Window Company Marketing: Marketing for Window and Door Contractors That Books Appointments, Not Just Leads

Updated October 2026 · Written and maintained by the Progression Agency strategy team

Window company marketing is the work of getting homeowners and building owners to book a measure appointment with a window and door company, then turning those appointments into signed projects. We build it for replacement window installers, window and door dealers and showrooms, siding-and-window contractors and entry, patio and storm door sellers, and we deliver search and maps visibility, paid campaigns, a quote funnel and reporting by cost per project sold. Progression Agency is based in New York City and works with clients across the United States and worldwide.

The short answerWindow and door marketing works when it is judged by signed projects, not by lead counts. A program combines a branch profile and local pages, product pages written as answers, paid search and paid social with call tracking, a quote form and online booking, steady first-party reviews and consent-based follow-up. Homeowners distrust the category, so a published price range and plain warranty terms lift booking rates. Expect paid search to produce appointments within weeks and search visibility to build over six to twelve months; judge any change over a full quarter.

Rules and platform details were read on the official pages of the EPA, the FTC, the FCC rule text, the IRS, ENERGY STAR, NFRC and Google in October 2026 and may change. Prices come from Progression’s own published SEO, social and website pages, and each quote is based on a written scope.

What is window company marketing, and what does it include?

It is every channel that brings a qualified homeowner to the measure appointment, plus the follow-up that gets the contract signed. The test of the work is the number of projects sold for the money spent, because a window lead that never books costs as much as one that does.

Search: Local search and maps. Branch profiles, city and product pages.
Paid: Google, Local Services and Meta. Intent keywords, call tracking.
Funnel: Quote and booking flow. Photo upload, window count, calendar.
Trust: Reviews and proof. Real installs, real customers.
Follow-up: Email and text. Consent first, speed to lead.
Proof: Cost per project sold. Booked, held, signed, installed.

Who this page is for

Window and door contractor marketing here means work for contractors and dealers who sell and install for homeowners and owners of small buildings: replacement window installers, showrooms, dealer networks of a manufacturer, siding and window contractors and companies that add entry, patio and storm doors to a window line. Every client is a business; we do not advise homeowners.

Window marketing that books appointments, not just form fills

A form fill is a hope; a held appointment is a sales opportunity. That is the core of window installer marketing done well. We set each campaign to optimize toward booked and held appointments where the platform allows it, and we report the drop from lead to booking so the weak step is obvious.

Window contractor marketing versus general home services marketing

Marketing for window and door contractors differs from general trades marketing because window buyers spend more per job, take longer to decide and compare more quotes than most home-service customers. Our home services marketing agency page covers the wider trades; this page goes deep on the window and door sale only.

How homeowners shop for replacement windows

They research prices and materials first, check the company second and ask for a quote last. Most arrive expecting a long, pressured in-home sale, which is why so many window leads hesitate to book.

What homeowners check before they call

Reviews on the maps profile and the company site, a sense of price per window, the warranty and who backs it, whether the installers are employees or subcontractors, how long the job takes and whether the company handles permits and disposal. Pages that answer those points plainly win the call.

Why are leads reluctant to book a window appointment?

Because many expect a three-hour presentation, a price that drops only if they sign tonight and a salesperson who will not leave. Saying what the visit includes, how long it takes and that the quote is left in writing removes most of that fear.

Window installation leads by project type

A full-house replacement, a single bay or bow window, a patio door and a storm door are different buyers with different timelines. We tag window installation leads by project type so budget follows the projects you most want to sell.

Lead generation for window and door companies: every source compared

No single source fills a calendar. The strongest window companies blend sources they own (search, reviews, referrals, past customers) with sources they rent (ads, bought leads), and they move money toward whichever produces signed projects at the lowest cost.

Window and door lead generation you own

Window replacement lead generation that you own rests on search pages, the maps profile, the review base and the customer list, which keep producing after the spend stops. They take longer to build, so most companies fund them alongside paid campaigns rather than instead of them.

Window and door lead generation you rent

Window lead generation you rent, meaning ads and bought leads, stops the day the payment stops. They are the fastest way to fill next month’s calendar and the most expensive way to fill next year’s, which is why the share of revenue they carry should fall over time.

