Marketing Agency Phoenix, AZ: What a Digital Marketing Agency in Phoenix Should Run Each Month

Updated November 2026 · Written and maintained by the Progression Agency strategy team

Phoenix marketing runs on its own calendar: the Open and Cactus League in February, seasonal residents through the winter, then a summer that averages its first 110 degree day on June 11. Any marketing agency Phoenix AZ owners hire should be able to say what runs in each of those months and why. This calendar does that for local service firms, hospitality and retail, with a separate clock for chip suppliers, then adds fees, Arizona’s phone and text rules and what to ask a firm. Progression is a New York City firm that works with Phoenix clients remotely, beginning with a free proposal and a written scope.

The short answer A good Valley plan changes with the month. It buys early for the February events, courts seasonal residents before and after the holidays, books cooling, pool and pest work in spring, moves offers indoors and earlier in the day through the summer, sets the winter budget in September and keeps a steady technical program running for chip suppliers whose buyers ignore the seasons. Every date on this page comes from a public source named in the text, and every suggestion is our recommendation. Arizona’s phone and text rules apply to outreach, so check them with counsel.

The Cactus League and WM Phoenix Open websites, Visit Phoenix, an ASU News interview from November 2020, the National Weather Service’s Phoenix and Flagstaff pages, the Greater Phoenix Economic Council and the Arizona Legislature’s statute pages were each opened on the site that publishes them in November 2026, and any of them can change. Progression has no connection to either event. No statement here reports a result for a particular company.

Marketing agency Phoenix, AZ calendar: twelve months on one screen

A digital marketing agency in Phoenix earns its retainer by knowing which month it is. The chart lays the year out the way a Valley business lives it: who is around, what is worth pushing and what is better held back. Green bars are dated facts from public sources, and the white boxes are our own recommendations.

A twelve month calendar of the Valley: bars for seasonal residents, the WM Phoenix Open, Cactus League, 100 and 110 degree days and the monsoon, with recommended pushes and pauses for each stretch of the year.A twelve month calendar of the Valley: bars for seasonal residents, the WM Phoenix Open, Cactus League, 100 and 110 degree days and the monsoon, with recommended pushes and pauses for each stretch of the year.
Dates as published by the sources named in the text. The pushes and pauses are recommendations.

Read across a row to see how long something lasts and down a column to see everything competing for attention in one month. A marketing agency in Phoenix that builds the year around that picture will spend differently from one that sends the same plan every month. Marketing in Phoenix is not one market but several that overlap, and digital marketing Phoenix firms sell as a single package has to be cut month by month to fit them. Marketing Phoenix owners pay for in January should look different from what they pay for in July.

How do you read this calendar?

Three kinds of information sit on it. Dated events come from the organizers’ own websites, and they change from year to year, so check them again before you commit money. Weather averages are the National Weather Service’s official figures for 1991 to 2020, not a forecast for any one year. Everything in a white box is a recommendation from us. The table lists each date and who published it.

January to March: the Valley at its fullest

The first quarter is when the Valley is busiest for hospitality, retail and anything sold to visitors. It is also the most expensive stretch to buy attention, which is why the recommendations here lean on buying earlier than everyone else.

January: winter residents settle in

In a 2020 ASU interview, the director of the university’s Center for Sustainable Tourism called Phoenix and Tucson both very popular destinations for snowbirds and Canadians a key snowbird market. Many retirees own homes in Arizona, with Sun City named as an example, and others stay in mobile or RV parks. The director said those who can drive tend to arrive in the late fall or after the holidays, including visitors from Washington, Oregon and Idaho, according to a 2018 study by the same center. The interview gives no counts, and neither does this page. What we would do in January is prebook services for people who are already here, ask for reviews while the experience is fresh and build landing pages that name a home state or province only where that is true of your customers. Our local SEO services page covers the listings and reviews.

  • Offer appointments to people who are already in town.
  • Ask for a review while the visit is fresh.
  • Mention a home state or province on a landing page only when it is true of your customers.

