Pinterest SEO Services: Pinterest Marketing Services and Pin Management That Turn Pinterest Searches Into Store Visits

Updated October 2026 · Written and maintained by the Progression Agency strategy team

Pinterest SEO services make your pins show up when people search Pinterest to plan a purchase, then send those people to the right page on your site. Pinterest works as a visual search engine: the words in pin titles, descriptions and boards, and the page each pin links to, decide what gets found. We run organic Pinterest for ecommerce and visual brands: keyword research, board structure, pin design and copy, scheduling, rich pins, product catalogs and measurement in GA4. Paid Pinterest ads sit with our social advertising team. Below: how Pinterest search works, what we do, who it suits, timing and prices.

The short answerPinterest is a place where people search to plan and shop, so the work is to make your pins, boards and product pages answer those searches. We handle keyword research, boards, pin design and copy, scheduling, rich pins, catalogs and reporting, and the business keeps ownership of the account. Pinterest sends visits to your site; it does not change where your pages rank on Google, and we do not promise it will. Results arrive in stages, with saves and impressions first and sales later, and we promise no figures. Our social packages start at $850 a month.

Prices are Progression’s published social packages and SEO retainers plus labeled US market bands. Pinterest pages named here were read in October 2026 and may change. General information, not legal or financial advice.

What is Pinterest SEO, and how does it work?

Pinterest SEO is the practice of writing and organizing pins, boards and linked pages so they appear when people search inside Pinterest. Some call it Pinterest search engine optimization; it works on Pinterest’s own search, not on Google’s. Pinterest describes itself as a place where people “discover new ideas, plan and shop,” and the search bar is how many of them start.

Pinterest as a visual search engine

On Pinterest, a person types a phrase, scrolls through images and saves the ones that fit a plan: a kitchen, a menu, a wedding, a gift list. Pinterest’s own Trends help article describes search volume as the ratio of searches for a term to all searches on the platform. For a store, the useful part is that these searchers are often early in a purchase. They are looking for ideas, and the pins that match their words get saved and visited.

What Pinterest reads: titles, descriptions, boards and the linked page

A pin has several parts that can say what it is about: its image, its title and description, the board it is saved to and the page it links to. We write all of them to agree with one another. Pinterest does not publish a ranking formula, so we make no claim about weights; we describe the parts and test what gets saved and clicked. The linked page matters because a pin that promises one thing and lands on another loses the visitor.

Does Pinterest use keywords?

Yes, in the sense that search runs on the words people type. Pinterest Trends charts keyword graphs over time, which is direct evidence that searches are tracked as phrases. The practical rule is to write titles, descriptions and board names in plain words that match how a buyer would describe the item. Stuffing a description with strings of phrases or hashtags does not help a reader and we do not do it.

Current Pinterest audience size

Pinterest’s investor site says over 600 million people around the world come to the platform each month. The page we read in October 2026 names no quarter for that figure, so treat it as a round indication of scale rather than a dated count. Audience size matters less than whether your buyers are among it, which the fit chart further down helps you judge.

Does Pinterest help with SEO on Google?

Pinterest sends referral visits to your site. We do not treat it as a Google ranking factor, and we do not claim that pins lift your pages in Google search. Think of it as a second search channel with its own audience.

Referral visits, not a Google ranking boost

People often ask whether Pinterest helps with SEO, or whether it is good for SEO. Is Pinterest good for SEO on Google? The honest answer is that a pin can bring a steady flow of visitors who click through to a product or article, and that traffic is worth having for its own sake. Whether those visits change how a page ranks on Google is not something we claim, and we measure Pinterest by what it brings, not by an effect on Google.

Pinterest SEO and Google SEO side by side

The two share a habit, which is matching words to what people want, but they differ in where the search happens and how long content lasts. For the Google side of a store, see our pages on ecommerce SEO and Shopify SEO.

Why is Pinterest good for brands that sell visual products?

A shopper planning a room, a dress or a dinner needs to see the thing, and Pinterest is built around images that can be saved and compared. Brands whose products look good in a picture and are bought after some planning, such as furniture, food, fashion and gifts, give Pinterest searchers something to act on.