Window sales leads from past customers

Customers who bought windows often need doors later, and their neighbors ask who did the work. A simple yearly check-in, a referral thank-you and a yard sign program cost little and close well. Our email marketing for home services page covers the mechanics.

Buy window replacement leads, or build your own pipeline?

Buy when you need volume this month and have a fast, disciplined sales team; build when you want lower cost per project and control over who you talk to. Most companies do both for a while and shift the balance as their own sources mature.

How to get window replacement leads without buying them

Claim and complete a profile for each branch, publish a price range and product pages, run tightly matched Google Ads with call tracking, ask every customer for a review, and follow up every quote. Those five steps produce replacement window leads that you own and that only you are calling.

Exclusive window replacement leads versus shared leads

A shared lead is sold to several companies at once, so the first to call usually wins and the rest pay for nothing. An exclusive lead costs more but goes to you alone. Either way, ask the seller how the homeowner was found, what they were told and whether consent to be called covers your company by name.

A new crew that needs volume before its own channels mature, a new territory with no reviews yet, or a slow season when crews would otherwise sit idle. Set a cost per project ceiling in advance and stop the source when it is crossed. Our lead generation agency page compares owned and bought leads across industries.

Window contractor leads and speed to lead

Whatever the source, the company that calls first and politely wins more appointments. Route web leads to a phone within a minute, set a missed-call text with a booking link, and measure the median time to first contact every week.

SEO for window companies: pages, profiles and photos that win local searches

Window and door SEO means a profile for each branch, a page for each service and the towns you cover, product pages that answer buyer questions, and photos of real installs. Done well, it produces the cheapest appointments a window company gets.

Window and door seo pages and what each must carry
PageWhat it answersWhat it must carry
Window replacement by townDo you install here, and what does it cost here?Real local jobs, permit notes, a price range, reviews from that town

Energy-efficient windowsWill new windows lower my bills?NFRC ratings explained, zone guidance, no promised savings figure

Window replacement seo for each town you serve

One strong page per service area beats dozens of near-copies. Each town page should show jobs finished there, local permit or historic-district notes, a price range and reviews from neighbors. Our local SEO services cover the profile and citation work around those pages.

Window installer local seo and the Google Business Profile

The maps profile is where many local window searches end. Google’s Business Profile guidelines say a service-area business should hide its address if it does not serve customers there, so a contractor working from a yard sets service areas instead, while a showroom shows its address. Add real install photos weekly and answer every review.

Window contractor seo for product questions

Homeowners ask whether fiberglass is worth it, how long vinyl lasts and whether triple pane pays off in their climate. A page that answers honestly, with a price range and the trade-offs, earns links, AI citations and calls. Our SEO services page sets out how we run the full program.

Window installer seo for showrooms and dealers

A showroom page should carry hours, parking, the brands and lines on display, a booking link for a visit and photos of the floor. Dealers in a manufacturer network should keep their own local pages rather than relying on the maker’s locator.

Window replacement advertising: Google Ads, Local Services Ads and Meta

Paid search catches homeowners who are ready now, and paid social reaches those who will be ready soon. Both need call tracking, a matching landing page and negative keywords, or they buy clicks from job seekers and do-it-yourself researchers.

Window replacement ppc that targets buyers

Build campaigns around replacement intent: the service, the material, the style and the town. Keep do-it-yourself, repair parts, jobs and lead paint safety searches out with negative keywords, and send each ad to a page about the thing searched. Our search engine advertising page covers account structure in depth.

Window company google ads and call tracking

Many window appointments are booked by phone. Use a tracking number on the site and in ads, record calls with notice where your state requires it, and import booked appointments back into Google Ads so bidding learns from bookings, not clicks.

Local Services Ads for window companies

Google’s list of Local Services Ads categories includes window repair services, and advertisers pay for leads rather than clicks. Check which of your job types the category covers in your area before counting on it, and dispute leads that are not real inquiries.

Window replacement ads and window company facebook ads

Short install videos, before-and-after photos of a home’s exterior and a clear offer of a written quote work best. Retarget people who viewed price pages, and use lead forms only with a qualifying question or two so the sales team is not chasing accidental taps. See our Facebook ads agency page for setup.

