A Webflow SEO agency improves how a site built in Webflow is crawled, indexed, ranked and cited by AI assistants, working inside Webflow’s own settings instead of around them. Progression’s Webflow SEO services cover the audit, CMS collection templates, 301 redirects, sitemap and indexing controls, schema, Localization and the content that brings in qualified buyers, for SaaS, B2B and startup marketing teams and for agencies that build on Webflow. Progression Agency is based in New York City and works with clients across the United States and worldwide.

The short answerWebflow gives you strong SEO controls without plugins: field-based metadata, an automatic sitemap, a redirect manager, schema tools and Localization. What it cannot do is choose your keywords, structure your collections well or write pages worth citing. We audit the site, fix templates and redirects, then build content by intent and report inquiries and AI citations, not just rankings. Retainers start at $1,500 a month and a one-off technical audit starts from $1,900.
Prices are Progression’s published SEO retainers, one-off project prices and fixed website prices. Webflow features are described as Webflow publishes them; platform features change, so we confirm them on each engagement.
What does a Webflow SEO agency do?
It makes a Webflow site easier for search engines and AI assistants to find, understand and recommend. Half the work is inside Webflow’s settings and templates; the other half is research, content and links that no platform does for you.
Work inside Webflow
Collection template title and meta patterns, slugs, the redirect manager, sitemap and indexing settings, schema on page and collection templates, image alt text, locale settings and page weight. These are the controls a Webflow SEO specialist adjusts first, because one template fix can improve hundreds of pages at once.
Work outside Webflow
Keyword and intent research, the page plan, writing and refreshing content, internal links, digital PR, Search Console and analytics. The platform hosts the result; it does not decide what to say or which questions to answer.
Who we do it for
SaaS and B2B marketing teams, startups whose site runs on Webflow, Enterprise and Localization users with several markets, and design studios that build in Webflow and want a search partner after launch. Our Webflow development team handles builds and redesigns; this page covers SEO for Webflow sites that are live or about to be.
Is Webflow good for SEO? What it handles and what it leaves to you
Yes. Webflow’s SEO feature page describes control over metadata, indexing rules and redirects without plugins, an automatically generated XML sitemap, schema tools and clean semantic HTML with SSL on every site. The platform is rarely the reason a Webflow site underperforms; setup and content usually are.
What Webflow handles
Webflow says it can define meta titles and descriptions automatically from CMS fields, generate an XML sitemap, create and publish 301 redirects, manage robots.txt rules and page URLs, and generate or edit schema markup and alt text with Webflow AI. Its hosting runs on AWS, which Webflow describes as spread across more than 100 data centers.
What it leaves to you
Which keywords each page targets, how collections are structured, whether two pages compete for the same query, what the copy says, how pages link to each other and whether anyone outside your site links in. Those decisions decide rankings far more than any setting.
Webflow against other platforms
We do not restate platform comparisons here. Our Webflow vs WordPress guide covers that choice, and Framer vs Webflow and Wix vs Webflow cover the others.
| Area | What Webflow provides | What we add |
|---|---|---|
| Metadata | Title and description fields, patterns from CMS fields | The keyword map and the wording for each template |
| Sitemap | An automatically generated XML sitemap | Decisions on which pages to exclude, and Search Console checks |
| Redirects | A 301 redirect manager, including bulk management | The redirect map and testing before launch |
| Schema | Schema markup generated with Webflow AI or added by hand | Types chosen per template, matched to visible text |
| Localization | Locale subdirectories, localized metadata, hreflang handling | Market research and content per locale |
| Content | A visual CMS with SEO fields | Research, briefs, writing, refreshes and internal links |
| Measurement | Webflow’s Analyze and Optimize products | Search Console, analytics and inquiry reporting |
What should a Webflow SEO audit cover?
A Webflow SEO audit checks crawling and indexing, templates, redirects, structured data, speed and content against the queries the business needs. It ends with a ranked fix list that names pages and templates, not a tool export.
Crawl and index
We crawl the live site and compare it with the sitemap and Search Console’s indexed pages. Typical findings are staging copies visible to search, utility pages in the sitemap, and collection items that should not be indexed at all.
Templates and collections
Each collection template is checked for its title and meta pattern, heading structure, slug rules and whether its items have enough unique content to deserve their own URL. One weak template can create hundreds of near-duplicate pages.
