance report for citations in Microsoft Copilot and Bing. Google Analytics supports a custom channel group for AI assistants, so visits from chat tools stop hiding inside referral traffic. A pack built on those first, with third-party tracking added only where the scope calls for it, is one your client can verify without help.

Question set — Mentions and citations. Fixed wording, saved answers, dated runs.
Search Console — Google AI features. Impressions in AI Overviews and AI Mode.
Bing Webmaster — Copilot and Bing. Citations and the queries behind them.
Analytics — Assistant referrals. AI assistants as a separate channel.
Server logs — Crawler activity. Requests by documented AI user agent.
Change log — Work shipped. What changed, where and when.

What can be branded

On our white label work, reports, dashboards and documents carry your brand and, where you want it, calls and email do too. With any provider, ask about the details: the report template, slide decks for client reviews, the sender name on scheduled emails and the web address a client logs in to.

What stays unbranded on purpose

Raw data. Each AEO artifact is a file the client keeps and can check: log extracts that can be re-run and answers stored word for word. Ask for these as plain files, so they remain usable if the client later changes agencies.

Mentions and citations are reported separately

A mention is the client being named in an answer. A citation is a link to the client’s page. They behave differently, and a blended score hides which one moved, so they should be reported apart. Our LLM visibility guide explains the measures.

Rankings stay in their own section

If your agency also runs SEO for the client, search positions are reported separately from AI answer results. Merging them would let ordinary ranking gains pass for AI visibility.

Have a client asking about AI answers?Send the domain. We run the crawler access and rendering checks and return a scope and partner quote your agency can resell.

Request a partner scope

Who talks to your client?

You decide. On our white label work, reports and documents carry your brand and, where you want it, calls and email do too. Whichever arrangement you choose with a provider, have it written into the agreement so nobody improvises it in front of a client.

Three ways to arrange client contact, and what to settle for each
ArrangementWho the client hears fromWhat to settle in writingFits when
Silent deliveryYour account lead onlyHow client questions reach the delivery team, and how quickly they are answeredYou have a strong account team and want one voice
Provider joins under your brandYour account lead, with the provider’s strategist on scheduled callsHow the strategist is introduced, and which email address is usedThe client wants to question the person doing the work
Disclosed partnerBoth agenciesHow the provider is named to the client, and who leads each callThe client’s procurement rules require subcontractors to be named

Whichever arrangement you choose, what is said to the client has to be accurate: no results that were not measured and no credentials that do not exist. Where a client contract requires subcontractors to be disclosed, ask the provider to work on a disclosed basis; that obligation sits in your own agreement with the client.

One channel for requests

Agree one route for client requests, such as your account lead or a shared queue you control. That keeps scope decisions with the agency that owns the commercial relationship.

A briefing before each client review

Ask for a short briefing before each client review: what the report shows, what a skeptical client is likely to ask and how to answer without over-promising. An account lead presenting AEO for the first time will need it.

How is confidentiality handled?

In writing, before any client is named. On our white label work, Progression’s name appears only in the contract between the agencies, and client data stays in accounts the client owns, with your agency as manager. Beyond that, a sound white label agreement sets out the terms below, and you should ask any provider for each of them.

Three kinds of information need protecting: the existence of the partnership, your client list and pricing, and the client’s own data. Each deserves a specific term, not a general promise. A sound agreement states:

  • Mutual confidentiality that covers the partnership itself, your client list, your retail pricing and anything the client shares.
  • Non-solicitation: the provider does not market to, contract with or accept direct work from a client you introduced without your written consent.
  • No public reference: a client served through you is not named in the provider’s marketing, case studies or sales calls.
  • Access through accounts the client owns, with your agency as manager and the provider’s staff added as users.
  • A named list of the tools that may touch client material, including any AI tools and the data terms they run under.
  • Return or deletion of working files at the end of an account, with the raw data handed to your agency first.

Platform roles make least-privilege access practical. Search Console’s users and permissions settings separate owners, full users and restricted users. Google Analytics assigns roles and data restrictions at account or property level, and a Google Business Profile distinguishes owners from managers. Google’s own advice on hiring search help is to grant read access only while a provider audits a site, which is a sensible place for any account to start.

AI tools and client data

Drafting and analysis may involve AI tools, and a client is entitled to know which. Ask for the tools to be listed in the scope. Vendors publish how they treat business data: Anthropic, for example, states that by default it does not train its models on inputs or outputs from its commercial products. Where a client forbids AI tools for its material, the scope should say so.

