Updated September 2026 · Written and maintained by the Progression Agency strategy team
Progression Agency is a New York marketing agency, web and software company that works with clients worldwide and with global clients entering the United States. Two kinds of company use this page: businesses outside the United States that want a US agency for their own market, and businesses planning a US market entry that need marketing built for American search, advertising law and buyers. Both get the same process, the same contract and the same prices; what changes by country is set out below.

The short answerWe accept clients from any country and design to the privacy law that applies to your users. Every engagement, domestic or international, runs on a written scope, a paid discovery phase first, milestone prepayment, US-dollar invoicing and a New York contract. For a company entering the United States, the marketing plan has to be rebuilt for US search behaviour, state-level law and buyers who compare more before they call; that is the work we do most for international clients.
Laws and registers named on this page are summaries current at the time of writing; the signed engagement letter governs, and the applicable law for a project is confirmed in discovery.
Who this page is for
The first group is companies abroad that want a US agency for marketing, websites or software in their own market: a UK consultancy that wants an American agency’s search and AI work, a South African firm building a client-intake system, a Gulf company that wants its site rebuilt. The second group is companies entering the US market: a European software vendor opening a US subsidiary, an Australian consumer brand launching on US marketplaces, a Canadian services firm expanding south. The engagement terms are on our international clients page; this page covers what changes by country and what a US market entry actually involves.
Marketing in the United States: what changes for a foreign company
US search demand is larger and more fragmented than most home markets. Buyers search by state and city, compare several providers, read reviews before contacting anyone, and expect prices or ranges on the site. Advertising law is federal and state at once: commercial email is governed by CAN-SPAM, calls and texts by the TCPA, reviews and testimonials by the FTC’s consumer review rule, and consumer privacy by a growing set of state laws rather than one national statute. Health, finance and legal services carry their own advertising rules. A site that converts in Manchester or Melbourne usually needs US spellings, US-format phone numbers, an American address or a clear statement of where the company is, and pricing in dollars before it converts in Chicago.
US market entry strategy: a market entry strategy framework that survives the first year
A market entry strategy for the United States is mostly a marketing plan with compliance attached, and market entry USA searches usually start with a company that already has a product. Most failed US launches did not fail on product. They failed on demand assumptions carried over from the home market, on a website that made American buyers unsure who they were dealing with, and on paid media bought at home-market prices. The plan below is the sequence we run; each phase is a written deliverable and is prepaid, so no client is asked to fund a launch they have not seen scoped. It is also the market entry consulting we offer: market entry strategy consulting for the demand, positioning and channel questions, then execution. The same market entry strategy framework runs in reverse for a US company going abroad, where it becomes an international market entry strategy or a global market entry strategy across several countries at once.
| Phase | What is produced | Why it comes in this order |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Demand check | Search-demand and competitor map for the US, by state where it matters | Volumes, prices and competitors differ from the home market; this is where entries are won or lost |
| 2. Positioning and compliance | US positioning, claims review against FTC rules, privacy and consent plan | Claims allowed at home can be unlawful in the US; fixing them after launch is expensive |
| 3. US web presence | US pages or a US site: dollars, US contact details, entity disclosure, schema with the right areaServed | Buyers check who they are dealing with before they call |
| 4. Search foundation | Technical SEO, hreflang between home and US versions, US content plan | Organic demand is cheaper than paid and compounds; it also feeds AI answers |
| 5. Paid launch | Search and social campaigns with US-market bids, tracking and lead routing | Paid gives immediate feedback on the positioning while organic builds |
| 6. Review and scale | Monthly written review of cost per lead by state and channel; expansion or correction | The first ninety days decide the budget for the next nine months |
Countries we work with
We do not publish a list of countries we decline. The paid discovery phase, the company verification and the prepayment terms qualify every project, whichever country it comes from. The table shows the countries we work with most, the privacy law we design to for users there, the public register we use to verify a company, the payment rail that usually suits, and the working-hours overlap with New York. Where your country is not listed, the same terms apply; ask.

Regional notes
United Kingdom and Ireland
The closest fit to US work: shared language, similar buying behaviour, a five-hour offset that gives a full morning of overlap. UK GDPR and the EU GDPR are near-identical for design purposes; the practical differences are cookie consent (stricter than the US), PECR’s rules on marketing email, and the need for a data-processing agreement when we run tools in your accounts. UK and Irish companies entering the US usually underestimate how much US buyers rely on reviews and how different US search volumes are for the same product.
Canada
Same time zones as the US, similar search behaviour, different law. CASL is stricter than CAN-SPAM on consent for commercial email, Quebec’s Law 25 adds French-language and privacy obligations, and PIPEDA governs the rest. Canadian companies entering the US typically need US-specific pages rather than a new site, plus hreflang between en-CA and en-US versions so Google serves the right one.
Australia and New Zealand
The time difference is the constraint: a New York morning is an Australian evening, so we run written updates and schedule calls in the overlap. The Privacy Act and the Australian Privacy Principles govern data; the Spam Act governs email. Australian brands entering the US market often arrive with strong products and home-market pricing that has to be rebuilt for US competition and shipping.
European Union, EEA and Switzerland
GDPR applies to every EU and EEA client, with national add-ons (Germany’s TDDDG for cookies, France’s CNIL guidance on analytics, Spain’s LOPDGDD). Switzerland’s revised data-protection act is close enough to GDPR that we design to both at once. Consent mode, EU hosting where required and a data-processing agreement are standard in our builds. For EU companies entering the US, the reverse question matters more: US state privacy laws are lighter than GDPR, but US advertising and review rules are stricter than many European teams expect.
United Arab Emirates and the Gulf
Companies are verified through the Department of Economy licence or the free-zone register (DIFC, ADGM, DMCC and others). The federal data-protection law applies onshore; DIFC and ADGM have their own regimes, which affects where data can sit. Payment is by wire in AED or USD. The eight-to-nine-hour offset means a New York morning is a Gulf afternoon, which works well for calls.
Singapore, Japan and South Korea
Singapore’s PDPA, Japan’s APPI and Korea’s PIPA each have consent and cross-border transfer rules that shape how a site collects data. Search behaviour differs too: Naver matters in Korea, and Yahoo Japan still carries meaningful share, so a US-built SEO plan does not transfer unchanged. For companies from these markets entering the US, the work is usually English-language positioning, US search demand and US paid media, run from New York while the home team sleeps.
Israel
A seven-hour offset and a large share of English-language B2B and software companies make Israel a frequent source of US market entry work. The Protection of Privacy Law was substantially amended in 2024; we design to it and to the US state laws at the same time when a company sells in both.
South Africa
POPIA requires an operator agreement when we process personal information for you, an information officer on your side and conditions on cross-border transfer; all three are part of our contract. Companies are verified through CIPC. Payment is by wire or Wise in USD; exchange-control paperwork on the client side is the client’s responsibility and we supply the invoices and declarations a bank asks for.
Outside the United States, or entering it?Send the project and your country. You get a written feasibility view, the privacy law we would design to, and a fixed-price discovery proposal in US dollars.
What does not change by country
The scope is written before work starts. Discovery is a fixed-price, prepaid phase whose deliverable is yours whether or not you continue. Each build phase is prepaid before it begins. The contract is governed by New York law with arbitration in New York. Accounts, hosting, repositories and ad accounts are opened in your name from the start, and code, designs, prompts and content transfer to you on final payment. Planning ranges on our pricing page are US figures and apply worldwide; a quotation follows discovery.
