B2B SEO Agency: B2B SEO Services Built Around Buying Committees and Pipeline

Updated October 2026 · Written and maintained by the Progression Agency strategy team

A B2B SEO agency plans and runs search optimization for companies that sell to other businesses, where a handful of searches from the right buyers can be worth more than thousands of visits from the wrong ones. Progression Agency provides B2B SEO services for software, technology, fintech, manufacturing, industrial and professional services companies: research into how buying committees search, the comparison, pricing, industry and integration pages they read late in a deal, the technical work large B2B sites need, and reporting that follows search visitors into opportunities and revenue in the CRM. Progression Agency is based in New York City and works with clients across the United States and worldwide.

The short answerB2B SEO services earn visibility for the searches a buying committee makes over a long sales cycle: problem and category research early, then vendor comparisons, alternatives, pricing, integrations, security and industry fit late in the deal. The work combines technical fixes so search engines can crawl and index the pages that matter, a small number of high-intent pages written from sales conversations, and measurement that ties organic visits to demo or quote requests, opportunities and revenue in the CRM rather than to traffic. Expect the first quarter to go on foundations and the first bottom-of-funnel pages, with pipeline judged over two to four quarters. As published planning ranges, SEO retainers run $2,500 to $5,000 a month for a mid-sized program and $5,000 to $10,000 for large sites or national terms, and every quote follows a written scope.

Search volumes, costs per click and SEO difficulty scores are Ubersuggest data for the United States, September 2026. Platform documentation and rules are described as published on October 5, 2026 and can change. Prices are the planning ranges published in our pricing guides. Nothing on this page is legal advice.

What do B2B SEO services include?

Six workstreams: buyer research, page strategy, bottom-of-funnel content, technical SEO, authority building and pipeline measurement. Most B2B programs spend more of the budget on the last two and on technical work than a consumer program would.

The difference from consumer search is not the toolkit, which is the same. It is the arithmetic. A company that sells six-figure contracts to a few thousand possible customers does not need a page that ranks for a phrase with 40,000 searches a month. It needs to be found by the twelve people at a target account who are comparing three vendors this quarter, and it needs proof that they came through search. Every workstream below is shaped by that.

Research that starts with the sales team

Keyword tools are weak in B2B because volumes are small and many valuable phrases show as zero. The better first source is the recorded sales call: the problems prospects describe, the competitors they name and the questions procurement asks. Search data then confirms which of those phrasings people actually type.

Pages for each way a buyer can describe the need

A capability page, an industry page and a use-case page answer different searches even when they describe the same product. Building them as separate, specific pages, each with its own evidence, is what lets a site rank for the long tail without producing thin variations of one template.

Reporting that sales leaders believe

The output that matters is a monthly view of opportunities and revenue where the first or a later touch was organic search, next to the pages that produced them. Rankings and traffic sit underneath that as diagnostics.

How do B2B buyers search for a vendor?

In stages and in parallel. Several people at the same company search separately over weeks or months, each with a different question, and most of them never fill in a form until the shortlist is nearly settled.

A long cycle changes what a page has to do. The champion who first finds a vendor may be reading a how-to article months before a budget exists. The technical evaluator arrives later through an integration page. The economic buyer looks for pricing and the security lead for a document list. A site that only has a home page, a product page and a contact form serves none of them well. The cards below set out who is usually searching and what each one looks for.

Champion: Finds the problem first. Searches symptoms and how-to questions.
Technical evaluator: Checks fit and risk. Reads docs, integrations and specs.
Economic buyer: Signs the budget. Wants pricing logic and outcomes.
Procurement: Runs the process. Looks for terms, security and references.
End user: Lives with the choice. Compares workflows and support.
Executive sponsor: Owns the risk. Reads category and vendor comparisons.

The buying committee

Committees vary by deal size, but most include someone who feels the problem, someone who checks technical fit, someone who controls budget and someone who runs the purchase. Each needs a page written for their question, and internal links that let them move between those pages without starting over at the home page.

The long cycle

Because research is spread over months, the same company may visit a site dozens of times from different people and devices. That is why last-click reporting undercounts organic search in B2B: the visit that found you is often months older than the form fill that gets the credit.