Pinterest account management

Pinterest account management starts with who holds the logins, and the answer is the business. You own the account, the claimed domain and the content; we work as a named user with the roles the work needs, and posting, boards and replies run from there. If we part ways, the account stays with you.

Pin management and scheduling

Pin management covers the pins themselves: creating them, writing their copy, choosing their boards and scheduling them. Our Pinterest pin management work keeps a library of pins for each product family or article so the account does not depend on one burst of activity. For how often a business should publish, see below.

Pinterest SEO strategy: from keyword research to boards

A Pinterest SEO strategy begins with the words buyers use and ends with boards and pins arranged around them. Teams that treat Pinterest SEO strategies as a posting calendar miss the research that makes pins findable.

Pinterest keyword research uses two sources. The search bar suggests phrases as you type, which shows what people are asking for. The Pinterest Trends tool charts how a term has moved: its help article says it shows a history of up to two years, lets you choose a region and a date range, and normalizes search volume so the peak on a graph reads as 100. Moments, which are seasonal and cultural events, show how interest builds, peaks and cools. The tool asks you to sign in to a business account for some features. We combine both sources into a list of phrases per product family.

Pinterest board optimization is naming and arranging boards so each one answers a search. A board called “Kitchen” is vague; a board named for a style, a size or an occasion matches a phrase. We keep each board focused on one idea, and we name it in the words a buyer would type.

Seasonal planning ahead of holidays

Searches for seasonal items start building before the season, and the Moments view in Pinterest Trends shows that build and decline. We use it to schedule pins ahead of a peak, not during it. We set no fixed lead time, because each category moves differently.

A Pinterest SEO checklist

A Pinterest SEO checklist is short because the fundamentals are few. These six cover most of it:

Claim: Website claimed. Your domain is claimed in the business account, so pins from your site link to your profile.
Boards: Boards named for searches. Each board title is a phrase a buyer would actually type.
Titles: Pins titled for search. Titles and descriptions say what the product or page is, in plain words.
Rich: Rich pins on. Page metadata is in place, so product and article details travel with each pin.
Catalog: Catalog connected. A product feed is ingested and matches the live product pages.
Tag: Tag installed. The Pinterest tag is on the site, with GA4 reporting set up beside it.

Pin design and copy that gets saved and clicked

A pin has to do two things: look worth saving and say, in words, what is behind it. Good SEO for Pinterest pins joins an image that stops the scroll to copy that matches a search.

Titles should name the thing plainly, with the most important words first. Descriptions add detail, such as materials, sizes, occasions or uses, in sentences a person would read. We write each pin’s copy for its product or article and avoid repeating one description across hundreds of pins.

Image formats, text overlays and video pins

Pinterest’s creative best practices page recommends a vertical image at a 2:3 ratio, such as 1000 by 1500 pixels, and warns that larger aspect ratios may get cut off in feeds. It also suggests a layout with a text overlay at the top and detail beneath. Video pins suit products that move, and our video production team can make the footage.

One pin, one destination page

Each pin should link to the one page that delivers what it shows: the product, the recipe, the article. A pin that sends a visitor to a home page makes the visitor look again for what they saw, and many do not.

Pinterest rich pins and a claimed website

Claiming your site ties your Pinterest profile to the pins that come from your domain, and Pinterest rich pins pull live details from your pages. Together they make pins more useful to the person who finds them.

Claiming your website

Pinterest’s help article says claiming links your profile to pins saved from your site, shows your profile picture on them, adds an option to follow you and gives insight into how often your content is shared. You can claim with an HTML tag, an HTML file, a DNS TXT record or, for some accounts, Google Merchant Center. You must own the domain and be able to edit its source, and each website can be claimed by only one Pinterest account. The article adds that most social accounts and marketplace stores, including Etsy, eBay and Amazon, cannot be claimed. Details are in the claim your website article.

Rich pins from your site’s metadata

Pinterest rich pins show extra details taken from your pages. The rich pins help article describes recipe, article and product versions, with product pins showing current price and availability. It says to add Open Graph or Schema.org markup to the pages, that syncing may take up to 24 hours, and that product pins need the item in stock and the price accurate. We check the markup on your pages so the details are right.

