Wix and Webflow are both hosted website builders, but they serve different people. Wix, and its agency-oriented Wix Studio, is built for owners and small teams who want a site fast with apps for everything; Webflow is built for designers and agencies who want full control of layout and code. The short answerChoose Wix when a business owner or small team will build and run the site themselves and wants bookings, stores, members and marketing apps built in. Choose Webflow when a designer or agency builds the site and the brand needs a custom look, clean code and a structured CMS. Wix Studio narrows the gap for agencies, but Webflow still offers deeper design control and better code output; Wix still offers more out-of-the-box business features.

Ease of use
Wix is the easier builder: templates, drag-and-drop anywhere, an AI site generator and built-in apps mean a working site in a day. Webflow expects the builder to understand boxes, classes and responsive rules; it rewards that understanding with precision but is not a first-time-owner tool.
Design and code quality
Webflow produces clean HTML and CSS that a developer would recognize, with reusable classes, components and animation tooling. Wix’s output is heavier and layouts can drift across breakpoints, though Wix Studio improved responsive behavior significantly. For a brand that lives on its visual identity, Webflow is the stronger tool.
CMS and content
Both offer collections for blogs, portfolios and listings. Webflow’s CMS is more structured (references, multi-references, rich text fields) and its collection pages more designable; Wix’s CMS is adequate for standard content and integrates with its apps.
SEO and performance
Both cover titles, descriptions, URLs, redirects, sitemaps and structured data. Webflow’s cleaner output and hosting usually give better Core Web Vitals; Wix has invested heavily in performance and SEO tooling and now performs well for typical small business sites. Ecommerce and business features
Wix includes stores, bookings, restaurants, events, memberships, invoicing and marketing tools; for a service business or small shop it is the more complete package. Webflow Ecommerce is basic and serious stores pair Webflow with Shopify or move to Shopify entirely. See Shopify vs WooCommerce.
Portability
Neither lets you take the working site elsewhere. Webflow exports static code and CMS content; Wix offers no export beyond content copy. Plan for this: keep the domain in your own registrar account and content in a form you can reuse.
Wix Studio vs Webflow
Wix Studio is Wix’s platform for agencies and freelancers: better responsive tools, reusable design assets, client billing and team workspaces. It brings Wix closer to Webflow for agency work while keeping Wix’s app ecosystem. Webflow remains ahead on design precision, code output and CMS structure; Studio is ahead on built-in business features and speed of delivery.