Redirects and history
We compare old URLs from analytics, backlinks and previous crawls with the redirect list. Missing 301s after a redesign are the most common cause of lost traffic we find on Webflow sites.
Speed and page weight
Webflow sites built for visual impact often carry large hero videos, several font families and third-party scripts. We measure Core Web Vitals in field data where it exists and list the specific assets to compress, defer or remove.
Content and intent
Every important page is matched to one search intent. Where two pages chase the same query, we recommend a merge, a split or a clearer focus, so the site stops competing with itself.
Our SEO audit service page explains how we audit any site; on Webflow sites we add the template, redirect and locale checks above. A one-off technical audit starts from $1,900.
A Webflow SEO checklist for launch and every quarter
Use this Webflow SEO checklist before launch and again each quarter. It covers the settings and habits that keep a site clean as the marketing team publishes.
- Keep staging copies of the site out of search results
- Write a title and description pattern for every collection template
- Set slugs that read as words, with no dates or ID numbers unless they add meaning
- Exclude thank-you, legal duplicates, filters and test pages from the sitemap
- Mark pages that should never rank as noindex
- List every retired URL and give it a 301 to its closest live match
- Check that redirects do not chain through two or more hops
- Add structured data to templates and confirm it matches what visitors see
- Fill alt text on every meaningful image, and leave decorative images empty
- Compress images and serve modern formats where the build supports them
- Limit font families and weights to what the design uses
- Load chat widgets and tag managers after the main content
- Give each locale its own title, description and Open Graph settings
- Link every collection item to its parent hub and two related items
- Use one H1 per page that names the page’s subject
- Submit the sitemap in Search Console and review indexing monthly
- Review pages with falling clicks each quarter: update, merge or retire
- Record every change with the date, so reporting can explain movement
Webflow SEO best practices that matter most
If a team only does three things, they should be field-based metadata patterns on every collection template, a redirect for every retired URL, and one clear purpose per page. Those three prevent most of the problems we are asked to fix later.
A Webflow SEO guide for the marketing team
We hand over a short written guide with each engagement: how to fill SEO fields on a new collection item, when to add a redirect, how to name images, and which pages to check before publishing. Editors keep the site healthy between our reviews.
Webflow technical SEO: settings, templates and speed
Webflow technical SEO is mostly about using the platform’s controls consistently across templates. The settings exist; the results come from how each one is filled in.
CMS collection templates: titles, meta and slugs
Webflow says it can automatically define meta titles and descriptions from CMS fields. We write the pattern for each template, add dedicated SEO fields where the generic pattern is too blunt, and set slug rules before items are imported. That is the core of webflow cms seo, and it scales to every item in the collection.
Webflow 301 redirects
Webflow describes creating and publishing 301 redirects with no engineering help, and bulk redirect management for larger sites. We build the redirect list from old URLs, test each one, remove chains and keep a record of why each redirect exists.
Webflow sitemap and exclusions
Webflow can auto-generate an XML sitemap so search engines can find and crawl pages. The judgment is what to leave out: thin collection items, thank-you pages and duplicates should be excluded and, where they should never rank, set to noindex.
Robots.txt and indexing controls
Webflow lets you set robots.txt rules and control page URLs without code. We use robots.txt for crawl control, not for hiding pages from results, since a blocked page can still be indexed from links; noindex handles that.
Webflow schema markup
Webflow says schema can be generated with Webflow AI, added by hand and edited. We choose types per template, such as Organization, Article, Product, FAQPage or BreadcrumbList, fill them from CMS fields where possible, and check that the markup matches the visible page, which Google also recommends.
Images, fonts and scripts
Webflow can generate missing alt text with Webflow AI, but generated text still needs a human check. Speed work focuses on hero media, font files, interaction libraries and third-party scripts, the four usual sources of slow Webflow pages.
