SEO Company in Cleveland: A 100 Point Scorecard Before You Hire a Cleveland SEO Company

Updated November 2026 · Written and maintained by the Progression Agency strategy team

Hiring an SEO company in Cleveland only pays if you know what your site is missing, so this page starts with a blank 100 point scorecard. It is written for Northeast Ohio manufacturers and health suppliers, where few people search and a single purchasing engineer can decide a long contract. You get ten checks, two worked scores for firms we made up to show the arithmetic, what each score range costs to fix, and a way to mark bidders with the same card. Progression is based in New York and serves Cleveland clients remotely, with on-site sessions on request.

The short answer Score your own site before you ask anyone to quote. The card has ten checks that add to 100 points, and the first four carry the most because a visitor who cannot act on a page is worth nothing to a shop that sells by quote. The weights are our judgment for this kind of buyer and are not a Google score. Two worked examples, both made up, show the arithmetic and why one point of difference can send two firms in opposite directions. Fee ranges come after the score, and the FDA wording is what the agency says on its own pages, not legal advice.

The scorecard and its weights are our own editorial judgment and do not predict rankings. Facts about the region come from MAGNET, the Cleveland Health-Tech Corridor and Team NEO, each attributed where it appears. The FDA statements were read on the agency’s own pages in November 2026. We could not read BioEnterprise’s site or the eCFR text of 21 CFR 807.39, so nothing here comes from them. Both firms in the worked scores are invented. Ask regulatory counsel before you use any FDA wording.

What an SEO company in Cleveland should mark first

Search for a Cleveland SEO company and you will find plenty of firms, so bring your own measure. Checks 1 and 2 carry 15 points each because traffic with no page to act on is worth nothing to a shop that sells by quote.

Some firms will send you a report with a score of their own. If an SEO company in Cleveland, OH sends you a score, ask what each point stands for and how you would check it yourself. A Cleveland search engine optimization company should be able to mark this card for your site before it quotes.

Why do checks 1 and 2 carry the most points?

A shop that sells by quote needs two things from a visitor: to see that you do the work and to send the drawing. Nothing else on the card matters if either is missing.

Is the weighting a Google measure?

No. It is our editorial view for this kind of buyer. A different buyer would weight the card differently.

Why a handful of searches can carry a Northeast Ohio maker

MAGNET’s Blueprint says Northeast Ohio has 10,000 manufacturers, 98% of them small or medium-sized, and 270,000 manufacturing jobs. Team NEO describes itself as the JobsOhio network partner for Northeast Ohio across 14 counties.

10,000: Manufacturers. MAGNET's Blueprint says Northeast Ohio has about this many.
98%: Small and medium-sized. MAGNET says this share of those manufacturers is small or medium-sized.
270,000: Jobs. MAGNET gives this figure for manufacturing jobs in the region.
14: Counties. Team NEO says it advances business growth across 14 counties.

Here is our reasoning, and it is reasoning, not a measurement. A shop of 28 people does not need many visitors, only the few who can place an order. A low-volume phrase that a purchasing engineer types can therefore matter more than a broad one. Our pages on SEO for manufacturers and industrial SEO take that idea further.

Checks one to four: can a buyer act on the page?

These four checks decide whether a visitor can do anything. They add up to 50 points.

Check 1: a page for each process or product family

Machining, stamping, coatings or sterile trays each get their own URL, with a material, tolerance or specification shown only if you hold to it. Give full marks for a page per family and nothing for a single page that lists everything. Our guide to SEO for manufacturers covers how to split a capabilities page.

Check 2: where a drawing or sample request goes

Full marks need a form that takes a file, a named person or route, and a phone number that is answered. A contact form that asks for a message only and not a drawing earns less. See landing page design for the form itself.

Check 3: proof that survives a supplier review

Show the certificate files you actually hold, name standards exactly, and leave off any logo you are not entitled to use. This card states no certification as a requirement for anyone. A shop with no certificates can still earn the points by showing records it does have.

Check 4: what a health supplier may not imply

The FDA’s reminders about registration and listing are plain. On its own page the agency says it does not certify devices, that its logo is for official use and not for private sector materials, and that it issues no registration certificates to device facilities. It also says a listing entry in its database does not denote approval, clearance or authorization of the facility or its devices.

1: Certification. The FDA says it does not certify devices.
2: Logo. The FDA says its logo is not for private sector materials.
3: Certificates. The FDA says it issues no registration certificates to device facilities.
4: A listing. A database entry does not denote approval, clearance or authorization, per the FDA.

Score check 4 as 10 points for wording that matches the record. A page that says FDA certified or shows an FDA logo loses all 10. A maker that makes no health claims takes full marks by default. The agency’s overview of device regulation lists establishment registration, device listing, 510(k) or PMA, IDE, the Quality Management System Regulation, labeling and Medical Device Reporting as basic requirements. Registration applies to manufacturers and initial distributors. Which of these applies to any firm is a question for regulatory counsel, not for us.

For the claim words themselves, see our medical device marketing agency page.

Checks five to seven: can search read the site?

These three are the technical and wording checks, worth 30 points together. A technical SEO agency covers the first, and our SEO audit covers the rest.

Check 5: are the money pages in the index?

Open Search Console’s page report and look for your ten best quote pages. Each one that is indexed earns a point. List them before you start so you do not pick the pages that look best.

Check 6: a title that names the work and the reader

A title such as CNC turning for medical components says more than a company slogan does, and that is only an example. Give up to 10 points when titles name the work and the reader.

