AI SEO Agency Austin: Get Named in AI Answers Across a Fast-Growing, Bilingual Metro

Updated October 2026 · Written and maintained by the Progression Agency strategy team

Austin’s newest customers often have no favorite providers yet, so they ask Google, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude or Copilot to suggest some. An AI SEO agency Austin businesses hire should make sure those assistants can find them, describe them accurately in English and Spanish, and name them for the towns they actually serve, from downtown to Georgetown and Kyle. Progression Agency, based in New York City, works with clients across the United States and around the world.

The short answerIn Austin, AI search work has three jobs that matter more here than in most cities. Coverage has to follow growth into the suburbs, where towns such as Georgetown, Leander and Kyle have grown by more than half since 2020. Pages, profiles and replies have to work in Spanish, which about one in five Austin residents speaks at home. And technical buyers comparing vendors need different pages from households looking for a service nearby. Under all three sit the same basics: crawlers that can read your site, one consistent set of facts everywhere, reviews and coverage that confirm them, and a monthly record of what each assistant says. Plan on a month of fixes, two months of pages and listings and about six months before judging recorded answers. Published US price bands for this work put an audit at $1,000 to $4,000 once and a small-business program at $1,500 to $5,000 monthly; those are market figures, not a Progression rate card.

City and county populations are the Census Bureau’s Vintage 2025 estimates; home languages come from the 2024 American Community Survey; jobs and business locations come from Bureau of Labor Statistics releases for August 2026 (preliminary) and 2024. We describe platform rules as they stood on October 13, 2026; they change. Prices are published US market bands, not a Progression rate card, unless a figure is named as ours.

AI SEO in Austin, explained in one minute

AI SEO is the work of making a business easy for AI assistants to find, read, trust and recommend. In Austin it means the same technical and content basics as anywhere, applied to a market that is growing fast, spreading outward and speaking two languages.

When someone asks ChatGPT which pediatric dentists in Round Rock take new patients, or asks Google’s AI Mode for a bilingual immigration attorney in South Austin, the assistant assembles an answer from pages it can reach, listings it trusts and what other people have written. An AI SEO agency in Austin works on each of those inputs, then checks the output by running the same requests every month and saving what comes back. The labels vary (AEO, GEO, LLM visibility) but the work is the same; our side-by-side page on AEO, GEO and LLM SEO explains the names.

Austin passed a million residents. Where are its customers now?

Mostly outside the city, and increasingly so. The Census Bureau’s July 2025 estimate puts the city at 1,002,632 people, the first figure above one million in the current series, and the metro at 2,620,945.

The metro grew 14.8% between the 2020 base and July 2025, the fastest growth of any US metro area with more than a million residents in the same Census release. The city itself grew 4.6%. Almost all of the difference is in the towns around it:

Population growth from 2020 to July 2025 in Austin-area cities: Manor 68.7%, Hutto 66.9%, Georgetown 58.5%, Leander 53.8%, Kyle 53.0%, Round Rock 18.2%, San Marcos 14.9%, City of Austin 4.6%.Population growth from 2020 to July 2025 in Austin-area cities: Manor 68.7%, Hutto 66.9%, Georgetown 58.5%, Leander 53.8%, Kyle 53.0%, Round Rock 18.2%, San Marcos 14.9%, City of Austin 4.6%.
Percentages are computed from the Census Bureau’s published estimates; small towns can post large percentages on modest numbers.

New households start with an empty list

A family that moved to Leander last year does not yet have a plumber, a dentist or an accountant. Its first searches, and its first questions to an assistant, decide who gets the work. A business that is easy to name for ‘Leander’ or ‘Georgetown’ requests is meeting those customers at the only moment the choice is open.

The suburbs are not one place

Georgetown and Hutto in Williamson County, Kyle in Hays County and Manor in Travis County each have their own roads, school districts and permit offices. Requests name them separately, and the businesses named in the answers are the ones whose pages and profiles do too.

Austin at a glance, in the numbers that shape an AI search plan:

1,002,632: City of Austin residents. Census estimate, July 2025.
2.62M: Metro Austin residents. Census estimate, July 2025.
14.8%: Metro growth since 2020. Fastest US metro over one million.
58.5%: Georgetown growth since 2020. Now 106,907 residents.
33.2%: Austinites using another language at home. Ages 5 and older, ACS 2024.
21.5%: Speak Spanish at home. City of Austin, ACS 2024.
1.42M: Nonfarm jobs in the metro. BLS, August 2026, preliminary.
5,138: Computer systems design locations. BLS QCEW, 2024 average.

A third of Austin speaks another language at home

In the city of Austin, 33.2% of people five and older use a language other than English at home, and 21.5% speak Spanish, according to 2024 American Community Survey estimates. Both figures are well above the national averages.