When does the WM Phoenix Open happen, and who should plan around it?

The event’s website gives February 8 to 14, 2027, at TPC Scottsdale, as a PGA TOUR event. Restaurants and hotels near it should push bookings before the week, not during it, because by then the tables and rooms are spoken for and every nearby business is bidding for the same attention. Firms that host clients can use the week for a B2B event, but they should invite early, since calendars fill. Budgets rise for everyone in the area, so buy earlier than the week itself. Our hotel marketing agency and restaurant marketing agency pages cover the channels. We have no connection to the event, and this page makes no claim about attendance or return.

  • Open reservations before the week begins.
  • Invite clients to any hosted event early.
  • Buy media ahead of the week itself.

February and March: Cactus League across ten ballparks

The Cactus League’s website lists fifteen Major League teams, ten ballparks across the Valley and 229 games in February and March 2027, with opening day on Friday, February 19. The schedule changes, so read it again before you plan. A shop, bar or restaurant near one ballpark has a different audience from one across town, so aim map ads and search at the ballpark you are near instead of the whole Valley. Pair this with the visitor channels on our tourism marketing agency page. Stadium sponsorship and in-venue buys belong to an advertising agency in Phoenix, and the media side is covered separately.

  • Aim map ads at the ballpark nearest you.
  • Check the schedule again before each campaign.
  • Compare the first week’s numbers with your own sales.

April and May: last winter customers, first heat buyers

Spring is a handover. The customers who came for the weather start to leave, and the customers who need relief from the heat start to buy. A plan that treats the two months as one will miss both.

April: ask for the return visit

Before winter customers go home, collect their email addresses and ask for the date they expect to come back. Use your own sales data to find the week they typically leave, since no public source gives that date and this page does not guess it. A short message in April that offers a rebooking for next winter costs far less than buying a new customer in January.

  • Collect an email address at the last visit.
  • Ask when the customer plans to return.
  • Send one short rebooking offer before they leave.

May: book cooling, pool and pest work before the heat

The National Weather Service’s official averages for 1991 to 2020 put the first 100 degree day in Phoenix on May 2 and the first 110 degree day on June 11. Households do not wait for the average to book help, so we would have service pages and campaigns ready before it. Switch on search and map campaigns in May, with the service pages finished first. Our home services marketing agency and PPC agency pages describe the pieces.

  • Finish the cooling, pool and pest service pages first.
  • Turn on search and map campaigns once they are ready.
  • Make sure someone answers the phone on the first ring.

June to August: selling through the 110 degree stretch

The same National Weather Service table puts the last 110 degree day of the average year on August 26, so the stretch between June 11 and that date is the hardest of the year to sell outdoors. These are averages for 1991 to 2020, and any given year can start sooner or end later. Hours, offers and creative should move indoors and earlier in the day, restaurants and retail can lean on shaded times and delivery, and promotions that depend on someone standing outside at noon are worth pausing.

  • Move hours and offers earlier in the day.
  • Lean on shaded times and delivery.
  • Pause promotions that need someone outdoors at noon.
  • Keep email and loyalty offers running.

The businesses that gain are the ones whose customers are already inside: cooling and repair services, indoor entertainment, grocery and delivery, schools and gyms. If your trade is outdoor, the summer plan is mostly maintenance, a steady email program and an early start on September.

June 15 to September 30: monsoon weeks

The National Weather Service’s Flagstaff office dates the monsoon season June 15 to September 30. Its page is about northern Arizona, so treat the dates as the official season, not as a forecast for Phoenix. A roofing, restoration or cleanup business can prepare pages and phone coverage before storms arrive, then switch on search the day demand shows up. This page offers no damage statistics and makes no prediction about any storm.

Staying open for residents who stay

Many people live in the Valley year round, and in summer they are the customer. Loyalty offers, early-evening hours and a hotel’s local staycation rate all speak to them. A message that assumes everyone has left will miss the people who are spending money.

