Yoga branding is the name, look, voice and feel that make a studio or a teacher recognizable before anyone walks in. Yoga studio branding covers the name, the logo, the colors and type, the photography, the way the class descriptions sound and how all of it shows up on the sign, the booking page, the website and the mat. This page is for studio owners and teachers deciding what to commission and what to expect. It covers what the work includes, how to check a name before you build on it, how branding differs from studio marketing and what it costs. Progression does yoga studio branding, and every engagement starts with a free proposal and a written scope.

The short answer Yoga branding is a set of decisions made once and used everywhere: a name you can protect, a mark that works small, a palette and type that feel like your room, a voice that sounds like your teachers and photos of your real space. Do it before the sign, the site and the booking page, so each of them carries the same identity. Marketing comes after, and it is a separate job.
The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office guidance is cited as published in November 2026 and can change. Nothing on this page is legal advice; ask a trademark attorney about your own name. Price bands are market figures, not a Progression quote.
What is yoga branding?
Yoga branding is the identity of a studio or teacher: the name, logo, colors, typography, photography and voice that tell a student what to expect before the first class. It is different from advertising. Branding decides how the studio looks and sounds everywhere; advertising and studio marketing then use that identity to fill classes.
The cards below show the six parts of a brand a studio uses every day. Most owners notice the logo first, but the name and the voice do more of the daily work.
Is a yoga logo the same as yoga branding?
No. A logo is one piece. A studio with a beautiful mark and no rule for color, type or wording still looks different on the sign, the booking page and the social profile. The brand is the system around the mark.
Why does a yoga studio need more than a logo?
Students decide in seconds whether a room is for them. The photos, the class descriptions, the colors and the tone of the first email all speak before the teacher does. A brand makes those signals agree.
What does yoga studio branding cover?
Branding for yoga studios covers the decisions that stay fixed while classes, teachers and seasons change: the name, the mark, the palette, the type, the voice, the photography style and the rules for using them. A good job ends with a one page brand sheet anyone on the team can follow.
| Part | What you receive | Where it shows up |
|---|---|---|
| Name | A short list of options, checked and ranked | Sign, booking page, bank account, social handles |
| Logo and mark | A symbol and a wordmark in color, one color and reversed | Window, mat, towel, app icon, class pass |
| Color and type | A palette with codes and two typefaces | Site, flyers, emails, signage, merchandise |
| Voice | A page of sample sentences and words to avoid | Class descriptions, emails, replies, captions |
| Photography | A short brief for a shoot in your own space | Site, booking page, social profiles, ads |
| Brand sheet | One page of rules | Everything a designer, printer or teacher makes for you |
Each row is a yoga studios branding decision that stays fixed while the schedule changes. If the channels come next, that is studio marketing, covered on our yoga and Pilates studio marketing page. For branding across any category, see our branding agency page.
How do you choose and check a yoga studio name?
Choose a name that is short, easy to say over the phone and easy to spell, and then check it before you build on it. The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office says a trademark identifies the source of goods or services, and that you do not gain rights to a word or phrase in general, only to how it is used with your goods or services.
What the trademark office says about names
The USPTO guidance on what a trademark is also says that rights come from using a mark, that those rights are limited to the geographic area where you provide the services, and that federal registration creates nationwide rights. It advises that a name that merely describes the services is a weaker choice than a creative and unique one. In plain terms for a studio: a name made of the words yoga, flow and studio is easy to remember and hard to protect.
A simple check before you commit
Search the national trademark database for similar names in the same field, check your state business records, search the name on the map and on the booking apps students use, and see whether the social handles and the domain are free. If a close name is already used by a studio in your area, choose again. Ask a trademark attorney before you pay for signs.
How should yoga studio logo design work?
Good yoga studio logo design starts small. The mark has to read as a phone icon and a social avatar before it is a sign, so it needs a clear shape and few details. Ask any designer for the logo in one color, reversed on a dark background and at the size of a thumbnail before you approve it.
- Ask for the mark in full color, one color and reversed.
- Ask for a version that works in a tight square, such as a profile photo or an app icon.
- Ask what happens to the files: you should receive editable source files and own them.
- Ask for the typeface names and the license, so a printer or a site can use them.
- Ask how the logo looks stitched, printed on a mat or etched on a window.
- Keep any symbols with a religious or cultural meaning for people who understand and respect them, and ask yourself why the symbol is there.
Logo design on its own is sold by many people, from freelancers to agencies. Our logo design services page lays out the routes and how their price bands compare.