The vocabulary gap

Vendors describe products in their own category language; buyers describe problems in theirs. The pages that rank and convert use the buyer’s words in headings and the vendor’s terms in the detail, so both the newcomer and the expert recognize the page as relevant.

Where B2B SEO sits next to B2B marketing and AI answers

Search is one channel inside a wider B2B program, and AI assistants are a related but separate surface. This page covers the search work; two other pages cover the rest.

If you want SEO as one part of a full program with positioning, LinkedIn, paid search, account-based marketing and sales alignment, our B2B marketing agency page describes that engagement, including how SEO for B2B companies fits inside it. If the question is how your company gets named when buyers ask ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini or Copilot for a vendor shortlist, our AEO for B2B companies page covers the prompts, sources and measurement. For the general menu of what SEO work involves, see what SEO services are.

Why do low-volume B2B keywords carry so much value?

Because one customer can be worth a year of a consumer site’s revenue. A phrase with 70 searches a month that reaches people comparing vendors is often a better target than one with 7,000 that reaches students.

The searches people use when they look for help with B2B search show the pattern. In Ubersuggest data for September 2026, seo agency b2b draws about 1,000 US searches a month and b2b seo marketing agency about 880, while seo for b2b companies and b2b seo services draw about 590 each. The narrower phrases are small: b2b tech seo agency and b2b seo expert at about 70, b2b tech seo at about 30, and b2b business seo, b2b website seo, b2b fintech seo and local seo for b2b at about 10 each. Yet b2b tech seo agency carries the highest cost per click in the measured set at $72.18, because advertisers know a single client justifies the bid.

The same logic applies to your own market. When we research a client’s keywords, phrases with tiny reported volumes are kept if sales calls show buyers use them, because reported volumes for niche business terms are often rounded down or missing. What matters is whether the phrase signals a buyer with a real problem and a budget.

Which bottom-of-funnel pages should a B2B company build first?

The pages a buyer reads when they are close to a decision: comparisons, alternatives, pricing, integrations, industry fit and security. They draw little traffic and a large share of qualified inquiries.

Most B2B sites are top-heavy: a blog full of definitions and very little for the person who already knows the category and is choosing a vendor. Building the late-stage pages first is usually the fastest route to pipeline, because the searches behind them are made by people already in a buying process.

Comparison page: You vs a named rival. Dated, fair and specific.
Alternatives page: Options in the category. Honest about when you lose.
Pricing page: Ranges and cost drivers. Answers the first sales question.
Integration page: One page per connector. Matches how evaluators search.
Industry page: One per segment served. Uses that segment's vocabulary.
Security page: Controls and documents. Saves procurement a meeting.

Comparison pages

A page comparing you with a named competitor has to be fair to be useful: dated, specific about where each product fits, and honest about the cases where the other vendor is the better choice. Buyers check these claims with the competitor’s sales team, so an inaccurate page costs more trust than it earns.

Alternatives pages

Searches for alternatives to a market leader usually come from people who are unhappy or still evaluating. A good alternatives page explains the trade-offs across several options, including yours, and says plainly who each one suits.

Pricing pages

Even when the final number depends on scope, a page that explains the pricing model, the ranges and what moves the price answers the question every committee asks first. Leaving it out sends the buyer to a competitor or to a review site that guesses.

Integration and compatibility pages

Technical evaluators search for a product name plus the system it must connect to. One page per significant integration, with what syncs, how often and what it requires, matches those searches exactly.

Industry and use-case pages

A logistics buyer and a healthcare buyer describe the same need in different words and worry about different rules. Separate pages written in each segment’s vocabulary rank for that segment’s searches and convert better than one generic page.

Security and compliance pages

Procurement and security reviewers look for the controls, certifications and documents a vendor can provide. A clear page listing what exists and how to request it shortens the review and is often what a reviewer searches for by name.

Scope B2B SEO

Technical SEO for large B2B websites

Large catalogs, documentation sites, JavaScript applications and multi-country sites fail in search for technical reasons long before content quality matters. The fixes are specific and Google documents most of them.

B2B sites grow by accretion: a product catalog here, a help center there, a resources library on a different platform, a partner portal and three regional versions. Each addition can create URLs that search engines waste time on, pages they cannot render, or duplicates that split signals. Our technical SEO work starts with a crawl and the Search Console reports, and ends with a ranked fix list your developers can act on.