September and October: digital marketing services Phoenix firms line up early

By September the heat is easing and the winter market is a few weeks away. The firms that sell winter services have usually planned them by now, so the work of these two months is mostly decisions: the budget, the creative and the order of channels. A buyer who asks for phoenix marketing services in October is already late for November arrivals, so put the plan on paper while the weather is still hot. Our marketing plan template gives a layout.

September: set the winter budget

Count what winter was worth last year from your own books, pick the months it matters most and put money against them first. Bring email back from its summer low, refresh photographs and offers, and book media for February and March before the event weeks push prices up.

  • Count last winter’s revenue by month.
  • Fund the strongest months first.
  • Reserve media for February and March early.

October: prebook before snowbirds drive in

The ASU interview says those who drive tend to arrive in the late fall or after the holidays, and the average last 100 degree day in Phoenix is October 5. Use the month to prebook appointments and reservations, send a message to last season’s customers and finish any landing pages. People who plan a winter stay often decide before they arrive.

  • Prebook appointments and reservations.
  • Write to last season’s customers.
  • Finish the landing pages before arrivals begin.

November and December: arrivals and the year-end close

Seasonal residents return, holiday retail peaks and business buyers spend what is left of their budgets. A marketing company Phoenix retailers hire for the holidays should already have winter creative in market, and an offer aimed at people who have just arrived and are looking for local favorites. For business buyers, December is the last chance to land a proposal before the new year’s budgets are set. Put next year’s Open and Cactus League dates into the plan now, while the organizers are announcing them.

  • Keep winter creative in market through the holidays.
  • Send business buyers a proposal before year-end budgets close.
  • Add next year’s event dates to the plan.

What this marketing calendar costs to run

A calendar costs what its busiest months cost. How much does a marketing agency cost in Phoenix? The published bands are national, and there is no Phoenix-only band, so the table shows retainers and project fees that you can set against your own busiest and slowest months. Progression quotes after a written scope, and the figures below are market figures, not our prices.

Published retainers and projects

Retainers cover the agency’s work and leave out the media itself. A single channel costs less than a full program, and a fixed project suits a plan or a launch that has a clear end.

These are published US price bands (market figures, not a Progression rate card), read in October 2026 from WebFX, Clutch, Credo and Search Engine Journal.
WorkPublished US rangeNotes
Single channel retainer$1,000 to $12,000 a monthOne channel done by a small agency
Full service retainer$5,000 to $50,000 a monthA multi-channel program, excluding media
Fixed scope project$10,000 to $50,000An audit, a plan and a launch
Google Ads management$1,000 to $10,000 a month, or 10% to 20% of ad spendManagement fees exclude the ad spend itself

Ad management on top of media

Paid search and paid social cost the agency’s fee plus the media. In February and March the media itself costs more, and in July it often costs less, so a calendar that shifts spending toward the cheaper months can stretch a fixed budget. A percent-of-spend fee grows with the budget, while a flat fee does not.

Chip suppliers keep a different clock

The Greater Phoenix Economic Council says Greater Phoenix is the fourth-largest US metro for semiconductor manufacturing employment and offers a workforce of more than 189,000 in relevant occupations. It lists Intel and TSMC among the operations in the region and onsemi, Microchip Technology, Amkor Technology and ASM America among the headquarters. The council promotes the region, so treat its figures as its own. A supplier to those companies sells to engineers and procurement teams, who follow program and qualification timelines and trade events instead of the snowbird season.

Who buys, and when?

The table sets a seasonal consumer business next to a chip supplier.

For a supplier the plan is steady technical content and account targeting, with no summer lull. Our manufacturing marketing agency page covers the content, and our LinkedIn ads agency page covers reaching named accounts.

Selling statewide from the Valley

A supplier that serves the whole state looks for a marketing company Arizona buyers already trust, and for a marketing agency Arizona wide that can organize the work by city and by industry. The point is the same as above: the buyer sets the clock, and the plan follows.

Direct marketing in the Valley: phone and text rules come first

Direct marketing Phoenix companies run usually means mail, phone or text, and in Arizona only the mail is simple. The statutes below were read on the Legislature’s website, and this section is general information, not legal advice. Ask counsel before you rely on it. For mail, our direct mail marketing page covers the planning.