Share of residents 5 and older who speak a language other than English at home, 2024: City of Austin 33.2%, Travis County 32.5%, metro Austin 30.0%, Williamson County 26.9%, United States 23.0%.Share of residents 5 and older who speak a language other than English at home, 2024: City of Austin 33.2%, Travis County 32.5%, metro Austin 30.0%, Williamson County 26.9%, United States 23.0%.
Survey estimates carry margins of error; small differences between areas are not meaningful.

Spanish is a mainstream language of search here

With roughly one Austin resident in five speaking Spanish at home, a Spanish-language request for a dentist, a lawyer or a roofer is not a niche case. An assistant can only answer it with your business if something about your business exists in Spanish, or clearly says you serve Spanish-speaking customers.

Not every Spanish speaker needs a Spanish page

About 11.5% of Austin residents five and older report speaking English less than very well. Many bilingual customers search in English and still value knowing a provider can explain things in Spanish. Stating that clearly, on the page and in the profile, is the first step even before translation.

Other languages, especially in Williamson County

Asian and Pacific Island languages are spoken at home by 7.0% of Williamson County residents aged five and older (Chinese alone by 1.5%) and other Indo-European languages by 4.2%, according to the same survey. A clinic or tutoring business serving those families should name the languages its staff speak.

How to publish in Spanish so assistants can use it

Give each Spanish page its own URL, write it with a fluent speaker, link it to its English twin with hreflang, and make sure a Spanish-speaking customer who calls or writes gets a reply in Spanish. The page is only as credible as the response behind it.

Google’s guide to localized versions requires every language version to name itself and each alternate, and notes that Google identifies a language from the words on the page; hreflang only links the versions. Our hreflang guide and checker covers the markup, and multilingual website design covers building the second language into a site properly.

The essentials of a bilingual Austin setup, in eight cards:

hreflang: Language versions linked. Each lists itself and the other.
URLs: One URL per language. Not a toggle that swaps text.
People: Say who answers in Spanish. On the page and the profile.
Forms: Spanish forms, Spanish replies. Same speed as English.
Reviews: Reply in the reviewer's language. Where you can do it well.
Words: Use the terms customers use. Checked by fluent speakers.
Prices: Same prices in both languages. No mismatch to explain.
Prompts: Spanish prompts in the set. Measure both languages.

What Austin’s job base says about who buys AI search work

Professional and business services is the largest sector, government (including the university) is the third largest, and construction is adding jobs. Each points to a different kind of buyer.

Metro Austin jobs by sector in August 2026, in thousands: professional and business services 291.5, trade transportation and utilities 213.4, government 201.0, education and health 170.4, leisure and hospitality 156.0, construction and mining 98.5, financial 93.4, manufacturing 87.8, other services 55.7, information 48.2.Metro Austin jobs by sector in August 2026, in thousands: professional and business services 291.5, trade transportation and utilities 213.4, government 201.0, education and health 170.4, leisure and hospitality 156.0, construction and mining 98.5, financial 93.4, manufacturing 87.8, other services 55.7, information 48.2.
Total nonfarm employment was 1,415,900 in the preliminary August 2026 estimate.

Professional services lead, and they sell on expertise

Consulting, legal, accounting, engineering and IT firms make up the largest sector, and it added about 5,600 jobs between August 2025 and August 2026 in the preliminary estimates. These firms are chosen from short lists, and assistants build those lists from practice pages, people pages and independent mentions.

Government is a large employer, and a large customer

Government is the third-largest sector. It includes public universities such as the University of Texas at Austin, which describes itself as home to some 55,000 students, 4,600 faculty and 15,000 staff. Vendors to public bodies need pages that answer procurement questions plainly.

Construction is growing with the suburbs

Mining, logging and construction added about 4,000 jobs over the same year, which fits the growth in Williamson and Hays counties. Builders, remodelers and trades serving new subdivisions compete for requests that name the town and the type of home.

The information sector is smaller than its reputation

Information, the sector that includes software publishers and data services, held 48,200 jobs in August 2026 and lost about 2,800 over the year. Much of Austin’s technology employment sits in professional services instead, under computer systems design.

Two markets share one city: technical buyers and households

Austin has a large technology services sector alongside a fast-growing population of households. The two ask assistants different questions, and a business that serves both needs pages for both.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics counted 5,138 private computer systems design locations in metro Austin in 2024, about one in fifteen of the metro’s 75,870 private business locations, employing 56,317 people. Another 744 locations were software publishers, and 80 made semiconductors and related devices. Buyers of technical services often compare vendors on specific requirements.

Technical buyers compare

A procurement lead at a semiconductor supplier asks for vendors with a specific certification, integration or capacity, then asks the assistant to compare them. Pages that state those facts, and fair comparison pages, give the assistant material to work with. See AEO for SaaS and AEO for B2B companies.

Households ask for a place and a promise

A homeowner in Kyle asks for a fence company that serves Kyle and has good reviews, or for a pediatrician near a school who speaks Spanish. Location, hours, language and reviews decide those answers.