Pinterest business account without a website

A Pinterest business account without a website is possible. Pinterest says a business account is not required to claim a site, and its catalog guide lists getting a business account and claiming a website as separate steps. What you give up without a claim is the claim benefits above, and catalogs, which require a claimed website. For a store, that makes claiming the first job.

Pinterest for ecommerce: catalogs and product pins

Pinterest for ecommerce works best when the product catalog and the pins agree: the same item, price and availability on the pin and on the product page. Pinterest marketing for ecommerce is mostly the discipline of keeping that agreement.

Product catalogs from Shopify, WooCommerce and other feeds

A catalog is a product feed that Pinterest ingests. Pinterest’s catalog requirements call for a business account, a claimed website and a site that meets its merchant guidelines, with a shipping policy, a refund policy and easy-to-find contact details. The feed must carry id, title, description, link, image link, price and availability, and the article warns that missing or badly formatted fields can make the whole catalog fail. Supported formats include TSV, CSV, XML and Google Sheets. The data source article adds that hosted feeds are ingested once every 24 hours, while a manually uploaded file must be refreshed within 30 days for products to keep being distributed organically. Most store platforms can produce a feed in one of those formats, directly or with an app, so the Pinterest catalog Shopify merchants use is built the same way as one for a WooCommerce shop; check each platform’s current options. See our Shopify marketing and WooCommerce SEO pages for the store side.

Product pins that match the product page

A product pin should show the price, availability and image that the product page shows. When stock runs out or a price changes, the feed and the pins should follow, so that a shopper is never sent to an empty page.

How to use Pinterest for ecommerce

How to use Pinterest for ecommerce in five steps:

  1. Claim the website in a business account.
  2. Connect the product catalog and check that it matches the site.
  3. Build boards by product category, named for how buyers search.
  4. Create pins for each product, with copy written for search.
  5. Measure outbound clicks, sessions and sales, then adjust.

Who Pinterest suits, and who it does not

Pinterest suits visual brands whose buyers plan, and is a poor fit for most B2B and urgent local services. Is Pinterest good for small business? Yes, when the business sells something that photographs well and is bought after some thought. A good Pinterest marketing company says so before taking the work.

Strong fits: home, food, fashion, beauty, weddings, DIY and gifts

These categories combine pictures, planning and purchase. Our pages for specific fields include furniture store marketing, wedding planner marketing, wedding venue marketing, fashion social media marketing, beauty marketing, florist marketing, food social media marketing, photography marketing and interior design SEO.

This is an editorial view of common fits, not a measurement.

Weak fits: most B2B and urgent local services

Someone with a burst pipe does not search Pinterest, and a buyer of industrial parts does not plan a purchase through images. If your business is in either camp, we will say so, and the budget is usually better spent elsewhere.

Etsy sellers

Pinterest’s claim article says most marketplace stores, such as Etsy, cannot be claimed, so the approach differs for those sellers. It is covered on our Etsy SEO services page.

Choosing a Pinterest partner for organic growth

An agency, a Pinterest manager and a Pinterest VA are three ways to staff the same job, and the right one depends on what has to be done. Scope decides, not title.

What a Pinterest manager or VA covers well

A Pinterest manager or a Pinterest VA is a good fit for regular scheduling, upkeep and responding to account activity, when the strategy and the pin design are already settled. It is an efficient way to keep an account moving, and there is nothing wrong with it.

When a Pinterest consultant or agency is worth it

A Pinterest consultant or agency earns its fee when the work is cross-functional: catalogs, measurement, site fixes, several brands or a team that needs a plan. A Pinterest SEO agency can carry the whole plan, from the claimed website to the catalog. A Pinterest SEO expert or a Pinterest SEO consultant working alone suits a brand whose site is already in order, and a Pinterest SEO specialist on staff covers the daily work. What matters is that someone understands both Pinterest and the site behind it.

Hiring a Pinterest marketing specialist in-house

A specialist on staff gives daily attention and deep product knowledge. The trade-off is that one person must cover research, design, copy and reporting. We give no salary figures here, since we have not checked a source for them.