Three cards summarizing Arizona statutes on telephone solicitation: the national do-not-call registry and text messages, seller registration and exemptions, and caller ID, stop requests and prerecorded calls.Three cards summarizing Arizona statutes on telephone solicitation: the national do-not-call registry and text messages, seller registration and exemptions, and caller ID, stop requests and prerecorded calls.
A summary of A.R.S. 44-1282, 44-1272, 44-1273 and 44-1278(B). Ask counsel before relying on it.

A.R.S. 44-1282 says a seller or solicitor, or anyone acting for one, shall not initiate an outbound telephone solicitation call or text message to a number on the national do-not-call registry. It does not apply to solicitations that federal law authorizes or permits, or to a narrow set of calls by real estate licensees. A violation is an unlawful practice, the Attorney General may investigate, and the civil penalty may not exceed $1,000 per violation. Whether a particular text is a telephone solicitation is a question for counsel.

Telephone seller registration and its exemptions

Under 44-1272, a seller files a verified registration statement with the Secretary of State before soliciting any consumer in or from Arizona, renews it annually and pays a fee. Section 44-1273 then lists sellers that need not register, and sellers that file a limited statement instead.

Caller ID, stop requests and prerecorded calls

Section 44-1278(B) makes it an unlawful practice, in a telephone solicitation in Arizona, to block caller ID, to call someone who has said not to, or to intentionally make an unsolicited telephone sales call to a mobile device. It also bars prerecorded calls to residential lines without prior express consent, unless the call is for an emergency. A seller is not liable for a call that follows a stop request if it has written procedures, trained its staff, keeps a no-call list for at least ten years and made the call by error. Ask counsel how this applies to your outreach.

Marketing agencies Phoenix, AZ owners shortlist: hand them this calendar

A shortlist of marketing agencies Phoenix AZ owners compare is easier to judge if every firm answers the same question. Hand each one this calendar and ask for a plan for your own trade, month by month. Whether you are looking at marketing companies in Phoenix AZ, a digital marketing agency Phoenix AZ founders already know or a firm based elsewhere, the test is the same.

A digital marketing agency Phoenix buyers hire should be able to say which of the twelve months matter for you, what it would run in each and what it would stop. Any digital marketing company Phoenix companies call should be willing to put that in writing. The same goes for a phoenix internet marketing company or any of the phoenix internet marketing companies on your list, a marketing consultant Phoenix owners hire for a few hours and the phoenix marketing firms that are new to you. Do not accept a generic plan, and do not accept a ranking list as a substitute for an answer.

Row: Your own trade. Ask the firm to fill in your row of the calendar before anything is signed.
July: What gets cut. Ask what it would stop in July and what it would keep running.
Accounts: Who owns the ad accounts. Ask that the ad accounts, analytics and listings sit in your name.
Reports: What the monthly report shows. Ask for calls, bookings and sales from each month, not impressions.
Phones: Calling and texting rules. Ask how the firm handles Arizona's do-not-call rules for any outreach.
Scope: What is written down. Ask for the months, the channels and the fees in one written scope.

What should each firm fill in?

Ask the firm to complete your row of the calendar: the months that matter, the channels it would use and the amount it would put in each. Then ask it to say what it would cut in July. A firm that has worked through the year will answer both without hesitating.

Who owns the ad accounts?

The ad accounts, analytics and listings should sit in your name so that you can leave without losing history. Get that in the scope before the first invoice.