Regulated clients

For healthcare, financial and legal clients, a sound scope sends claims in rewritten pages back to the client’s compliance reviewer before release. Restructuring should keep to what the client is already allowed to say; a delivery partner does not decide what that is, and nothing we deliver is legal, medical or financial advice.

How fast is the turnaround?

An audit takes about a working week once access is in place, the first set of deliverables lands inside six weeks, and measurement then runs monthly. These are planning timeframes; ask for the dates for each account to be written into its scope.

The slowest item is rarely ours. A robots.txt change, a firewall rule or a template fix has to be released by whoever controls the client’s site, and approval queues vary widely. Our guide to how long AEO takes covers the sequence in detail, and the enterprise AEO page explains why large organizations take longer to approve small changes.

About a week — AEO audit. 10 to 20 hours of review once access is in place.

$1,500-$20,000 — Monthly retainer. Published planning range, by scope.

What your agency can promise a client

Dates for documents: the baseline, the audit, the specifications, the monthly report. Those depend on the work and not on an assistant, so ask for them to be written into the scope.

What nobody should promise

A date for being cited. OpenAI’s crawler documentation says its search systems can take about 24 hours to adjust after a robots.txt change, and Google says recrawling a page can take anywhere from several days to several months. Access can be fixed on a schedule; an assistant’s choice of sources cannot.

What does white label AEO cost?

Partner pricing is quoted per client account from the same published planning ranges we use for direct work: retainers from $1,500 to $20,000 a month depending on scope, and a one-off audit from $1,000 to $4,000. Your agency sets its own retail price.

There is no separate partner rate card to memorize. Each account is scoped in writing and priced inside the band that matches it, and volume terms for agencies placing several accounts are settled in the partner agreement. The bands below are the published US figures explained on our AEO pricing page.

Tracking software is the one line that varies by account. The AI visibility tools whose list prices we verified run from $20 to $295 a month; ask for the scope to state whether a subscription is included, passed through at cost or supplied by your agency. Our tracker comparison covers what those tools do and do not measure. Every figure here is a planning range; the quote for an account follows its written scope.

What moves a partner quote

The same facts that move a direct one: whether templates return their content without scripts, how many templates exist, how many assistants and markets are tracked, and who implements the fixes. None of them depends on the reseller’s size.

How retail pricing works

You bill your client; we bill you. The margin between the two is your decision: on our white label work the reseller sets the retail price. The marketing agency pricing guide shows the retail ranges clients are used to seeing.

Is there a minimum?

No minimum number of accounts is required to start. An agency can begin with a single audit for one client and add accounts as demand appears.

AEO added to SEO you already resell

Where we already deliver SEO for the same client through your agency, most technical work overlaps and the AEO scope shrinks to measurement, crawler access and restructuring. The AEO vs SEO comparison shows which tasks are shared.

What does the reselling agency still own?

Everything commercial and everything relational. Resold delivery moves the labor, not the accountability: your agency remains the party the client hired.

The relationship

Renewals, upsells, complaints and praise all go to you. We succeed in this model only if your client stays your client.

The promise

Whatever your sales team told the client is what the client will measure the work against. Keep the promise to what can be delivered: scope, method, dates for documents, and no guaranteed citations.

The approvals

A rewritten section about a client’s service or price is the client’s statement, not ours and not yours. Each change needs a named approver on the client side, and your account lead owns chasing that approval.

The data, if we part ways

Each AEO artifact is a file you keep, and client data stays in accounts the client owns. A sound agreement also says in writing that question sets, saved answers and reports stay with your agency and the client, so that ending a partnership does not erase a client’s baseline.

What will we not do under your brand?

Anything that could leave your client with a penalty, a regulator’s letter or a promise that cannot be kept. Your name is on the work, so the limits are stated before the first account starts.

What goes out under your name, and what never doesWhat goes out under your name, and what never does
Editorial scorecard: five things the work produces and five that are refused, with the reasons in the section below.

Guarantee a mention or a citation

Which sources an assistant quotes is decided inside systems no agency controls. Google’s own hiring guidance tells site owners to walk away from anyone who guarantees a ranking or alleges a special relationship with Google, and the same reasoning applies to every assistant.

Write, buy or seed reviews and testimonials

The FTC’s Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule, 16 CFR Part 465, prohibits fake reviews and paying for reviews on condition that they express a particular sentiment. The FTC has said plainly that advertising agencies, public relations firms and reputation management companies can be liable under it.

Mass-produce pages for every question variant

Google’s guide to generative AI features in Search says that creating separate content for every variation of a query, primarily to manipulate rankings or AI responses, violates its scaled content abuse policy.