What Pinterest posting schedule suits a business?

How often should a business post on Pinterest? The answer is a cadence the account can keep up month after month; we explain the reasoning in our guide to how often a business should post on social media.

A cadence the account can keep up

A steady rhythm that continues beats a burst that stops. We set a cadence by product range, available images and the time the business has to approve work. The numbers and the reasoning are in our cadence guide, and we do not restate them here.

Measuring Pinterest: outbound clicks, saves and sales

Measurement on Pinterest runs from impressions, to saves and outbound clicks, to sessions and sales on your site. Each layer answers a different question.

Pinterest Analytics and what each metric means

Pinterest Analytics is the built-in report. Its help article defines impressions as the number of times pins were on screen, saves as the times people saved a pin to a board, pin clicks as clicks that open a pin in closeup and outbound clicks as actions that lead people to a destination off Pinterest. Engagements count saves, pin clicks, outbound clicks and similar actions together. Outbound clicks are the nearest metric to site visits.

The Pinterest tag and conversions API

The Pinterest tag is code on your website. The tag help article describes it mainly as a way to measure and optimize ad campaigns, requires a business account and says installation must be done from a desktop, with changes taking up to 24 hours to show in Ads Manager. The conversions API article describes a server-to-server alternative that works alongside the tag, with events deduplicated by an event ID. For an organic-only plan, the main readings come from Pinterest Analytics and GA4; the tag and API matter if ads run later or if you want conversions recorded inside Pinterest.

Pinterest sessions and revenue in GA4

In GA4 we look at Pinterest as its own source of sessions and revenue, and we tag the links on pins with UTM parameters so each campaign can be told apart. This keeps the story honest: Pinterest is judged by visits and sales on your site, not by saves alone.

What we report each month

Our social packages include a monthly report, and that is the reporting we describe here. It covers what happened on the account and what it brought to the site.

How long does Pinterest SEO take to show up in saves and sales?

Saves and impressions usually appear first, and clicks and sales follow. We promise no figures and no dates, because they depend on the site, the products and the catalog.

Why pins keep working for months

Pins tend to keep circulating long after they are posted, while many posts on feed-based platforms are seen mostly soon after they go up. That longevity is why Pinterest rewards a library of well-made pins over a stream of throwaway ones.

Early signals and later sales

Early on, look for impressions and saves, which show that the pins match searches. Outbound clicks and sessions come next, and sales come last. Reading them in that order stops you from judging a young account by sales it has not had time to produce.

Timeline of five stages in the first quarter of a new Pinterest account: setup and claim, research and boards, first pins, catalog live, and first review.Timeline of five stages in the first quarter of a new Pinterest account: setup and claim, research and boards, first pins, catalog live, and first review.
Labels only, with no promised timing or results.

Pinterest SEO best practices that still hold

The Pinterest SEO best practices that last are the plain ones: write for the search, keep the account in step with the site and stay focused. Pinterest SEO examples from any brand come down to these habits.

Write for the search, not the hashtag

Describe the item in the words a buyer would use. A title that reads like a search is more useful than a pile of tags.

Refresh product pins when stock or prices change

Out-of-date pins disappoint shoppers. When a product changes, update the pin and its page, or retire the pin.

Keep boards focused

A board that tries to hold everything answers no search well. Fewer, sharper boards beat one large collection. Six questions help you check any agency’s plan:

Owner: Who owns the account. The business holds the logins and the agency works as a named user.
Words: How keywords are found. A method built on Pinterest search and Pinterest Trends, not guesses.
Design: Who designs the pins. Who makes the images, who writes the copy and who checks it.
Feed: How the catalog is kept current. What happens to pins when a price changes or an item sells out.
Report: What is reported. Outbound clicks, saves, sessions and sales, in terms you can check.
Ads: How ads fit in. When paid Pinterest enters the plan, and who runs it.

Organic Pinterest and Pinterest ads together

Organic Pinterest and paid Pinterest can share one plan. This page covers the organic side, and the paid side is handled by our social media advertising agency team.