When a business serves both

Accountants, lawyers, IT support firms and real estate brokers often sell to companies and to families. Keep the two journeys on separate pages so each request finds the page written for it.

How do Austin buyers phrase requests to AI assistants?

As questions with a town, a need and at least one condition. Below are illustrations of the shape these requests take, not phrases to repeat on a page.

  • Which pediatric dentists in Round Rock are taking new patients and accept Medicaid?
  • Find me a licensed electrician who serves Leander and can install an EV charger this month.
  • ¿Qué abogados de inmigración en Austin hablan español y ofrecen consulta gratis?
  • Compare managed IT providers in Austin for a 40-person company that uses Microsoft 365.
  • Which roofers in Georgetown have the best reviews for hail damage claims?
  • Recommend an accountant in South Austin who works with restaurant owners.
  • What does a home inspection cost in Kyle, and who is well reviewed?
  • Which Austin software agencies have built HIPAA-compliant patient portals?
  • Is there a bilingual family therapist near Pflugerville who takes my insurance?
  • Which commercial cleaning companies serve offices in the Domain area?

Every condition is a fact you must publish

Medicaid, an EV charger, a free consultation in Spanish, hail claims, HIPAA: an assistant can only match a business to a condition it can find written down. The list of conditions your customers attach to requests is the outline of the pages you need.

Follow-up questions test the first answer

Buyers then ask what reviews say, what the service costs and whether the provider is licensed. Reviews, published prices and license numbers keep a business in the answer when the follow-up arrives.

Which assistants matter in Austin, and what does each read?

Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude and Microsoft Copilot. Each publishes how its crawler works, and each can be checked against your robots.txt and server logs.

How each assistant finds pages, and the setting you control

ClaudeClaude-SearchBot indexes for search; Claude-User fetches on requestrobots.txt rules for both agents

The details are in each company’s own documentation: OpenAI’s list of its crawlers, Perplexity’s crawler page and Anthropic’s note on how Claude crawls the web. According to OpenAI, a site that opts out of OAI-SearchBot is left out of ChatGPT’s search answers, apart from navigational links. Perplexity states that PerplexityBot does not crawl content for AI foundation models, and Anthropic warns that switching off Claude-SearchBot can lower how visible a site is in user searches.

What Google says about AI Overviews and AI Mode

That the normal rules of SEO still apply. Google’s AI features and your website guidance states that a page has to be indexed and able to show a snippet, and that nothing more is required: no special schema and no AI text files.

One answer, several searches

Google says AI Overviews and AI Mode may use a ‘query fan-out’, issuing several related searches across subtopics to build a response. A business with a clear page for each service, area and common question gives the fan-out more places to find it than one long page that tries to cover everything.

Keep the Business Profile current

The same guidance tells site owners to check that their Business Profile information is up to date and that structured data matches the visible text on the page. Both are ordinary housekeeping that is easy to let slide after a move or a new location opens.

The traffic appears inside Search Console

Google says clicks and impressions from AI features are counted inside Search Console’s Performance report, as part of the Web search type. They are not split out, so the monthly prompt record is still needed to see what the answers say.

Bing, Copilot and the AI Performance report

Bing tells site owners directly how often their pages are cited in its AI answers. Its AI Performance report entered public preview on February 10, 2026 and covers Microsoft Copilot and AI-generated summaries in Bing.

The announcement lists four measures: total citations, average cited pages per day, grounding queries (a sample of the phrases the AI used when it retrieved your content) and citation counts by page. For an Austin business it sits inside Bing Webmaster Tools, where the site is verified with a file, meta tag or DNS record. A site never verified there is invisible to its owner on that platform, whatever Copilot is saying about it.

Can AI crawlers read your Austin website?

Check before anything else. Blocked crawlers, pages that render blank without JavaScript and security tools that turn bots away are common, and each one hides a business from some assistants entirely.

  1. Open your robots.txt and check which rules apply to OAI-SearchBot, PerplexityBot, Claude-SearchBot, Claude-User and Googlebot; our AI crawler access checker reads it for you.
  2. Decide separately about training crawlers such as GPTBot; blocking them does not remove you from ChatGPT search.
  3. Fetch your most important pages with JavaScript switched off, or use the extractable content checker, and confirm prices, services and FAQs are still there.
  4. Ask whoever runs your firewall or CDN whether verified search crawlers receive a normal page rather than a challenge.
  5. Confirm the pages are indexed in Google and Bing, and verify the site in both Search Console and Bing Webmaster Tools.
  6. Check that any structured data repeats what the page says, with our schema versus copy validator.

What to publish so Austin requests return your business

Plain statements of fact that answer the conditions buyers attach to their requests: what you do, where, for whom, at what price, in which languages and with which credentials. Each fact should be on your site, your profile and your main listings, worded the same way.