Hide text or instructions meant for machines

Hidden text placed to manipulate search systems is named in Google’s spam policies. A page that says one thing to people and another to a crawler also fails our own check of markup against visible copy, which you can run with the schema vs copy validator.

Present llms.txt as the fix

An llms.txt file is a community proposal that some tools read, and Google states that its Search features do not use it. Add one where it helps other systems, using the llms.txt generator, but do not let it stand in for access, rendering and content work.

Blend advertising with earned visibility

OpenAI documents a separate crawler, OAI-AdsBot, for pages submitted as ads on ChatGPT. Paid placement is a media product with its own reporting, and it is never counted as an earned citation in a pack we write.

White label GEO, AI SEO or LLM SEO: is it one service?

Yes. Agencies ask for this work under several names, and each describes the same delivery: making a client retrievable, quotable and consistently described so that assistants name it.

Names agencies use for resold AI visibility work, and what each one stresses
Name you may be asked forWhat the client usually meansHow the scope is usually framed

Our comparison of AEO, GEO and LLM SEO explains where the terms came from, and the generative engine optimization and AI SEO pages describe the direct services. Google’s stated position is that, for its own search features, this work is still SEO. That is a useful sentence to have ready when a client asks whether they are being sold something new.

How do you sell AEO to your own clients honestly?

Sell the measurement and the fixes, not the outcome. A client can be promised a baseline, a set of tested changes and a monthly record of what assistants say; a client cannot be promised a place in an answer.

Most clients arrive with one of a handful of triggers. Each maps to a first step your agency can price.

Sales support we provide

Proposals, audits and calls under your name where you want them: the same sales support described on our white label SEO page.

Free checks you can run in a pitch

The AI visibility checker, the AI crawler access checker and the extractable content checker give a prospect something concrete in the first meeting.

Which clients to offer it to first

Clients whose buyers research before they choose: B2B services, software, professional firms, healthcare groups and considered purchases. Our pages on AEO for B2B companies and AEO for SaaS describe the fit, and AEO by industry lists the rest.

Which clients to steer elsewhere

A single-location trade that wins on ‘near me’ searches usually gets more from listings and reviews today. Local AEO explains why, and giving that advice under your name earns more trust than a retainer would.

White label, referral or building it in-house: which model fits?

White label fits when you want the revenue and the relationship without the hiring risk. A referral fits when AEO is outside what you want to be accountable for. Hiring fits when demand is steady enough to keep a specialist busy.

Four ways an agency can offer AEO
ModelWho the client paysWho is accountableYour marginMain trade-off
White labelYour agencyYour agencySet by youYou carry the promise for work you do not perform
ReferralThe providerThe providerA referral fee, if anyThe client now has a second agency relationship
Disclosed partnershipYour agency, or bothShared, in writingSet by youMore coordination, full transparency
In-house hireYour agencyYour agencyHighest at volumeSalary and tooling before the first sale

An agency can start with resold delivery and bring pieces in-house as volume grows. Because each AEO artifact is a file you keep, that transition does not mean starting again. Our guide to AEO expertise describes the skills a first hire would need.

When this model is the wrong choice

If your client contract forbids subcontracting, or your positioning rests on all work being done by your own staff, use the disclosed model or a referral instead.

How are results measured for your client?

By what assistants actually say when asked the client’s buyer questions, checked against first-party data from Google and Microsoft. Rankings are not the measure, and a single screenshot is not evidence.

  • Mention rate: the share of agreed questions where the client is named, by assistant.
  • Citation rate: the share where the answer links to a client page.
  • Accuracy: whether what is said about the client is correct, with each error traced to the page or listing it came from.
  • Share of answer against named competitors, on the same questions.
  • Impressions in Google’s AI features, from Search Console.
  • Citations in Copilot and Bing, from Bing Webmaster Tools.
  • Sessions and conversions from assistant referrals, in analytics.
  • AI crawler requests and response codes, from server logs.

Assistants do not return the same answer twice, so each question is run more than once and the wording is frozen for the life of the account. Vendor scores are treated as trend indicators only: Google’s guidance is explicit that outside tools cannot see inside its ranking or AI systems, and the same caution belongs in any report your agency signs.

The limits are worth stating to a client early. Our review of AEO myths and the pros and cons of AEO give your account team plain answers to the claims clients bring back from conference talks.

How do agencies look for a resale partner in AI assistants?

They ask an assistant for providers and then for a checklist, and the assistant answers from pages it can retrieve. What gets quoted is specific, published detail: scope, reporting, pricing basis and limits.