Window and door advertising offline

Window company advertising is not only digital. Yard signs at every install, truck wraps, direct mail to streets of similar homes near recent jobs and home shows still work, especially for full-house replacement. Give each piece its own phone number or short web address so it can be measured.

The website and the quote funnel: where window leads are won or lost

The site’s job is to turn a curious homeowner into a booked appointment. That takes a price range, a short quote form, online booking, plain warranty and financing pages and proof that real crews do real installs nearby.

Range: A published price range. Per window, by material and style.
Count: A window-count quote form. Photos optional, two minutes.
Book: Online appointment booking. Real slots from the calendar.
Finance: Financing explained plainly. Terms shown where rules require.
Warranty: Warranty terms in writing. Whose lifetime, what is covered.
Lead-safe: Pre-1978 homes handled right. Certified firm, lead-safe practices.

Should a window company publish its prices?

Yes, as a range. Homeowners in a category they distrust treat a published range per window, by material and style, as a sign of honesty, and the ones who book after reading it have already accepted the ballpark. A written quote still follows the measure.

Window replacement website forms that homeowners finish

Ask for the number of windows, the rough type, the town and a contact method; make photos optional. Offer a calendar with real measure slots, confirm by text with consent, and say how long the visit takes. Our lead generation websites page covers form design in general.

Window company website design and speed

Many window searches happen on phones. Pages should load fast, put the phone number and booking button in reach of a thumb and carry real photos rather than stock. Our contractor website design team builds these sites, and home services website design covers sites for the wider trades.

Can we advertise energy savings, ENERGY STAR, warranties and Made in USA?

Yes, but only claims you can back up, with the conditions stated beside them. Window advertising has drawn federal enforcement over unsupported savings claims, so we build every energy, warranty and origin claim from the product’s own documents.

Bar chart of ENERGY STAR maximum U-factor for residential windows: Northern zone 0.22, North-Central 0.25, South-Central 0.28 and Southern 0.32.Bar chart of ENERGY STAR maximum U-factor for residential windows: Northern zone 0.22, North-Central 0.25, South-Central 0.28 and Southern 0.32.
ENERGY STAR certification criteria for residential windows by climate zone; air leakage must also be 0.3 cfm per square foot or less.

Energy savings claims need a reasonable basis

In 2012 the FTC approved final orders against five replacement window sellers over energy efficiency and cost savings claims it said were overstated. We avoid promised percentage savings and instead explain the product’s NFRC ratings and what they mean in the buyer’s climate.

The NFRC label and ENERGY STAR certification

The NFRC label rates a window for U-factor, solar heat gain coefficient, visible transmittance, condensation resistance and air leakage. ENERGY STAR criteria for windows vary by climate zone and rest on NFRC-certified ratings, so a product page should name the zone it qualifies for.

Using the ENERGY STAR name and mark

ENERGY STAR’s brand guidelines say the marks may never be associated with products that are not certified, and the name may not appear in a company name, logo, website title or domain name. Using the marks requires an active partnership, so check your status before adding them to ads.

Is the federal tax credit still available for new windows?

Not for new installs. The IRS says its energy efficient home improvement credit can be claimed for improvements made through December 31, 2025, so window ads now should not promise a federal credit. State and utility incentives may still exist; name the program and link its terms.

Lifetime warranty wording

The FTC’s guide on lifetime representations says an ad that calls a warranty lifetime should disclose the life it refers to: the homeowner’s, the product’s or the time the original buyer owns the house. Its warranty advertising guide also asks that buyers can see the written terms before they buy.

Made in USA claims

Under the FTC’s Made in USA labeling rule, a product labeled Made in the United States needs final assembly or processing here, all significant processing here and all or virtually all components made and sourced here. If the glass or hardware is imported, qualify the claim or leave it out.

Lead-safe work, the Cooling-Off Rule and other rules that shape window marketing

Several federal rules touch how windows are sold, not just how they are installed. We build campaigns inside these rules and ask your counsel to confirm anything specific to your state; this is not legal advice.

Lead-safe certification for pre-1978 homes

EPA’s Renovation, Repair and Painting program says window replacement in pre-1978 housing is always covered, and that firms, even sole proprietorships, need certification. The rule text says no firm may perform, offer, or claim to perform renovations in covered housing without it, so the certification belongs on the site and in ads aimed at older neighborhoods.