Crawl budget on very large sites

Google’s crawl budget guide says it is written mainly for sites with more than a million unique pages that change about weekly, sites with more than 10,000 pages that change daily, and sites where Search Console shows a large share of URLs as discovered but not indexed, and it calls those numbers rough estimates. Most B2B sites are smaller; for them, an up-to-date sitemap and a regular look at the Page Indexing report are enough. Distributors and parts manufacturers with big catalogs are the common exception.

Filtering a catalog by size, material, voltage or certification can generate an almost endless set of URLs. Google’s faceted navigation guidance recommends blocking those filtered URLs in robots.txt when they do not need to be indexed, or using URL fragments for filters, and treats rel=”canonical” and nofollow as weaker long-term signals. The commercial question is which filter combinations match real searches, such as a material plus a part type, and deserve a proper indexable page.

JavaScript frameworks and single-page apps

Software companies often build marketing pages and documentation on JavaScript frameworks. Google queues pages for rendering and its JavaScript SEO documentation still calls server-side rendering or pre-rendering a great idea, because it is faster for users and crawlers and not every bot runs JavaScript. Links also need to be real anchor elements with an href attribute; Google’s crawlable links guide says links that only work through script events cannot be extracted reliably.

Documentation, help centers and subdomains

Docs and help articles often answer the exact questions technical evaluators search for, but they sit on separate platforms with their own templates, duplicate versions and missing internal links back to product pages. Bringing them into the same measurement and linking them to the commercial pages turns support content into evaluation content.

International and multi-language sites

B2B companies selling into several countries need each language or regional version to point at the others. Google’s localized versions documentation describes hreflang annotations and an x-default fallback for unmatched languages. Our international SEO page covers the wider program and the hreflang guide the markup.

Migrations, rebrands and replatforming

Acquisitions and rebrands are common in B2B, and each one is a site move. Google’s site move guidance asks for server-side permanent redirects, warns that rankings fluctuate temporarily, and says to keep redirects as long as possible, generally at least a year. A redirect map built before launch is the deliverable that protects years of rankings; our website migration page explains the process.

Page experience

Google’s Core Web Vitals page sets good thresholds of a Largest Contentful Paint within 2.5 seconds, an Interaction to Next Paint under 200 milliseconds and a Cumulative Layout Shift under 0.1. Heavy demo widgets, chat tools and tag managers on B2B sites are frequent causes of slow pages.

B2B tech SEO: software, SaaS and IT services

Technology buyers search with precise product and integration terms, read documentation before they talk to sales, and compare vendors on review sites. A b2b tech seo agency has to work across marketing pages, docs and those third-party profiles.

Software companies have assets other B2B sellers lack: documentation, changelogs, API references, templates and free tools. Each can rank for the specific searches technical evaluators make, provided it is crawlable and linked to the commercial pages. Google’s software app structured data documentation lists the name, an offer price and a rating or review as required properties for app rich results. Our SaaS SEO agency page goes deeper on subscription software, and SaaS link building on authority.

  • Documentation and API reference pages that render as HTML and link to the product page they support.
  • Integration pages for each significant connector, written for the evaluator rather than the marketer.
  • Comparison and alternatives pages that name competitors fairly and are updated when products change.
  • Templates, calculators and free tools that answer a working question and lead naturally to the product.
  • Changelog and release notes that are indexable, so searches for new features find the vendor’s own page.
  • Security, compliance and status pages that procurement reviewers search for by name.

IT services firms, managed service providers and cybersecurity vendors sell to the same committees with more emphasis on trust and location. Our MSP marketing and cybersecurity marketing pages cover those markets.

B2B fintech SEO: search inside financial rules

Financial technology content is held to a higher standard by search engines and by regulators. Pages need named expertise, careful claims and a review step before they go live.

Google’s guidance on helpful, reliable, people-first content says its systems give even more weight to content showing strong experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trust on topics that could significantly affect people’s financial stability, which it calls Your Money or Your Life topics. For a fintech selling to businesses, that means named authors with relevant backgrounds, sources for figures and an editorial process the site can describe.