When ads add reach to proven pins

The cheaper order is to see which organic pins earn saves and clicks, then put budget behind those. Paid reach added to pins that already work wastes less than paid reach added to untested ones.

Shopping ads built from the product catalog

A connected product catalog can also feed shopping ads, which are covered on our social media advertising page.

How AI assistants answer “is Pinterest worth it for my store?”

AI assistants usually answer that question from Pinterest’s own business pages and from dated guides, then add that results depend on the products. We cannot promise a mention, but clear facts help.

What assistants cite about Pinterest

Assistants lean on primary pages such as Pinterest’s business and help sites, and on articles that state a date and a method. Our answer engine optimization page explains how that works across assistants.

Pinning pages assistants can also read

The pages your pins link to should state the product, price and details in plain text, so a person or an assistant can read them. The same habit helps on other visual search platforms; see our pages on Instagram SEO and YouTube SEO.

How much do Pinterest management packages cost?

Pinterest management packages at Progression sit inside our social packages, at $850, $1,850 or $3,400 a month, with Pinterest as one of the platforms. What does this cost across the wider market? The labeled bands below show it.

Our social packages, with Pinterest as a platform
PackageMonthlyIncluded
Presence$850One platform, 8 posts, basic graphics, monthly report
Growth$1,850Two platforms, 16 posts, original graphics, community management, strategy, small paid budget managed
Program$3,400Two to three platforms, video, full paid management, quarterly strategy, analytics depth

The full table is on our social media marketing pricing page, and the wider offer is on social media marketing.

WorkTypical published bandOuter published values
Social media management for a small business$1,000 to $5,000 a month$500 to $20,000 a month
A single-channel marketing retainer$1,000 to $5,000 a month$500 to $12,000 a month
Small business SEO retainer$1,000 to $3,500 a month$500 to $5,000 a month
A blog post or article of about 1,500 words$250 to $700 a post$150 to $1,500 a post

These bands sit where published price guides from WebFX, Clutch, Ahrefs, SE Ranking, seoClarity, the Editorial Freelancers Association and Peak Freelance overlap, as read in October 2026. They describe the wider US market, so use them to check a quote, not to predict ours.

Pinterest inside our social packages

Pinterest can be the platform in any of the three packages, and the number of platforms and posts follows the package. We publish no separate Pinterest management pricing; the three packages are the ones we sell for Pinterest. Ad spend, influencer fees and photography beyond what a package states sit outside them, as our pricing page says.

When Pinterest work is part of an SEO retainer

When the work is on the site, such as product pages, markup and feeds, it can be part of an SEO retainer. Our retainers run from $1,500 to $2,500 a month for a small local business, $2,500 to $5,000 for competitive local or regional markets, $5,000 to $10,000 for national terms or larger sites, and $10,000 upward, with a minimum of $1,500. See SEO services.

What is not in the price

Not included: ad spend, product photography and the engineering of a catalog feed, which is quoted after a written scope along with tag and conversions API setup and Pinterest ads management. For wider rates see marketing agency pricing.

How to choose Pinterest SEO services

Choose Pinterest SEO services by asking who owns the account, how keywords are found and what gets reported. Good providers answer those plainly and promise no ranking or sales figures.

Questions to ask a Pinterest agency

Beyond the six questions above, ask to see how an agency handles a claimed website, a catalog feed and measurement, and who does each task. Be wary of anyone who quotes sales figures in advance.