The Renovate Right pamphlet

Before work in a pre-1978 home, the firm must give the owner EPA’s pamphlet no more than 60 days before starting and keep proof of delivery. Mentioning it in the booking confirmation shows the homeowner the company knows the rule.

The FTC Cooling-Off Rule for in-home sales

For a door-to-door sale of $25 or more made at the buyer’s home, the FTC’s Cooling-Off Rule requires the seller to tell the buyer they may cancel until midnight of the third business day and to provide cancellation forms. Ads that pressure same-night signing sit badly next to that right, which is one more reason to drop countdown discounts.

Calling and texting leads

FCC rules require prior express written consent before autodialed or prerecorded telemarketing calls to covered numbers, including mobile phones. Your own forms should collect consent in plain words; for bought leads, confirm the consent names your company. Our SMS marketing agency page covers text programs.

Financing ads

Under Regulation Z, an ad that states a triggering credit term such as a monthly payment, a down payment or the number of payments must also state the down payment, repayment terms and annual percentage rate. Work the lender’s approved wording into every financing ad.

Reviews and reputation for window and door contractors

Reviews are the first proof a homeowner looks for, so the request system matters as much as the work. Ask every customer, make it easy, and answer every review in your own voice.

Ask everyone, not only happy customers

Google’s review policy bars selectively soliciting positive reviews and offering incentives for reviews. The FTC’s rule on review suppression also bars presenting displayed reviews as all or most reviews when negative ones have been held back because of their rating.

Never write or buy reviews

The FTC rule bans businesses from creating or selling fake reviews that misrepresent who wrote them or their experience. Real reviews from named towns and projects are more persuasive anyway.

Turning reviews into marketing

Show the town, product and month next to each review on the site, add photos of the finished job with permission and answer complaints with what was done to fix the problem. A calm reply to a bad review often persuades more than ten good ones.

Window marketing ideas that window installers can start this month

The best ideas are the ones you can measure: each gets its own phone number, link or code. These are the ones we see pay back most reliably for window and door companies.

  • Put a yard sign on every install for two weeks, with a short web address tied to that street
  • Mail the twenty homes nearest each finished job with a photo of the neighbor’s new windows
  • Publish a price range page and link it from every ad and email
  • Film a sixty-second install for each product line and post it on the maps profile
  • Send a review request the day after install and a referral thank-you a month later
  • Follow up every unsigned quote at three days, two weeks and two months
  • Offer weekend and evening measure slots and say so in the ads
  • Add a storm door or patio door offer to past window customers each spring
  • Write one honest comparison page per quarter: vinyl versus fiberglass, double versus triple pane
  • Run a home-show booth only with a booking tablet and a tracked offer

Siding and window marketing

Contractors who sell both should market them as separate services with their own pages and ads, then cross-sell after the first project. Bundled pages confuse search engines and homeowners alike. Roofing contractors who add windows can see our roofing marketing agency page for the roof side.

Window showroom marketing

A showroom is a reason to visit: invite homeowners to touch the frames, test the locks and compare glass. Promote showroom hours on the maps profile, run local ads that offer a showroom visit instead of an in-home pitch and track visits with a booking link.

Marketing windows and doors together

Window and door company marketing works best as one brand with two product stories. Doors sell well to window customers, and window customers trust the company that fitted their front door. Keep door pages distinct, show door installs in the gallery and add a door offer to the follow-up sequence.

AI answers: how homeowners ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Copilot about window companies

Homeowners now ask AI assistants which window company to hire in their town, what replacement windows cost and whether a material is worth it. The assistants answer from pages they can read and trust, so the company that publishes clear, specific answers gets named.

What AI assistants tend to read for window questions, and what to publish
Question homeowners askWhat assistants tend to draw onWhat the window company should publish

Are triple pane windows worth itPages explaining ratings by climateA page tying NFRC ratings to your climate zone
Who installs windows in older homes safelyPages naming certificationLead-safe certification and a pre-1978 home page

Be specific enough to quote

AI assistants quote sentences that answer a question in one go: a price range with its conditions, a warranty with its terms, a service area with its towns. Vague claims such as best quality or unbeatable prices give them nothing to repeat.