The rules on what can be claimed matter as much as rankings. Under 12 CFR 328.102, no person may represent or imply that an uninsured financial product is insured or guaranteed by the FDIC, and a statement about deposit insurance by a company that is not an insured bank has to disclose clearly that it is not an FDIC-insured bank and that insurance only covers the failure of an insured bank. Comparison and landing pages for payments, treasury and banking-as-a-service products are where that language most often goes wrong. We build fintech pages inside these rules; your counsel signs off on the claims. Our SEO for fintech and fintech marketing pages cover the market in more depth.

SEO for B2B companies in manufacturing, industrial and professional services

Industrial buyers search by specification, material, tolerance and certification; professional services buyers search by problem, industry and credential. Both reward detail that generic marketing pages leave out.

Manufacturers and distributors

Engineers and buyers search for part types, materials, standards and capabilities, often with numbers in the query. Capability pages that state what can be made, to what tolerance and under which quality system, plus spec sheets that are indexable rather than locked in PDFs, are the core. Our manufacturing SEO and industrial SEO pages cover the method.

Professional services firms

Consultancies, engineering firms, accountants and specialist law firms win on expertise pages: a page per service and per industry, written by or with the people who do the work, with credentials and published thinking that a committee can check.

B2B business SEO for smaller firms

A firm with a few service lines and a regional client base does not need an enterprise program. It needs a clear page per service, a page per industry it knows well, a working analytics setup and a steady flow of useful articles. Our SEO services page describes that scale of engagement.

Is local SEO for B2B worth doing?

For B2B firms that meet clients in person or send staff to client sites, yes. For companies that sell only online or from a virtual office, a Google Business Profile is not available, and national search is the better investment.

Google’s Business Profile eligibility rules say a business must make in-person contact with customers during its stated hours to qualify. The profile guidelines add that a rented mailing address the business does not operate from, a virtual office, is not eligible, and that service-area businesses that visit customers should hide the address and set a service area. That fits commercial cleaning, facilities, IT support, industrial maintenance, staffing and professional firms with client-facing offices, and rules out most software companies.

Where it fits, local seo for b2b works the same way as for any local business: a complete profile, reviews from real clients, location pages with local proof and consistent listings. Our local SEO services page covers the program.

Request a technical review

Content tied to pipeline, not page views

Each article or page should be able to name the buyer, the stage and the next step it supports. Content that cannot is usually traffic for its own sake.

Where the topics come from

Sales call recordings, lost-deal notes, support tickets, RFP questions and the objections sales engineers hear every week. These produce topics no keyword tool shows and that competitors rarely cover well.

Subject-matter experts

B2B readers spot generic writing quickly. The workable model is a short interview with an engineer, consultant or product manager, a draft written from it, and a review by the same person. Their name on the page also answers the expertise question readers and search engines ask.

A page has to be indexable for Google to show it, which its technical requirements define as not blocked, returning HTTP 200 and holding indexable content. A white paper behind a form does not rank. The practical answer is an indexable page that covers the substance, with the full download or the working template behind the form for those who want it.

AI-assisted drafting and scaled content

Google’s spam policies define scaled content abuse as generating many pages mainly to manipulate rankings rather than help people, however the pages are made, and give using generative AI tools to produce many pages without adding value as an example. Templates and AI tools are fine for structure and first drafts; each published page still needs facts, expertise and a reason to exist that the others do not cover.

  • Name the buyer role, the stage and the next step before writing.
  • Interview the subject-matter expert, then draft from the interview.
  • State figures with their origin in the sentence and date them.
  • Link each article to the commercial page it supports.
  • Review claims about competitors, security and pricing with the owners.
  • Refresh pages when products, prices or rules change.
  • Retire or merge pages that compete with each other for the same search.

Our content marketing and SEO content writing pages describe the production side.

How is B2B SEO measured in the CRM?

By following each organic visitor from the landing page to a form, then to a lead, an opportunity and closed revenue in the CRM. Search Console and analytics show the top of that chain; only the CRM shows whether it paid.

Four tools carry the data. Search Console’s Performance report shows clicks, impressions, click-through rate and average position by query and page. Google Analytics records the visit and the conversion: you mark the events that matter, such as a demo request, as key events, and Google’s key events help page sets a limit of 30 on standard properties. Campaign links tagged with UTM parameters keep newsletter, social and partner traffic from being mixed into organic. The CRM then holds the lead source, the landing page and the opportunity.