For the site that carries the plan, our website design and development page describes the build, and a web design company in Phoenix covers the Valley’s city pages and licensing questions separately. Frequently asked questions

What does a marketing agency in Phoenix, AZ do across a full year?
It changes the work with the month. A Valley plan buys early for February’s events, courts seasonal residents around the holidays, books cooling, pool and pest work in spring, shifts offers indoors in summer and sets the winter budget in September.
What does a digital marketing agency in Phoenix change in summer?
Hours, offers and creative move indoors and earlier in the day, and outdoor promotions at midday are paused. The National Weather Service’s averages put the first 110 degree day on June 11 and the last on August 26, so the shift covers most of the summer.
When should a marketing agency in Phoenix start on winter campaigns?
In September. That is when the budget is set, the creative is refreshed and media for February and March is booked before the event weeks raise prices.
Do seasonal residents matter for a service business or only for hospitality?
They matter for both. Many own homes in Arizona or stay in mobile or RV parks, according to a 2020 ASU interview, and a home needs cooling, pool and pest work as much as a hotel needs guests. How much they matter depends on your own customer data.
When is the WM Phoenix Open in 2027, and who should plan around it?
The event’s website gives February 8 to 14, 2027, at TPC Scottsdale. Restaurants and hotels nearby, and firms that host clients that week, should plan around it and buy before the week itself.
Is Cactus League advertising worth it for a shop near a ballpark?
It can be, if the shop is near one of the ten ballparks, since the audience changes by location. Aim map ads and search at that ballpark, and check your own numbers after the first week.
Does the monsoon change a marketing plan?
For storm-driven trades it does. The National Weather Service dates the season June 15 to September 30. Prepare pages and phone coverage before it starts, then switch on search when demand appears.
How is marketing different for a semiconductor supplier in the Valley?
The buyers are engineers and procurement teams who follow program and qualification timelines, not the seasons. The Greater Phoenix Economic Council describes a large cluster, and a supplier’s plan is steady technical content and account targeting all year.
Can a Phoenix business text customers to advertise?
Not to a number on the national do-not-call registry, except where federal law permits. A.R.S. 44-1282 bars outbound telephone solicitation calls and text messages to those numbers, and A.R.S. 44-1278 adds conduct rules. This is general information, so ask counsel about your own messages.
How much should a Valley business budget for agency fees?
There is no Phoenix-only band. Published US price bands (market figures, not a Progression rate card) run from $1,000 to $12,000 a month for a single channel and from $5,000 to $50,000 a month for a full program, with Progression quoting after a written scope.
Can a New York firm run a Phoenix calendar?
Yes. Progression is a New York City firm that works with Phoenix clients remotely, with no Phoenix office. The calendar is built from public dates and from your own sales data, and the work does not need us in the Valley.
Should a Phoenix business pause marketing in July?
Not entirely. Pause the outdoor, midday promotions and keep email, search and loyalty offers running. The summer plan protects customers who stay and prepares for September.
When do Cactus League games start in 2027?
The league’s website lists opening day as Friday, February 19, 2027, with 229 games in February and March. Schedules change, so check the site before you plan.
What is the average first 110 degree day in Phoenix?
June 11, and the average last is August 26, according to the National Weather Service’s figures for 1991 to 2020. They are averages, so a particular year can differ.
When is monsoon season in Arizona?
The National Weather Service dates it June 15 to September 30. Its page is about northern Arizona, so use the dates as the official season and not as a forecast for the Valley.
Do small businesses in Phoenix need to register to make sales calls?
Sometimes. A.R.S. 44-1272 requires a seller to register with the Secretary of State before soliciting consumers, and 44-1273 lists exemptions, such as certain retail businesses. A seller who claims an exemption has the burden of proving it, so ask counsel.
What happens if a business texts someone on the national registry?
A violation of A.R.S. 44-1282 is an unlawful practice, the Attorney General may investigate and the civil penalty may not exceed $1,000 per violation. The statute is read here in general terms, and counsel can answer for a specific case.
What should a Phoenix restaurant do before the Open?
Open bookings early and buy before the week, since nearby businesses compete for the same attention during it. Decide what to do for walk-in demand ahead of time, and do not rely on the event to fill tables.
How early should a Valley business set its winter budget?
In September. Count what winter earned last year from your books, put money against the strongest months first and book media before February.
What should a chip supplier measure?
Qualified inquiries from engineering and procurement roles, meetings with named accounts and the time from first contact to a qualification, instead of seasonal swings.