A page for each service and each town you truly serve

A remodeler working in Round Rock, Georgetown and Hutto needs pages that say what is different about working in each (permits, typical homes, travel times), not the same paragraph three times. Google’s spam policies count pages aimed at particular cities or regions that funnel visitors to one page among their doorway-abuse examples.

Prices, or honest ranges

When a buyer asks what something costs, the assistant quotes numbers it can find. Leave yours off the site and it may quote a competitor’s, or a generic range.

Credentials a stranger can check

License numbers, insurance, certifications and memberships, each with the issuing body named. For businesses registered in Texas, the Secretary of State’s SOSPortal, which is replacing SOSDirect, is where entity records are filed and searched; make sure your legal name matches it.

Answers written for the follow-up

A short FAQ on each service page that answers the next question a buyer asks: cost, timing, areas, languages, guarantees, what happens first. Our guide to AEO content writing covers the format.

Google Business Profile in a metro that keeps spreading

Use your real name, choose accurate categories, set service areas that match where you work, and keep hours true. Google’s guidelines forbid adding unnecessary information to the business name and say it can lead to suspension.

Google allows a service-area business up to 20 service areas, and says the overall area should not reach beyond about two hours’ driving time from the business’s base. In metro Austin that is enough to name the towns you serve (Cedar Park, Leander, Georgetown, Pflugerville, Kyle, Buda) rather than writing ‘Central Texas’. A rented mailing address where the business does not operate, the arrangement Google calls a virtual office, is not eligible for a profile, so a new suburb is covered by a service area or by a real, staffed location. Our free Business Profile audit gives the profile a score and checks whether your name, address and phone match across the listings you paste in.

How the local pack treats fast-growing Austin suburbs

Google’s local results weigh relevance, distance and prominence (how well known a business is), and Google says in its local ranking help page that nobody can pay for a better position. In new suburbs, distance favors businesses based nearby.

Relevance comes from a complete profile and a website that explains every service clearly. Distance is the gap between the business and the person searching, which is why a business based in central Austin starts at a disadvantage in map results for a search made in Leander. Prominence, as Google puts it, reflects links to the business from other sites and the number of reviews it has. For customers beyond your map radius, organic pages and AI answers are how you reach them; Texas SEO and SEO across Texas metros cover the wider search picture.

Reviews in Austin: steady, honest and in both languages

Ask every customer, reply to every review, and never trade anything for one. Google bans incentives for reviews outright, and the FTC’s rule bans rewards tied to a review’s sentiment.

Ask the same way every time

Google suggests asking customers with a review link or QR code. Put it in the invoice email or the end-of-job text so it happens without anyone remembering to do it.

Reply in Spanish when the review is in Spanish

A reply in the reviewer’s language shows the next Spanish-speaking reader that they will be understood. If nobody on staff writes Spanish well, a short, correct reply checked by a fluent speaker is better than a long one that is not.

What the rules forbid

Under Google’s Maps content policy, a business may not offer payment, discounts, free goods or services to get a review posted, changed or removed. The FTC’s consumer review rule prohibits rewards conditioned on whether a review is positive or negative, and prohibits silencing critical reviews through baseless legal threats or intimidation. A free month for a five-star review breaks both.

Which Austin media are worth earning coverage in?

The outlets your buyers read and that cover businesses like yours. Independent coverage is corroboration an assistant can cite when it explains why it named someone.

Pitch facts, not adjectives

Reporters respond to something new and local: an opening in a growing town, a hire, a program, numbers from your own records about Austin customers. Paid placements labeled as ‘best of’ lists tell readers little. Our PR firms in Austin and public relations in Austin pages cover the local PR market.

Hyperlocal beats citywide for suburban businesses

For a dental practice opening in Hutto, a hyperlocal outlet such as Community Impact is the natural first pitch, and for an assistant answering a Hutto request that local mention is the more relevant one.

Austin chambers, communities and registries worth being listed in

Those whose member lists your customers or partners actually consult, in the towns where you work. An accurate listing is a fact an assistant can confirm independently.

SXSW and the Austin calendar

SXSW 2027 runs from March 15 to 21 in Austin, and for technology, media and hospitality businesses it concentrates coverage, visitors and new pages into one week. Plan the AI search side of it in advance, not during it.

Publish before the week, not on the day

Pages about an event, a launch or a session need to be live and crawlable before visitors start asking assistants where to go and whom to meet. Anything published the morning it matters may not be found in time.

Make event coverage point to lasting pages

Coverage earned around SXSW is most useful when it links to a page that will still be accurate in June: the product, the service, the people, not a one-week landing page that is taken down.

Selling to Austin’s technology companies

Publish what a technical evaluation asks for and make it easy to compare you fairly. Assistants answering vendor questions draw on documentation, comparison pages, partner directories and coverage in technology press.