Long B2B cycles collide with analytics retention. Google’s data retention settings let a standard property keep user-level and event-level data for 2 or 14 months for explorations and funnel reports, while standard aggregated reports are not affected. A deal that closes 16 months after the first visit cannot be traced in an exploration, so the first-touch source and landing page need to be written to the contact record in the CRM when the form is submitted.

Self-reported attribution helps too. A required free-text field asking how the buyer heard about you catches the podcast, the peer recommendation and the AI assistant that analytics cannot see. Read it next to the source data rather than instead of it. Our marketing analytics and CRM consulting pages cover the setup.

Account-based marketing and SEO: where they meet

The target account list should shape which industry and use-case pages get built first, and SEO pages should be the material sales and paid campaigns send those accounts to.

Using the target account list

If sales is pursuing 300 named companies in four industries, the industry pages for those four come first, written with the problems those companies discuss publicly. Search then brings in similar companies the list missed.

Seeing which accounts arrive

Visitor identification tools match some company traffic to firm names, and intent data providers flag companies researching a topic. Both are imperfect and need privacy review, but they let sales see when a target account reads a pricing or comparison page. Our guides to website visitor tracking and B2B intent data providers compare the options.

Pages sales can send

A good comparison page or security page is also a sales asset. When sales sends it after a call, the account sees the same argument the search visitor saw. Paid LinkedIn ads can then put those pages in front of the rest of the committee, and our demand generation page covers the paid side.

How long does B2B SEO take to produce pipeline?

Plan on a first quarter of foundations and first pages, early ranking movement on low-competition bottom-of-funnel terms in the second, and pipeline that can be judged over two to four quarters. Nobody can promise a date for a particular ranking.

Google’s guidance on hiring an SEO is blunt that no one can guarantee a number-one ranking, and advises finding someone else if an SEO guarantees first place. What can be planned is the sequence of work, which is what the timeline below shows. It is an editorial plan, not a measured result.

How much do B2B SEO services cost?

As published planning ranges, a mid-sized SEO retainer runs $2,500 to $5,000 a month and a large one $5,000 to $10,000, with enterprise programs above $10,000. Technical audits, migrations and analytics work are priced as projects.

B2B programs usually sit in the middle and upper bands because the work leans on technical fixes, expert content and measurement rather than volume. Every figure below is a planning range published on our pricing pages; a quote follows a written scope.

For context on the wider budget, our technology marketing page publishes total marketing budgets by company stage: $3,000 to $8,000 a month for companies under $1 million in annual recurring revenue, $8,000 to $25,000 between $1 million and $5 million, and $25,000 to $80,000 between $5 million and $20 million. SEO is one line inside those figures. Our SEO pricing guide explains each range in detail.

What should a B2B SEO expert deliver each month?

Work you can see and check: pages published or improved, technical fixes shipped, links earned with their sources, and a report that ties all of it to opportunities. A b2b seo expert who only sends rankings is reporting the least useful number.

  • A short plan for the month naming the pages, fixes and outreach, agreed before work starts.
  • New or rewritten pages, each mapped to one search intent and one buyer stage.
  • Technical tickets with the URLs affected, the fix and its status in your developers’ queue.
  • A list of links and mentions earned, with where each came from.
  • Search Console movement for the priority pages and queries, not a site-wide average.
  • Demo, quote and contact requests from organic landings, by page.
  • Opportunities and pipeline with an organic touch, read from the CRM.
  • What did not work, and what changes next month because of it.

Plan the measurement

How to choose a B2B SEO agency

Check four things: that they understand selling to committees, that they can do the technical work your site needs, that they will measure in your CRM, and that they follow Google’s published guidance rather than shortcuts.

Google’s own hiring checklist suggests asking for examples of previous work, whether the SEO follows Google Search Essentials, what results to expect and in what timeframe, how success is measured, and what experience they have in your industry and country. It also advises granting only read access to Search Console while an SEO audits a site, and reminds site owners that they are responsible for the actions of companies they hire.

Warning signs when hiring a B2B SEO agency

Guarantees, secrecy and link packages. Each one appears in Google’s own guidance as a reason to look elsewhere.