Frequently asked questions

What do Pinterest SEO services include for an online store?
Keyword research, board structure, pin design and copy, scheduling, rich pins, a connected product catalog and reporting. The aim is that pins appear for the searches your buyers make and send them to the right product page.
Is Pinterest a search engine or a social network?
It behaves as both. People follow accounts and browse a feed, but many start by typing a search to plan something, and Pinterest Trends reports search volume across the platform. For a store, the search side is the part you can plan around.
Do pins help a website rank on Google?
We do not claim that. Pins send visits from Pinterest to your pages, and those visits have value on their own. Whether a pin changes how a page ranks on Google is not something we promise, so we judge Pinterest by traffic and sales.
What does Pinterest management cost compared with running it yourself?
Running it yourself costs time rather than fees. Our social packages are $850, $1,850 or $3,400 a month, and Pinterest can be a platform in them. Published US price bands (market figures, not a Progression rate card) for social management run from $1,000 to $5,000 a month in the typical range.
What do Pinterest management services hand back to the business owner?
You keep the account access, the boards, the library of pins and the reports. Because the business owns the account from the start, nothing needs to be handed over later, and the claimed domain stays in your name.
Who should own the Pinterest business account when an agency runs it?
The business. Pinterest account management works best when you hold the logins and the agency works as a named user with the roles it needs. If you change agencies, the account, the boards and the claimed website stay with you.
How is a Pinterest SEO strategy different from an Instagram plan?
Pinterest is built around search intent, so the plan starts with the phrases buyers type and arranges boards and pins around them. Pins also tend to keep circulating, while many Instagram posts are seen mainly when new.
How do you find what people search for on Pinterest?
We use the Pinterest search bar, which suggests phrases as you type, and Pinterest Trends, which shows how searches change by region and over time. The two together give a list of phrases per product family.
What are rich pins, and are they worth setting up?
Rich pins show details taken from your page, such as price and availability on a product. Pinterest’s help article says they sync from Open Graph or Schema.org markup. For a store, they keep pins accurate, so they are worth checking.
Can Pinterest run straight from a Shopify catalog?
A catalog needs a business account, a claimed website and a feed with the required fields. Most store platforms can produce such a feed, directly or through an app, so a Shopify store can usually connect. Check the current options for your platform.
Which kinds of businesses get the least from Pinterest?
Most B2B companies and urgent local services, such as emergency repairs. Their buyers do not plan purchases through images. If your business is one of these, we will tell you plainly and suggest where the budget works harder.
Is Pinterest good for a small business with a few products?
Yes, if the products are visual and bought after some planning. A small catalog can be covered with a handful of focused boards and a library of pins per product. If the products do not photograph well, other channels will do more.
Is Pinterest worth it for a local service business?
Only when there is visual work to show, such as kitchens, gardens, weddings or cakes, and buyers plan ahead. For urgent services, people search elsewhere, and Pinterest will bring little. We say so before taking the work.
Is a freelance Pinterest manager enough, or do we need an agency?
Scope decides. A freelance manager is a good fit for steady scheduling and upkeep once the plan exists. An agency earns its fee when the work includes catalogs, measurement, site fixes or several brands.
How many pins does a business account need each week?
Enough that the account can keep going for months. We set a sustainable cadence by product range and the time you have to approve work, and our guide on how often to post on social media explains the reasoning.
Which numbers show Pinterest is bringing in sales?
Outbound clicks in Pinterest Analytics, then sessions and revenue from Pinterest in GA4. Where the Pinterest tag is installed, conversions it records give a further reading. Saves and impressions are early signals, not sales.
How soon do new pins start bringing visits to the site?
Saves and impressions usually come first, with clicks and sales later. We promise no timing, since it depends on the site, the products, the catalog and how well the pins match searches.
What is in your Pinterest management packages?
They sit inside our social packages: Presence is one platform with 8 posts, basic graphics and a monthly report, Growth is two platforms with 16 posts and strategy, and Program is two to three platforms with video and quarterly strategy. Pinterest can be a platform in each.
Can organic Pinterest and Pinterest ads run from one plan?
Yes. The organic work shows which pins earn saves and clicks, and paid reach can then back the best of them. Pinterest ads are run through our social media advertising service, and the plan is shared.
Can a Pinterest business account work without a website?
It can, but with fewer features. Without a claimed website you lose the claim benefits, and catalogs require a claimed site. For a store, claiming the domain is the first step.
How do AI assistants decide whether to recommend Pinterest to a store?
They tend to draw on Pinterest’s own business pages and on dated guides, and on how well your products suit the platform. Nobody can promise a recommendation, but clear product pages and accurate facts help.
Does Progression manage Pinterest accounts for brands outside New York?
Yes. Progression Agency is based in New York City and works with clients across the United States and worldwide. The work is done remotely, and the account stays in your name.