Keep facts consistent everywhere

Name, phone, service area, license number and warranty terms should match on the site, the maps profile and every directory. Our AEO for home services page covers AI visibility for the trades in more depth.

How to measure window and door marketing: cost per project sold

Track every lead from first click or call to signed contract, then divide spend by projects sold for each source. Cost per lead alone flatters the sources that produce the most tire-kickers.

How long before judging a marketing change?

At least four weeks, and ideally a full quarter. Window projects take weeks from first contact to contract, so a change judged after ten days is judged on leads that have not had time to close.

Will dropping countdown discounts reduce sales?

It can lower the close rate at the first appointment, because some buyers sign under pressure. It often lowers cost per project sold over a quarter, because more homeowners agree to book once they believe the visit will be fair. Test it in one territory first and compare the full quarter.

Are window companies profitable to market?

Profit depends on the business, not on the channel. What marketing can show is the cost to sell one project by source; compare that with your margin on an average project and the answer for each channel becomes obvious.

A 90-day window company marketing plan

Window replacement marketing follows a simple order: fix tracking first, then the funnel, then add reach. Spending more before the funnel works only buys more of the same losses.

Timeline of a 90-day window company marketing program from tracking setup through the quote funnel, pages and paid tests, cutting weak sources and a day-90 review.Timeline of a 90-day window company marketing program from tracking setup through the quote funnel, pages and paid tests, cutting weak sources and a day-90 review.

Weeks one to four: measure and repair

Install call tracking and form tracking, add lead stages to the CRM, audit the profile and site, publish a price range, shorten the quote form and switch on online booking with text confirmation.

Weeks five to eight: build and test

Publish product and town pages, start a tightly matched Google Ads campaign with negatives, launch a review request flow and a follow-up sequence for unsigned quotes.

Weeks nine to twelve: cut and scale

Compare cost per project sold by source, cut the weakest, move budget to the strongest and plan the next quarter’s pages and tests.

Window replacement lead cost

There is no single figure: the cost of a lead depends on the town, the season, the channel and the landing page. Read it beside the booking and close rates; a cheap lead that never books is the most expensive one you buy.

What drives the total budget

Window installation marketing budgets depend on the number of territories, how competitive each is, whether a new site is needed and how much ad spend the sales team can handle. See SEO services pricing and social media marketing pricing for the details behind each figure; every quote follows a written scope.

How to choose a window and door marketing agency

Choose the one that reports cost per project sold, owns nothing you cannot take with you and knows the rules that shape window sales. A window company marketing agency should be able to show how it will measure success before it asks for a budget.