An agency owner typing into ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini or Copilot tends to ask in full sentences: who can deliver AEO under a web design agency’s brand, what a white label GEO report should contain, what a reseller should keep in-house. Assistants with web search return those answers with citations to the pages they drew on.

That is why this page puts the deliverables, the client-contact arrangements, the ownership split and the price bands in tables instead of describing a seamless partnership. A table row is a complete fact an assistant can lift and a reader can verify. It is the principle we apply to a client’s pages, and how to get cited by AI sets out the method.

What a provider should publish about itself

Its scope, its measurement method, its position on guarantees and its pricing basis. A provider whose public pages say none of those gives an assistant, and a prospective partner, nothing to check.

How do you choose a white label AEO provider?

Check the things a client would eventually check: a real sample, a method you can repeat, ownership of data, and a clear answer on what will not be promised.

Requirements for a resale AEO provider, and how to check each
RequirementHow to check it
Sample deliverables from real work, redactedAsk for an audit and a monthly report, not a brochure

What should you ask before signing a partner agreement?

Eight questions, sent in writing, tell you most of what you need.

  1. Which documents will my client receive in the first six weeks, and can I see an example of each?
  2. Who on your side will work on my accounts, and can my account lead speak to them?
  3. How do you record a baseline, and do my agency and the client keep the raw answers?
  4. What access do you need to the client’s site, logs and accounts, and at what permission level?
  5. What happens when a client asks for a guarantee?
  6. How are AI tools used on client material, and under which data terms?
  7. What is the notice period per account, and what is handed over at the end?
  8. Will you ever contact my client without me?

If you are choosing a provider for your own business instead of for resale, the selection method is different: see how to choose an AEO agency for the evidence request and scorecard, and our AEO agency page for what a direct engagement involves.

How does a partnership start?

With one account and a reseller agreement. Send the services you want to resell and a typical client, receive the planning ranges and a sample scope, and decide after the first audit whether to add more.

  1. Send the brief: the services you want to resell, a typical client, and one real domain to test.
  2. We run the two checks that decide scope and price: AI crawler access, and what key templates return without scripts.
  3. Agree the partner terms in writing. Ask for confidentiality, non-solicitation, the client-contact arrangement, branding and the review step to be covered.
  4. Agree the first account scope: assistants, questions, deliverables, dates and price.
  5. Receive the baseline and audit under your brand, and review them before the client does.
  6. Present and implement: you present, the site owner ships the fixes, and we test each one.
  7. Report monthly and review at month six, the first point at which the trend is reliable.