Check 7: the words on the purchase order

Take the part names and specification terms from your own RFQs and sales calls and check that they appear on the matching pages. A buyer searches in the words on the purchase order, not in the words on a brochure.

Checks eight to ten: can anyone trust and measure it?

The last three checks add 20 points. They ask whether the page is true, written by someone who knows the work, and tied to an inquiry.

Check 8: why local gets only five points

Local SEO in Cleveland matters when you have a true address, a real profile and a service area you ship to. A maker that sells nationally does not need a page for every suburb. See local SEO services when the gap is here.

Check 9: who wrote this, and how they know

Google asks Who, How, and Why about content, and asks whether it clearly demonstrates first-hand expertise. For a shop that means a named engineer or quality lead and detail only someone on the floor would know. AI answers read the same page, which is one more reason to put a name on it; see AEO for manufacturers. We claim no citation as a result.

Check 10: every inquiry traced to a page

A form field or call tracking can say which page produced an inquiry. Without it you cannot tell which of the other nine checks paid off.

Worked score: a health supplier we made up, near the Health-Tech Corridor

This firm is illustrative. It is not a client or a real company, and the points are only there to show the arithmetic. It sells sterile packaging to a hospital buyer or a device firm’s quality lead.

The Cleveland Health-Tech Corridor’s about page describes a 1,600 acre area on Cleveland’s east side connecting Downtown to University Circle, with more than 170 high-tech and health-tech companies. We name no tenant and claim no purchase by any hospital.

1,600: Acres. The Corridor says it spans this many acres of Cleveland's east side.
170+: Companies. More than 170 high-tech and health-tech companies, by the Corridor's own count.
6: Business incubators. Listed on the Corridor's about page.

What your score buys: Cleveland SEO services by range

Match your score to a range, and the range to the work. This is reasoning and not a promise. Under 40 points, buy a one-off audit and the fixes first. From 40 to 69, a small business retainer aimed at the lost points. At 70 and over, depth such as more pages and AEO.

Published fee ranges for each score

Cleveland SEO is priced the way SEO is priced anywhere, and we claim no Cleveland premium or discount. SEO in Cleveland, OH usually starts with the audit when the score is low.

Marking Cleveland SEO companies with the same card

Ask each bidder to mark your site before quoting, and to show the evidence for three checks. The same card works on any SEO company in Cleveland, Ohio.

When you compare SEO companies in Cleveland, mark them on one set of evidence, not on one set of promises. If a Cleveland SEO agency cannot show where it found check 2 failing, it has not looked.

A Cleveland SEO expert should read your RFQ log with you. An SEO expert in Cleveland who asks for Search Console access first is checking the same thing as check 5. Cleveland SEO experts who quote before looking are guessing.

The same goes for SEO companies in Cleveland, Ohio that promise a rank. An SEO agency in Cleveland, Ohio can show its evidence or it cannot.

The Ohio Manufacturers’ Association lists a Connections Directory under its services. Ask whether a member listing links out to your site, and score the answer under check 5 if it does not. Frequently asked questions

What should an SEO company in Cleveland check on a manufacturer’s site first?
Whether each process has its own page and whether a drawing can be sent. Those two checks carry 15 points each on the card.
Can an SEO company in Cleveland, Ohio mark this scorecard before quoting?
It can, and it should. Ask it to mark your site and to show evidence for three checks.
How should I compare SEO companies in Cleveland that all promise the same thing?
Ask each to mark your site on the card and show its evidence. We name no firms.
What do Cleveland SEO services cost for a small shop?
Published US bands for a small business retainer run from $1,000 to $5,000 a month. We claim no Cleveland premium.
What score counts as good enough?
There is no passing mark. Under 40 means audit first, 40 to 69 means a retainer aimed at the lost points, and 70 and over means depth. That is our judgment, not a Google measure.
Are the two firms on this page real?
No. Both were made up to show the arithmetic. Neither is a client.
Can a medical supplier call itself FDA certified on its website?
The FDA says it does not certify devices. Ask regulatory counsel before using any FDA wording.
Does local SEO in Cleveland matter if we ship nationwide?
A little. The card gives it five points for a true address and a service area you really ship to.
Who should write a technical page for a machine shop?
Someone who has done the work. Google’s Who, How, and Why questions ask who created the content and how.
Where do AI answers fit on the card?
Under check 9. We promise no citation. See AEO for manufacturers for the wider picture.
What does an SEO expert in Cleveland need from us to start?
Your RFQ log, your ten best quote pages and read access to Search Console.
Can your team walk our plant before writing the scope?
On-site sessions are available on request. Progression is based in New York and serves Cleveland clients remotely. We claim no Cleveland office.
How long does marking the card take?
Plan on one sitting with the site, Search Console and your RFQ log open.
Does a low score mean the site is bad?
No. It means points are available. A shop with a low score and good products simply has more to fix.
Can a shop mark its own card honestly?
Yes, if it lists the pages first and scores them from the table, not from memory.
Does every machine process need its own page?
Only the ones you can do well and want to quote. Check 1 asks for a page per process or product family you hold to.
What do I do with a score of 70 or more?
Look at the checks that lost points, then consider depth such as more pages and AEO.
Does the card work for a distributor rather than a maker?
The ten checks apply, but the proof and claims checks should be marked against the distributor’s own records.
What does ask regulatory counsel cover on this page?
Any decision about which FDA requirement applies to a firm or which claim words it may use.
What do the Northeast Ohio figures on this page come from?
MAGNET’s Blueprint, Team NEO and the Health-Tech Corridor’s about page. Each is attributed where it appears.