  • State the standards and certifications you meet, with the certifying body named.
  • List integrations and platforms supported, with links to your own documentation.
  • Publish implementation timelines and what the customer has to provide.
  • Write comparison pages that explain when a competitor or alternative is the better choice.
  • Name the industries and company sizes you serve, and the ones you do not.
  • Keep partner directory listings current on every platform you are certified with.
  • Put people pages up for the engineers and leads buyers will work with.

Semiconductor, hardware and manufacturing suppliers face the same questions with more specifications; our AEO for manufacturers and AEO for industrial companies pages cover them, and AEO for startups covers companies without much history yet.

Is AI SEO the right first spend for your Austin business?

Sometimes, and sometimes not yet. The editorial checklist below separates the signs that it will pay from the problems to fix first; most of the fixes are cheaper than the program.

AI SEO agency Austin readiness checklist (editorial): four signs AI SEO can pay now for an Austin business and four problems to fix first.AI SEO agency Austin readiness checklist (editorial): four signs AI SEO can pay now for an Austin business and four problems to fix first.
Editorial judgment, not measured data. Paid search is the faster channel when leads are needed this month.

When to start now

Law, accounting and consulting firms, clinics and practices, trades with large tickets, suppliers to other businesses, and anyone with Spanish-speaking customers in the growing suburbs. These are the cases where a single named recommendation can pay for months of work.

When to wait

If the website is being rebuilt, the profile is suspended, or calls and forms cannot be tracked, fix those first. Our guide to AEO for small business sets out what can be done for free in the meantime.

What an AI SEO agency Austin companies hire does, in order

Baseline, access, facts, pages, corroboration, measurement. Each depends on the one before it, so the order is the same for a Georgetown roofer and an East Austin software firm, even though the pages differ.

  1. Run a frozen set of prompts in each assistant and save the full answers with the date, in English and, where relevant, Spanish.
  2. Prove crawler access and rendering for the pages that matter.
  3. Agree one fact sheet, then make the website, the Business Profile and every major listing match it.
  4. Rewrite or write the key service, town and language pages in answer-first form.
  5. Earn corroboration: routine reviews, the right chamber and community listings, coverage worth reading.
  6. Re-run the same prompts every month and compare answers, citations, traffic and inquiries.

What month one should hand over, in eight deliverables:

Access: Crawler and rendering report. Every search crawler checked.
Facts: One agreed fact sheet. Services, areas, prices, hours.
Profile: Business Profile corrections. Name, categories, service areas.
Prompts: A frozen prompt set. Answers saved with dates.
Plan: Page plan by service and town. What to write first, and why.
Listings: Listing mismatch list. Where your details disagree.
Spanish: Spanish page plan. Where customers justify it.
Baseline: Search Console and Bing baseline. Before anything changes.

How many months before Austin results show?

Fixes show in weeks; recorded answers deserve about six months before anyone judges them. The table below assumes a single-location business with a working site: a planning guide, not a dated promise.

A first six months of AI SEO in Austin
WhenWorkWhat you should be able to see
Weeks 1 to 2Baseline prompts, crawler and rendering checksA dated record of every answer; a list of blocked or blank pages

Month 2Key service and town pages rewrittenPages that answer the main conditions in plain text
Month 3Spanish pages, chamber and community listingsLanguage versions linked with hreflang; listings live
Months 4 to 5Reviews by routine, coverage pitchesA steadier flow of reviews; first independent mentions
Month 6Full comparison with the baselineChanges in who is named, how you are described, citations in Bing

Model updates do not follow anyone’s schedule, which is why the comparison is always against your own saved baseline. Our page on how long AEO takes goes through the slow parts in detail.

What does AI SEO cost for an Austin business?

Published US price bands for this work put an AEO audit at $1,000 to $4,000 and a small-business program at $1,500 to $5,000 per month, with mid-market and enterprise programs above that. They are market figures, not a Progression rate card; a quote follows a written scope, and Spanish-language pages and extra towns add to it.

Published US price bands for AEO work (market figures, not a Progression rate card)
EngagementPublished bandTypical scope
One-off AEO audit$1,000 to $4,000Eight checks, roughly a working week
One-off AEO strategy$1,500 to $6,000A plan your own people execute
AEO program, small business$1,500 to $5,000 monthlyAudit, markup, five to fifteen pages, light monitoring
AEO program, mid-market$5,000 to $10,000 monthlyCross-platform tracking, page restructuring, strategy sessions
AEO program, enterprise$10,000 to $20,000+ monthlyWhole-site program, bespoke reporting, a dedicated team
Prompt-tracking software$20 to $295 monthlyList prices from tracking vendors, billed by them

Quotes come after the crawler-access and rendering tests, since their results set the price; our AEO pricing guide explains why and lists what pushes a quote up or down. The AEO audit page sets out the eight checks. What Progression itself charges is published too: a small SEO retainer runs $1,500 to $2,500 a month, a mid-sized one $2,500 to $5,000 and a large one $5,000 to $10,000, we do not take work below about $1,500 a month, and AEO retainers carry a six-month minimum term.