  • A guaranteed first-place ranking or a guaranteed number of leads.
  • Claims of a special relationship with Google or a priority submission route.
  • Monthly packages of links from sites you are not allowed to see.
  • A requirement that you link to the agency from your site.
  • Reports that show traffic and rankings but never opportunities.
  • Templates that create near-identical pages for every city or industry.
  • Accounts, content or analytics held in the agency’s name instead of yours.
  • Reluctance to explain changes made to your site.

Google’s spam policies list buying or selling links for ranking purposes, including exchanging money or services for links, as link spam, and its hiring guidance says you should never have to link to an SEO. Our marketing agency red flags guide covers warning signs across channels.

How B2B buyers use AI assistants to build a shortlist

They ask ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Microsoft Copilot and Google’s AI Overviews for vendors that fit a size, an industry and a requirement, then check the names they get. The pages those answers draw on are mostly the same pages that rank in search.

Typical prompts are specific: the best B2B SEO agencies for a SaaS company with a long sales cycle, vendors in a category that integrate with a named system, providers that serve healthcare and hold a particular certification, or what a service usually costs per month. Assistants answer from pages that state services, segments, pricing and proof in plain text, from review platforms and directories, and from articles that compare options on stated criteria.

Google says its AI features have no additional requirements beyond normal SEO: a page must be indexed and eligible to show with a snippet, and no special markup or AI text file is needed. Other assistants run their own crawlers. OpenAI’s crawler documentation says sites that opt out of OAI-SearchBot are not shown in ChatGPT search answers; Anthropic says blocking Claude-SearchBot may reduce a site’s visibility in search results inside Claude; and Perplexity uses PerplexityBot to surface and link sites. Google’s own list of basics includes allowing crawling in robots.txt and in any CDN or hosting layer, because a firewall rule can block a crawler as surely as robots.txt, so checking access is part of every audit. The full method for being cited is on our AEO for B2B page linked above.

Working with your in-house marketing, sales and product teams

The agency should do the work that needs specialists and leave decisions with the people who own them. A short shared responsibility table, agreed at the start, prevents most delays.