Frequently asked questions

What does white label AEO mean for an agency?
It means your agency sells answer engine optimization and Progression Agency delivers it under your name. We scope each client account, record what AI assistants say today, specify and test the fixes, and write the monthly report in your brand. You keep the client, the contract and the price. The work is the same AEO we deliver directly; only the branding and the reporting line change.
How is resold AEO priced for partner agencies?
Each end-client account is quoted in writing from the published planning ranges: a one-off audit from $1,000 to $4,000 and monthly retainers from $1,500 to $20,000 depending on templates, assistants tracked and who implements fixes. Volume terms for several accounts are set in the partner agreement. Your agency sets the retail price and bills the client.
Will my client find out that Progression Agency does the AEO work?
Not from our deliverables. Reports, dashboards and documents carry your brand and, where you want it, calls and email do too; Progression’s name appears only in the contract between the two agencies. If your contract with the client requires subcontractors to be disclosed, raise that before the first account starts and have a disclosed arrangement written into the agreement, because that obligation sits with your agency.
Which deliverables come with a resold AEO account?
Seven work packages: a dated baseline of AI answers, an AI crawler access review, a rendering and extractability review, restructured priority pages, a business facts sheet with corrections, a structured data review and a monthly measurement pack. Digital PR for third-party corroboration can be added. You can review each one before it reaches the client.
Can you deliver white label GEO or white label AI SEO instead of AEO?
Yes, because they are the same delivery under different names. Generative engine optimization, AI SEO, AI search optimization and LLM SEO all describe making a client retrievable, quotable and consistently described so assistants cite it. Use whichever term your client uses in the proposal and reports; the scope and the measurement stay the same.
How quickly can a partner account start?
As soon as site access exists. The crawler access and rendering checks come first because they decide the scope and price. After the account scope is agreed, the audit takes about a working week of review, the baseline is recorded in the first month, and the first fix specifications and rewritten sections follow within roughly six weeks.
Who presents the AEO report to the end client?
Your account lead, in most arrangements. On our white label work, calls carry your brand where you want that, so a specialist can join under your agency’s name. Whichever arrangement you choose with a provider, ask for a briefing before each review that covers what changed, what the client is likely to ask and what should not be promised.
Can my agency edit AEO deliverables before the client sees them?
Yes. You can review any deliverable before it reaches the client; that review step is built into the process. When you edit, leave measured figures as they are and avoid adding promises the method cannot support, because the client will eventually compare the report with its own Search Console and analytics data.
What access does a resale AEO provider need to a client’s accounts?
Read access to Search Console and analytics, an extract of server or CDN logs and a way to view key templates are enough for an audit. On our white label work the client owns the accounts, your agency is the manager and Progression works as an authorized user. Ask any provider to justify write access task by task.
What should a white label AEO agreement say about confidentiality?
It should carry mutual confidentiality covering the partnership itself, your client list, your pricing and the client’s data, a non-solicitation clause that stops the provider marketing to or contracting with a client you introduced, and a bar on naming your clients as public references. On our white label work, Progression’s name appears only in the contract between the agencies.
Can a resale partner guarantee that ChatGPT will cite my client?
No, and your agency should not resell such a guarantee. Assistants choose sources inside systems no agency controls, and answers vary between runs. What can be committed to is the work: a baseline, tested fixes, restructured pages and a monthly record of mentions and citations on a fixed question set, with first-party data alongside.
How is an AEO report different from the SEO reports my agency already sends?
An SEO report tracks positions and organic traffic. An AEO report tracks whether the client is named and linked in answers to a fixed question set, impressions in Google’s AI features, citations in Copilot and Bing, visits from assistants and AI crawler activity. Where you run both services, search results and AI answer results are reported separately.
What does the reselling agency remain responsible for?
The client contract, the retail price, the strategy conversation, approvals and whatever was promised in the sale. Resold delivery moves the labor, not the accountability. Keep sales wording to what the scope can deliver, because your account lead owns the relationship, renewals and any complaint.
Is there a minimum number of client accounts for resold AEO?
No. An agency can start with a single audit for one client and add accounts as demand appears. Agencies that place several accounts agree volume terms in the partner agreement. Each account still has its own written scope, because sites differ in templates, markets and how fixes get released.
Can AEO be added to SEO you already deliver for our clients?
Yes, and the scope is usually smaller that way. Technical SEO already covers crawling, indexing and site structure, so the AEO work reduces to AI crawler access, extractability, the business facts sheet and measurement by question. Search results and AI answer results are then reported separately.
Who implements the technical fixes on a resold account?
Whoever controls the client’s site. We specify each fix and test it. If your agency maintains the site, your developers ship it; if the client has its own developer or host, they do. As on our white label SEO work, fixes can be implemented on WordPress and common platforms or handed to the client’s developer.
How should AI tools be handled on a resold client’s content?
Settle it in the account scope before work starts. Ask the provider to list any AI tools that may touch client material and the data terms they run under, to confirm that a person reviews every output, and to record any client that prohibits AI tools for its material so that the work is done without them.
What happens to the client’s data if the partnership ends?
Client data stays in accounts the client owns, with your agency as manager, and each AEO artifact is a file you keep. Beyond that, a sound agreement states that the provider’s access is removed at the end of an account, that working files are returned or deleted, and that question sets, saved answers and reports are handed over, so the client’s baseline survives the change.
Which clients are a poor fit for resold AEO?
Single-location trades that win on ‘near me’ searches, businesses whose buyers do not research before purchasing, and any client who wants a guaranteed citation. Sites with no working SEO foundation should fix indexing first, since Google’s AI features draw on its search index. Saying so under your name protects the relationship.
How should resold AEO be handled for regulated clients?
Have restructured pages go to the client’s compliance reviewer before release, and keep to claims the client is already permitted to make. No provider should write or seed reviews or testimonials; the FTC’s Consumer Reviews and Testimonials Rule applies to agencies as well as advertisers. Nothing in the work is legal, medical or financial advice.
Does a resold AEO scope include content writing?
It includes restructuring: moving the answer to the top of the section that promises it, adding supporting facts, turning comparisons into tables and aligning markup with the visible page. It does not include article volume or producing pages in bulk, which adds risk without adding visibility.
Do you take on partner agencies outside New York for AEO?
Yes. Progression Agency is based in New York City and works with partner agencies and their clients across the United States and worldwide. The work is done remotely. When a client sells in several countries or languages, ask for the question set to be built and run separately for each market, because answers can differ by country and language.