How results are measured for an Austin business

With recorded answers first, platform data second and inquiries always. No assistant publishes a ranked list, so position tracking cannot show what matters here.

A prompt set built for Austin

Twenty to forty prompts for one location is a workable start: the service plus the towns you serve, the conditions that decide a sale, comparisons buyers make, follow-ups about reviews and price, the key requests in Spanish, and direct questions about your business. Leave the wording untouched for six months or more; the free AI visibility prompt builder is a quick way to draft it, and AI visibility tools compared covers the trackers.

Score it the same way every time

Named or not, place in the list, accuracy of the description, whether your own site is linked. Write the scoring rules down so a change in the score means a change in the answers, not in the person reading them.

Choosing an AI SEO agency in Austin: what to verify

Ask each candidate to show you what it found on your site before the first call, how it records answers and what it will not do. A credible AI SEO company in Austin can answer all three in plain language.

Questions that separate real AEO work from relabeled SEO

Many proposals sold as AI SEO are ordinary content retainers with a new name. These questions show which kind you are reading.

  • Which crawlers did you check on our site, and what did you find?
  • How many prompts will you track, in which assistants and in which languages?
  • Will you save full answers each month, or only a score?
  • What will you change on our Business Profile and listings in month one?
  • Which pages will you write first, and why those?
  • How will we know whether inquiries changed, not just visibility?
  • What will you not do for us, even if we ask?

Warning signs in Austin AI SEO pitches

Guarantees, volume promises and anything that sounds secret. Each one runs against a published rule or a basic fact about how assistants work.

A promise that ChatGPT or Google will recommend you

No one controls what a model says. A guaranteed placement either misunderstands the channel or misrepresents it.

Dozens of town pages delivered in a week

Pages for Round Rock, Cedar Park and Pflugerville that differ only by name match what Google’s spam policies list among doorway-abuse examples: pages targeted at specific cities that funnel users to one page. Five genuinely local pages are worth more than fifty templated ones.

Reviews as a line item

A package that guarantees a number of reviews promises what no business controls, and such packages usually rely on fake or incentivized reviews. Google deletes reviews like that, and they can put a business in breach of the FTC’s consumer review rule.

Does an Austin business need an Austin-based agency?

No, but it needs one that knows the metro: its towns, its languages, its outlets and its chambers. That knowledge can be researched from primary sources, as this page is; what local presence adds is mainly in-person events and existing press relationships.

Crawler checks, writing, markup, profile upkeep and reporting are all done through access to your accounts. We do not claim an Austin office. We work from New York City and say so, and the scope, the reporting and the prompt record are the same wherever the client is.

What we will not promise an Austin client

A guaranteed place in AI answers, rankings by a date, reviews of any kind that we write or buy, keywords in your profile name, templated town pages, an Austin office we do not have, client results we cannot show, or a forecast of AI traffic. Each would help us sell, and none would be honest.

What we will do instead is say plainly when the work is not worth buying yet, show the recorded answers every month, and report against inquiries and revenue rather than against positions, as our SEO services page sets out for all our search work.

Moving a business into the Austin area

Start the AI search groundwork before the doors open. A new location with a verified profile, a real location page and a first set of reviews gives assistants something to say from week one.

  • Verify the Business Profile as soon as the address is staffed and signed, not before.
  • Publish the location page with the address, hours, services and the towns it serves.
  • Join the chamber for that town, such as the Round Rock Chamber, if your customers use it.
  • Brief a hyperlocal outlet on the opening with something specific to say.
  • Add the new town’s requests to your prompt set before launch, to capture a baseline.
  • Ask your first customers for reviews from day one, the same way every time.

Our marketing agency in Austin page covers how to choose an agency in Austin’s crowded agency market.

AI SEO for Austin home services and trades

Trades are named on licenses, service areas, response times and reviews. In a metro adding households this quickly, the towns you list and the speed you promise are the facts that decide most answers.

Spell out the towns you serve, the jobs you take and the ones you do not, emergency availability and typical lead times. Photos of real jobs in recognizable settings help both buyers and assistants. Our AEO for home services page goes further, with trade-specific pages for HVAC, plumbers and roofers.

AI SEO for Austin health care practices

Which insurers a practice takes, the languages its staff speak, how soon it can see new patients and who holds which credentials: these are the facts patients attach to their requests. Each belongs on the practice page and the profile, inside the advertising rules that apply to health care.

A pediatric or dental practice in a fast-growing suburb competes for families who have just arrived; a specialist competes on referrals and credentials. In both cases, publishing who sees which patients, in which language and on which days does more than general claims of quality. See AEO for dentists, AEO for doctors and AEO for healthcare.