Frequently asked questions

What are B2B SEO services and what do they usually include?
They are search optimization for companies that sell to other businesses, and they usually include buyer research, a page plan by capability, industry and use case, comparison and pricing pages, technical fixes for crawling and indexing, link and authority work, and reporting that follows organic visitors into opportunities and revenue in the CRM.
What does a B2B SEO agency do that a consumer-focused SEO firm usually does not?
It plans for buying committees, long sales cycles and low-volume, high-value searches, and it measures in pipeline rather than traffic. In practice that means more bottom-of-funnel pages, more technical work on catalogs, docs and JavaScript sites, and reporting tied to CRM opportunities instead of sessions and rankings alone.
Which pages should a B2B website build first for search?
The late-stage pages buyers read when choosing a vendor: comparisons with named competitors, alternatives pages, a pricing page with ranges and cost drivers, integration pages, industry pages in each segment’s vocabulary and a security page. They draw little traffic but a large share of qualified inquiries.
Are keywords with only 10 or 20 searches a month worth targeting in B2B?
Often, yes. When one customer is worth tens of thousands of dollars a year, a phrase used by a few dozen genuine buyers can justify a page. Reported volumes for niche business terms are frequently rounded down or missing, so sales conversations are a better guide than the number a keyword tool shows.
How do you track whether organic search produced a sales opportunity?
Capture the first-touch source and landing page on the contact record when a form is submitted, carry them to the opportunity, and report opportunities and revenue where organic search was the first or a later touch. A free-text question about how the buyer heard of you adds what analytics misses.
Why can’t Google Analytics alone measure a long B2B sales cycle?
Standard Google Analytics properties keep user-level and event-level data for explorations and funnel reports for 2 or 14 months, and a single deal can take longer than that from first visit to signature. Writing the source and landing page to the CRM at conversion keeps the trail intact however long the cycle runs.
Does a B2B SEO program need a separate page for every industry we sell to?
For each industry that matters commercially, yes, provided each page says something specific: the segment’s problems, rules, vocabulary and examples. Pages that only swap the industry name are near-duplicates and fall under Google’s warnings about doorway and scaled content.
How should comparison pages treat competitors?
Fairly and specifically. Date the page, state the criteria, show where each product fits and admit where the competitor is the better choice. Buyers check these claims with the other vendor, so an inaccurate comparison costs trust and can create legal risk. Product marketing and legal should review it.
What technical SEO problems are most common on B2B websites?
Filtered catalog URLs that search engines crawl endlessly, content that only appears after JavaScript runs, navigation built on click handlers instead of real links, duplicate documentation versions, missing hreflang on regional sites, redirect gaps after rebrands, and gated resources that leave nothing indexable.
Should white papers and reports be gated or ungated for SEO?
Put the substance on an indexable page and gate only the full download or the working template. Google can only show pages it can crawl and index, so a report hidden entirely behind a form earns no search visibility, while a strong summary page can rank and still collect leads.
What does a b2b tech seo agency do differently for software companies?
It treats documentation, integration pages, changelogs, templates and free tools as search assets, fixes rendering on JavaScript frameworks, and builds comparison and alternatives pages for evaluators. It also checks that review profiles and security pages say the same thing as the main site.
Which rules change b2b fintech seo work?
Financial topics fall under what Google calls Your Money or Your Life, where its systems weigh expertise and trust more heavily. Claims are also regulated: a company that is not an insured bank must not imply FDIC insurance and must disclose that clearly when it discusses deposit insurance. Pages need named experts and a compliance review.
Can a B2B company without a storefront use a Google Business Profile?
Only if it makes in-person contact with customers during its stated hours, for example at an office clients visit or by sending staff to client sites as a service-area business. A virtual office is not eligible, so software companies that sell only online usually cannot have one.
How long before B2B SEO shows up in pipeline?
Plan on a first quarter of tracking, technical fixes and the first bottom-of-funnel pages, ranking movement on less competitive late-stage terms after that, and pipeline that can be judged over two to four quarters. Competitive categories and sites with serious technical debt take longer.
What is a typical monthly budget for B2B search optimization?
As published planning ranges, SEO retainers run $1,500 to $2,500 a month for small programs, $2,500 to $5,000 for mid-sized programs and $5,000 to $10,000 for large sites or national terms, with enterprise programs above $10,000. Audits, migrations and analytics setups are priced as one-off projects.
Is an in-house SEO hire or an outside team better for a B2B company with a small marketing staff?
A single in-house hire rarely covers technical work, content, links and analytics alike, and a freelancer has no cover when unavailable. Many B2B companies keep an internal owner who knows the product and the CRM and use an agency for specialist capacity. Choose by the gaps you have, not the label.
What access does an SEO agency need to a B2B website?
Read-only access to Search Console and analytics for the audit, as Google itself advises, then the access needed to ship agreed changes: a CMS role or developer tickets. Your company should own every account; the agency should be added as a user and removed when the work ends.
How does SEO work alongside account-based marketing?
The target account list decides which industry and use-case pages come first, visitor identification shows sales when target companies read pricing or comparison pages, and the same pages become assets sales sends after calls and paid campaigns show to the rest of the buying committee.
Will B2B buyers find us through ChatGPT and other AI assistants?
They can, if assistants can read your site and other sources corroborate it. Google says its AI features need only an indexed, snippet-eligible page; OpenAI, Anthropic and Perplexity each run search crawlers that sites can block by accident. Pages that state services, segments, pricing and proof plainly are the ones assistants repeat.
Which numbers belong in the monthly report from a B2B search partner?
The pages published or improved, technical fixes shipped, links earned with their sources, Search Console movement for priority pages, demo or quote requests from organic landings, and opportunities and pipeline with an organic touch from the CRM. It should also say what did not work and what changes next.
Is a b2b seo marketing agency worth it for a small professional services firm?
It can be, at the right scale. A firm with a few service lines usually needs a clear page per service and industry, working analytics, a Business Profile if clients visit, and steady expert articles. That fits the smaller published retainer band rather than an enterprise program.
Does it matter where a B2B SEO agency is located?
Less than its understanding of your buyers and its technical depth. The work runs on shared documents, calls and your own accounts. Progression Agency is based in New York City and works with B2B companies across the United States and worldwide, including multi-country sites that need hreflang and regional pages.
What happens to our content and rankings if we change SEO agencies?
If every page, account and piece of content is owned by your company, very little. Problems come from agencies that host content on their own systems, hold analytics in their name or build links you cannot see. Confirm ownership in the contract before work starts.