Color, type and photography that feel like your room
Choose color and type that feel like the studio a student walks into: warm and low for a restorative room, bright and clean for a power flow, earthy for a studio with plants and wood. Photograph the real room with the real teachers, because students notice when a space on the site does not match the one on the street.
Pick a palette of three colors and a neutral
One main color, one supporting color, one accent and a neutral for backgrounds is enough. Write the codes down so the site, the printer and the sign painter match.
Choose two typefaces and stop
One for headlines and one for reading. Pick families that have a license for web and print, and use them on the schedule, the emails and the class passes.
Shoot your own space
A half day in your room with your teachers gives you the images for a year: the entry, the mats laid out, the light at different times, a beginner class and a teacher at ease. Our wellness photos and imagery page covers what to ask for.
What is yoga teacher branding?
Yoga teacher branding is the identity of an individual teacher: a name, a recognizable look and a way of speaking that travel with them from studio to studio, to workshops, retreats, online classes and a personal page. A teacher brand differs from a studio brand because it has to work inside other people’s schedules and booking pages.
Teachers who work at several studios usually need a simple mark, a short description of their style and a consistent photo. Teachers building a following of their own may also need a personal site and a mailing list. See personal branding and branding for coaches for the parallel work in other fields.
Teaching under your own name or a brand name?
If students follow you, your name carries equity and a brand name can wait. If you plan to hire teachers or sell the business one day, a studio name that is not your own is easier to hand over.
Yoga branding versus yoga studio marketing
Branding sets the identity; studio marketing gets students through the door. They are separate jobs with separate prices, and a studio often needs the first before the second makes sense.
| Topic | Yoga branding | Yoga studio marketing |
|---|---|---|
| Question it answers | Who are we and how do we look and sound? | How do new students find us and come back? |
| Typical form | A project with a start and an end | An ongoing monthly program |
| What you receive | Name, mark, color, type, voice, photos, brand sheet | Search, ads, email, social, booking-page work and reporting |
| Best time | Before the sign, the site and the booking page | After the identity is settled |
For the second column, see yoga and Pilates studio marketing. For the brand marketing that follows an identity, see digital brand marketing. For a live experience, see brand activation.
How do you brand a yoga studio, step by step?
Brand a yoga studio in six steps: describe the studio, check the name, design the mark, set color, type and voice, apply it everywhere and write the brand sheet. Do them in that order, because a name that fails a check should change before a logo is drawn.
Where should the brand show up first?
Start with the places a new student meets you before a class: the map listing, the booking page, the website and the sign. Then the class pass and the mat. Our digital marketing services page covers the channels that come after.

What does yoga branding cost?
Yoga branding costs depend on whether you need a logo only or a full identity, and on who does the work. Below are Progression’s published prices, then market bands from other providers.
Our prices
Here is what we publish today for the parts of a studio brand. A quote for your studio comes after a written scope.
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Logo only, agency, from our branding agency page | $3,000 to $10,000 |
| Full brand identity system, from our branding agency page | $12,000 to $60,000 |
| Landing page for a class launch or offer | from $1,400 |
| Brochure site, 5 to 8 pages | from $9,500 |
| Social media packages: Presence, Growth, Program | $850, $1,850 or $3,400 a month |
Published market price bands
These are published US price bands (market figures, not a Progression rate card). Each band starts at the usual low and ends at the published high. Treat them as context for a quote, not as an offer.
| Type of engagement | Published US band | What it describes |
|---|---|---|
| Logo design | $400 to $10,000 | One project, whether a freelancer or an agency does it |
| Brand identity system | $10,000 to $100,000 | A full identity with guidelines, done as a single project |
| Single channel retainer | $1,000 to $12,000 a month | One channel, such as social, run continuously after branding |
A freelancer can design a good logo for a small studio if the brief is clear. A full identity makes sense when you open a second room, sell merchandise or plan to franchise or hand over the business.
Yoga branding for retreats, trainings and workshops
Retreats, teacher trainings and workshops are products of the studio and benefit from a consistent look and voice. A retreat gets its own page, photo set and wording, but it carries the studio’s colors and type so students recognize it as yours.
- Use the studio’s colors and type on retreat and training pages.
- Give each offer a plain name that says what it is, with the studio name next to it.
- Keep one photo style across all offers.
- Put the dates, the price and the way to book in the first screen of each page.
- Reuse the same wording for the teachers’ bios everywhere.