AI SEO for Austin law, accounting and financial firms

These firms are chosen from short lists built on practice pages, people pages, licensing records and independent mentions. Bilingual service is a deciding fact for many Austin clients and should be stated wherever it is true.

Write a page for each practice area with the matters you handle and those you refer out, a bio for each professional with the licenses they hold, and plain statements about fees where your rules allow. See AEO for law firms, AEO for immigration lawyers, AEO for accountants and AEO for financial advisors.

AEO agency, GEO firm or AI SEO company: what Austin buyers need

The same work under different names. An AEO agency in Austin, a firm offering generative engine optimization in Austin and an AI SEO company should all be judged by the requirements table above, not by the label.

AEO (answer engine optimization) is usually described in terms of direct answers, GEO (generative engine optimization) in terms of generative assistants, and AI SEO is the plain description. Our generative engine optimization agency and answer engine optimization agency pages describe the service under each name.

How AI SEO works alongside paid search and PR in Austin

Paid search covers the requests you cannot win organically yet and needs no waiting period; PR and reviews build the corroboration that AI answers depend on. The same fact sheet should feed all three.

If you already run local SEO, most AI work extends it. Ads can test which messages and offers convert while organic pages are rebuilt; how to divide the work is set out in AEO and paid search together, and search engine marketing covers the paid side. Coverage and a steady review routine are part of AI visibility rather than separate projects.

Working with Progression

Every engagement has a written scope and monthly reporting against inquiries and revenue; our SEO services page publishes the scope and reporting, and our AEO pricing page publishes the six-month minimum term on AEO retainers. We do not guarantee rankings or placement in AI answers, and you keep ownership of every account, asset and record.

To begin, we would need

Logins for analytics, Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools, the website and the Business Profile (access, not ownership), any fact sheet you already keep (or notes we can turn into one), and then the requests you most want to win, in English and in Spanish if you serve Spanish-speaking customers.

What stays yours

The accounts, the analytics history, the domain, the content and the prompt record. Our access ends when the work does; nothing of yours leaves with us.

Your first week, without an agency

Seven steps any Austin business can take for free. They make every later step cheaper, and they may show you need less than you thought.

  1. Run five customer requests in ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Perplexity, in English and in Spanish if you serve Spanish speakers; save the full answers with today’s date.
  2. Read your robots.txt for the search crawlers named on this page.
  3. Put your facts on one page: legal and trading name, address, phone, services, towns served, price ranges, hours, languages spoken and license numbers.
  4. Bring the Google Business Profile into line with that page, using as many of its 20 service areas as you genuinely serve.
  5. Fix the three worst mismatches on your chamber, directory and map listings.
  6. Under each service heading, answer the question customers ask most, in a sentence of plain text.
  7. Turn on Bing Webmaster Tools for the site and open its AI Performance report.