Frequently asked questions

What is window company marketing?
Window company marketing is the mix of search, maps, paid ads, reviews, a quote funnel and follow-up that brings homeowners to a measure appointment with a window and door company and turns those appointments into signed projects. It is judged by cost per project sold rather than by the number of leads.
How do I get window replacement leads?
Complete a Google Business Profile for each branch, publish a price range and product pages, run tightly matched Google Ads with call tracking, ask every customer for a review and follow up every quote. Bought leads can add volume, but leads you generate yourself are exclusive and usually cost less per signed project once the channels mature.
Which channels does a window and door marketing agency run?
It plans and runs the channels that produce appointments: local search and maps, paid search and social, the website and quote form, review requests and follow-up email and text. A good one also connects each lead to the CRM so you can see which source produced signed projects and cut the rest.
Where should a window installation business start its marketing?
Start with tracking and a quote funnel that books appointments, then build the maps profile and town pages, add paid search for immediate demand and ask every customer for a review. Measure cost per project sold by source each month and move money toward whatever signs projects most cheaply.
Should a window company buy leads?
Bought leads suit a company that needs volume now and calls back within minutes. Shared leads go to several rivals, so the first caller usually wins. Set a cost per project ceiling before buying, check that consent to call names your company and keep building owned sources so the share of bought leads falls.
How much does a window replacement lead cost?
It varies by town, season, channel and the quality of the landing page, so any single figure misleads. Judge leads by cost per booked appointment and cost per project sold instead. A cheaper lead that rarely books costs more than a pricier one that usually does.
Should we publish window prices on our website?
Publish a range per window by material and style, with what changes the price. In a category homeowners distrust, a range is one of the strongest signs of honesty, and people who book after seeing it are less likely to walk away at the quote. The measured quote still sets the final price.
Can we advertise energy savings on replacement windows?
Only with a reasonable basis and the conditions stated. The FTC has acted against window sellers for overstated savings claims. Explain the product’s NFRC ratings and what they mean in the buyer’s climate zone rather than promising a percentage cut in bills.
Can we say our windows are ENERGY STAR certified?
Only for products certified for the climate zone where you sell them. Using the ENERGY STAR marks requires an active partnership, the marks may never sit beside uncertified products and the name may not appear in your company name, logo, site title or domain.
Is the federal energy tax credit available for new windows in 2026?
No. The IRS says the energy efficient home improvement credit can be claimed for improvements made through December 31, 2025. Window ads for installs after that date should not promise the federal credit. State or utility programs may still apply, so name the program and link its terms.
How should we advertise a lifetime warranty?
State whose lifetime it means, such as the original homeowner’s or the product’s, and what the warranty covers, right beside the claim. The FTC’s warranty guides also ask that buyers can see the written warranty before they buy, so link the full terms from every ad that mentions it.
Can we say our windows are made in the USA?
Only if final assembly and all significant processing happen in the United States and all or virtually all components are made and sourced here. If glass, frames or hardware are imported, qualify the claim with where parts come from or leave it out.
Do window companies need lead-safe certification to advertise?
Yes, for work in pre-1978 homes and child-occupied facilities. EPA’s rule says no firm may perform, offer or claim to perform covered renovations without certification, and window replacement is always covered. Show the certification on the site and mention lead-safe practices on older-home pages.
Can a homeowner cancel a window contract signed at the kitchen table?
It applies to door-to-door sales of $25 or more made at the buyer’s home, which covers many in-home window sales. The buyer may cancel until midnight of the third business day and must be given notice and cancellation forms. Confirm details with counsel for your contracts.
Can we text window leads?
Text and call only with consent that covers your company. FCC rules require prior express written consent for autodialed or prerecorded telemarketing to mobile numbers. Collect it on your own forms in plain words, and for bought leads ask the seller to prove the consent names you.
Why do window leads not book appointments?
Most fear a long, high-pressure in-home sale. Say how long the visit takes, that the quote is left in writing and that there is no sign-tonight discount. Offer real slots online, call within minutes and confirm by text, and booking rates usually rise.
What is a good close rate for window appointments?
There is no universal benchmark, because it depends on lead source, price point and sales process. Track your own close rate by source and by consultant each month; the useful comparison is between your sources and your quarters, not against a figure from another market.
When do window and door SEO pages start bringing calls?
Profile and review gains can show within weeks, town and product pages usually take three to six months to rank, and a competitive metro can take six to twelve months. Paid search fills the calendar while those pages mature.
Are Google Local Services Ads open to window businesses?
They can, where your category is eligible. Google lists window repair services among Local Services Ads categories and charges per lead rather than per click. Check which job types the category covers in your area, and dispute leads that are not real project inquiries.
Should window installers use Facebook ads?
Yes, for reach before homeowners start searching. Short install videos, exterior before-and-after photos and a clear offer of a written quote work best. Retarget visitors to price pages, and add a qualifying question to lead forms so the sales team is not chasing accidental taps.
What is the right way to ask window customers for reviews?
Ask every customer the day after install, with a direct link and no reward. Google bars incentives and selective requests, and the FTC bars fake reviews and hiding negative ones. Answer every review, especially complaints, with what you did to fix the issue.
Is window company marketing different from roofing or siding marketing?
Yes. Window buyers compare more quotes, care about energy ratings and warranty terms and often worry about pressure selling. Siding and window contractors should run each service on its own pages and ads, then cross-sell after the first project.
How should window companies measure marketing results?
Tag every lead with its source and follow it through booked, held and signed stages in the CRM. Divide spend by projects sold for each source each month. Judge changes over a quarter, because window projects take weeks to close.
How do we choose a window company marketing agency?
Pick one that reports to signed projects, keeps every account in your name, understands lead-safe, cooling-off and consent rules and can say what it would cut first. Avoid guarantees of appointments or rankings and agencies that resell the same leads to your rivals.