Webflow core web vitals
Google’s Core Web Vitals guidance sets good thresholds of Largest Contentful Paint within 2.5 seconds, Interaction to Next Paint of 200 milliseconds or less and Cumulative Layout Shift of 0.1 or less, measured at the 75th percentile of page loads. We report those numbers by template, because a fix to one template moves every page built on it.
| Setting | What we look for | Typical fix |
|---|---|---|
| Collection template SEO pattern | Generic titles repeated across items | Field-based pattern plus a custom SEO title field |
| Slugs | IDs, dates or duplicated words | Readable rules set before import |
| 301 redirects | Missing or chained redirects | One hop to the closest live page |
| Sitemap | Thin items and utility pages listed | Exclude and noindex where needed |
| Robots.txt | Rules that block assets or whole folders | Allow rendering resources; block only crawl waste |
| Schema | Markup that does not match visible text | Template markup filled from fields |
| Locales | Untranslated metadata | Localized title, description and Open Graph per locale |
| Page weight | Large video, many fonts, early scripts | Compress, subset, defer |

Webflow Localization and international SEO
Webflow’s Localization gives each locale a customizable subdirectory and lets you localize meta titles, descriptions and Open Graph settings per page. Webflow states that its localization tools handle hreflang tags automatically.
Locale structure
Subdirectories keep each language on the main domain. We decide which markets get a locale, whether a market needs its own content or a translation, and which pages stay in draft in a locale until they are ready.
Translation is not localization for search
Webflow offers AI and manual translation and integrations with translation management systems. Search demand differs by market, so we research each locale’s queries before translating, and adjust headings and examples to the way buyers there search.
Collections across locales
Webflow notes that collection items can be linked across locales with CSV import. We map items so each locale’s version points to the right counterparts, which keeps hreflang and internal links consistent. Our international SEO page covers the market research side.
Webflow blog SEO and collection pages that rank
Content on Webflow lives in collections. Webflow blog SEO and collection landing pages work when each item answers one intent better than the pages already ranking for it.
Blog posts by intent
We build a keyword map that assigns one primary intent to each post, then brief writers with the questions to answer, the examples to use and the internal links to add. Webflow SEO keywords should come from that map, not from the post title alone.
Webflow programmatic SEO without thin pages
Webflow programmatic SEO uses a collection to publish many pages from structured data, such as integrations, locations or use cases. It works only when every page has something unique: real data, specific examples or a distinct answer. Where items would be near-duplicates, we combine them into one stronger page.
Internal links by template
Templates can carry related items, breadcrumbs and hub links automatically. That gives every new item links the day it publishes, instead of waiting for someone to add them by hand.
Our content marketing team writes the pages; the same briefs and review process apply on Webflow as on any other platform.
Migrating to Webflow without losing rankings
A migration keeps its traffic when every old URL is mapped, redirected and tested before the switch, and when the new templates carry the content that earned rankings. Design and build sit with our development team; the search plan sits with us.
The redirect map is the deliverable
Every URL from the old site gets a row: keep, merge or retire, and its Webflow destination. Our Webflow development agency page describes how migrations from WordPress, Wix, Squarespace and HubSpot are built, and website migration services covers the wider process.
Content parity
Pages that rank keep their headings, key paragraphs and internal links through the move. A redesign that trims copy to make a layout cleaner can remove exactly the text that ranked.
The eight weeks after launch
We watch Search Console for crawl errors and indexing changes, compare traffic by template with the old site and fix broken redirects within days. Migration support with redirect mapping starts from $3,200 as a one-off project.
Webflow AEO and AI search
Webflow AEO means making a Webflow site easy for ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, Copilot and Google AI Overviews to quote and link. Google says there are no additional requirements or special optimizations needed to appear in its AI features; clear, indexable pages with good answers are the base.
How buyers ask assistants for a Webflow SEO partner
Marketing leads ask for the best webflow seo agency for a SaaS company, who can fix SEO after a Webflow migration, or how to add schema in Webflow. Assistants answer with a short list and the reasons, drawn from pages that state services, prices and methods plainly.
What assistants tend to cite
Pages with direct answers under question headings, comparison and pricing tables, documentation from the platform itself, and independent reviews and directories. Vague capability pages without specifics are rarely quoted.
Webflow’s own AEO product
Webflow’s AEO page says AEO agents are available to customers on an Enterprise Site plan, with AEO analytics in the latest version of Analyze for Enterprise, and that it tracks which external sites are cited in AI answers for chosen prompts. We work alongside it on Enterprise sites and without it on every other plan.
What to publish so you get named
A services page with real deliverables and prices, FAQ answers buyers can quote, comparison pages that are fair, and case material you are allowed to share. Our AEO services page sets out the full method, and how to rank in ChatGPT covers one assistant in depth.
Does Webflow need an SEO app or plugin?