Frequently asked questions

What does an AI SEO agency Austin businesses hire do in the first month?
It records a baseline by running a fixed set of customer requests in ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Perplexity, Claude and Copilot, checks that crawlers can read your pages, agrees one fact sheet and applies it to your site, Business Profile and listings, and plans the service, town and Spanish pages to write next.
How much should an Austin business budget for AI SEO?
Published US price bands, which are market figures rather than a Progression rate card, put a one-off AEO audit at $1,000 to $4,000, small-business programs at $1,500 to $5,000 per month and mid-market programs at $5,000 to $10,000. Spanish-language pages, more towns and sites that render poorly without JavaScript add scope. Our own retainers start at about $1,500 a month, and a quote follows a written scope.
Is a Spanish version of our site worth it for AI visibility in Austin?
If they serve Spanish-speaking customers, it helps a great deal. In the city of Austin, 21.5% of residents aged five and older speak Spanish at home, according to 2024 Census Bureau estimates. A fluent Spanish page on its own URL, plus a phone line or form answered in Spanish, gives assistants something to cite for Spanish requests.
Does hreflang help Spanish pages get used by AI assistants in Austin?
Hreflang tells Google that an English and a Spanish page are versions of each other, and Google requires each version to list itself and every other version. Google detects language from the content, not from hreflang. It is housekeeping that keeps the right version in front of the right searcher, not a ranking trick.
How do Austin technology companies get named when buyers ask AI to compare vendors?
By publishing the facts a technical evaluation needs: certifications with the certifying body named, integrations, implementation timelines, company sizes served and fair comparison pages. Current partner directory listings and coverage in technology and business press give assistants independent confirmation.
Should a business in Georgetown, Round Rock or Kyle target Austin or its own town?
Its own town first, because requests name the place the customer lives and Google weighs distance in local results. Add Austin if you genuinely serve it. Each town page should say something specific about working there, such as permits, travel times or the office that covers it.
Can an AI SEO company in Austin promise that ChatGPT will recommend us?
No. Nobody controls what a model says. An honest agency improves the inputs (crawler access, consistent facts, clear pages, reviews and coverage) and then shows you, month by month, what ChatGPT and the other assistants actually say, saved word for word.
How long does AI search optimization take for an Austin business?
Crawler and fact fixes take weeks. Pages and listings take a further two months or so. Judge recorded answers after about six months, comparing them with the baseline saved at the start. Reviews and coverage are the slow parts and cannot be rushed without breaking platform rules.
What do Google AI Overviews need from an Austin business website?
Nothing beyond normal good SEO, according to Google: a page has to be indexed and able to show a snippet, and there is no special schema or AI text file to add. Google also asks owners to keep Business Profile details current and structured data matching the visible page.
Is generative engine optimization in Austin different from AEO?
Not in substance. Generative engine optimization describes making a business findable and quotable in generative assistants; answer engine optimization describes the same goal in terms of direct answers. Judge any Austin provider on its access checks, measurement method and price, not on the label.
Which Austin publications and listings help a business appear in AI answers?
Outlets your buyers read, such as the Austin American-Statesman, KUT, Austin Current and Community Impact, and listings that match your real market, such as the Austin Chamber, the Greater Austin Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, the Round Rock Chamber or Built In Austin. Accuracy matters more than the number of listings.
Does SXSW coverage help an Austin company appear in AI answers?
It can, if the coverage links to a lasting page that stays accurate after the festival, such as the product, service or people page. Publish those pages before the week so crawlers find them in time. SXSW 2027 runs from March 15 to 21 in Austin.
How can I check whether ChatGPT can read my Austin business website?
Read your robots.txt for rules naming OAI-SearchBot, the crawler OpenAI uses for ChatGPT search, then fetch your key pages with JavaScript switched off to see whether the text survives. Our free AI crawler access checker and extractable content checker do both in a few minutes.
What is the AI Performance report in Bing Webmaster Tools?
A report, launched in public preview in February 2026, that shows how often a site’s pages are cited in Microsoft Copilot and in AI-generated summaries in Bing: total citations, average cited pages per day, sample grounding queries and citations by page.
Should an Austin startup invest in AI SEO before it has customers?
Usually only the free basics: readable pages, a clear description of what the product does and for whom, a Built In or similar company profile, and a saved baseline of what assistants say. A paid program makes more sense once there are customers to review you and news worth covering.
What is the right way to answer a Spanish-language Google review in Austin?
In Spanish, where someone can write it correctly, keeping the reply short, polite and free of the customer’s private details. A reply in the reviewer’s language shows future Spanish-speaking customers they will be understood. If nobody on staff writes Spanish well, have a fluent speaker check each reply.
Which numbers belong in an Austin company’s monthly AI search report?
The saved answers to the frozen prompt set in English and Spanish, compared with the baseline; corrections needed where assistants describe you wrongly; Copilot and Bing citations; Search Console clicks; calls, forms and bookings; and what was done, what did not work and what comes next.
Is AEO worth it for Austin home service companies?
Often, because homeowners compare several providers and one job can be worth far more than a month of the work. The deciding facts are the towns served, licenses, emergency availability, prices or ranges and reviews. In fast-growing towns such as Leander or Kyle, new households are choosing providers for the first time.
Do AI assistants use Google Business Profile details for Austin searches?
Google’s own AI features guidance asks site owners to keep Business Profile information up to date, so for AI Overviews and AI Mode the profile matters directly. For other assistants, the safest course is to keep the profile, the website and every listing identical, so whichever source they read says the same thing.
How big should the list of test requests be for an Austin location?
Twenty to forty for one location is a workable start, spread across the towns you serve, the conditions that decide a sale, comparisons, follow-up questions and the key requests in Spanish. Run them in each assistant you care about, keep the wording frozen for six months and save full answers.
Can an Austin business do AI SEO itself before hiring an agency?
Much of the first week, yes: run and save prompts, check robots.txt, write a fact sheet, correct the Business Profile and listings, add plain answers to service pages and verify the site in Bing Webmaster Tools. An agency adds scale, Spanish writing, coverage work and disciplined monthly measurement.
What makes an AEO agency in Austin worth hiring?
Evidence it has looked at your site before pitching, a method for recording answers verbatim, real Spanish-language capability if you need it, a plan for the towns you serve, adherence to review rules, no guarantees of placement, and an arrangement that leaves every account and asset in your name.
Why does Progression publish a page about Austin when it is based in New York?
Because the work runs remotely and the market facts can be researched from primary sources, as this page is. Progression Agency is based in New York City and works with clients across the United States and worldwide. We say plainly that we have no Austin office.
What happens to our accounts and content if we stop working with Progression?
They stay yours. Our logins to the website, analytics, Search Console, Bing Webmaster Tools and Business Profile are access only, and the AEO retainer term is stated in the written scope. The prompt record and the pages we wrote remain with you.