Usually not. Webflow’s built-in controls cover metadata, sitemaps, redirects, schema and alt text, so a webflow seo app is an extra, not a requirement.
When does a Webflow app help?
Webflow Apps can help with bulk editing, audits or translation workflows on large sites. We check what an app changes in the published code before recommending it, and we do not rank or endorse apps on this page.
Testing and personalization
Webflow’s Optimize product runs A/B tests and personalization. Tests on headings and copy should be planned with search in mind, so the version Google indexes stays stable. Our conversion rate optimization team sets that up.
Tools we use alongside Webflow
Search Console, analytics, a crawler and a rank and AI citation tracker. The tools are inexpensive; the judgment about which issues matter is the service.
Webflow SEO expert, consultant, specialist, freelancer or agency?
The right choice depends on how much work there is and who will do it. A webflow seo consultant advises your team, a webflow seo freelancer or specialist does focused tasks, and an agency covers technical work, content and reporting together.
| Option | Best for | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Webflow SEO expert or consultant | A team that will do the work and needs direction | Advice without capacity to carry it out |
| Webflow SEO specialist | A defined technical task such as a redirect map | Narrow scope; content and links left open |
| Webflow SEO freelancer | Small sites with a steady, modest backlog | Availability and cover during absences |
| Webflow SEO company or agency | Sites that need technical, content and reporting together | Junior staff on senior proposals |
| In-house hire | Large sites with daily publishing | One person rarely covers every skill |
What should a Webflow SEO company show you?
Specific findings from a real audit, a sample keyword map, the reporting format and named people who will do the work. Ask how they handle collection templates and redirects; the answer shows quickly whether they know the platform.
Badges and certifications
Platform programs and course certificates confirm familiarity with the tools. They do not show whether someone can decide what to write or which fix matters first, so judge by the work.
How to choose a Webflow SEO agency
Choose the team that explains your site’s problems in specific terms, prices the work in writing and reports inquiries, not just positions. Compare every candidate against the same requirements.
| Requirement | How to check it |
|---|---|
| Knows Webflow collections | Ask how they would set title and meta patterns on your largest template |
| Handles redirects properly | Ask for a sample redirect map and how they test it |
| Uses schema carefully | Ask which types they would add and how they match visible text |
| Plans content by intent | Ask for a keyword map sample with one intent per URL |
| Covers AI search | Ask how they track citations in AI assistants |
| Prices in writing | Ask for retainer tiers and one-off prices before a call |
| Reports business results | Ask for a sample monthly report with inquiries |
| Makes no ranking guarantees | Treat any guarantee as a warning |
Questions for the first call
What would you fix first on our site and why? How do you work with our developers or Webflow studio? What changes do you publish yourselves? How do you decide when a page should be merged? Clear answers to these beat a long tool list.
Fit with your segment
SaaS sites need product, integration and comparison pages; enterprise sites need governance across teams and locales. Our SaaS SEO agency and enterprise SEO agency pages cover those programs in depth.
How much does a Webflow SEO agency cost?
Progression’s Webflow SEO retainers follow our published SEO tiers, from $1,500 to $2,500 a month for a small local business up to $10,000 a month and more at enterprise scale. One-off projects have fixed starting prices.
| Work | Price | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Retainer, small | $1,500 to $2,500 a month | Local business, one or two service areas |
| Retainer, mid | $2,500 to $5,000 a month | Competitive local or regional markets |
| Retainer, large | $5,000 to $10,000 a month | National terms, large sites |
| Retainer, enterprise | $10,000+ a month | Multi-market or multi-site, often with Localization |
| Technical SEO audit | From $1,900 | One-off; the Webflow SEO audit described above |
| Keyword research and mapping | From $1,200 | One-off; one intent per URL |
| Migration support with redirect mapping | From $3,200 | One-off; for moves to Webflow |
| Analytics and conversion tracking implementation | From $2,400 | One-off |
| Initial audit | Free initial audit: $0 | A starting review before any proposal |
Retainers come from our SEO services page, which notes that we do not work below about $1,500 a month; one-off prices come from SEO services pricing. Where a site needs template or design work, our website design and development fixed prices apply, such as a restyle in place from $4,800 or a single landing page from $1,400. Every engagement is confirmed in a written scope, and we do not guarantee rankings, traffic or inquiries.
What moves the price
The number of collections and items, the number of locales, how much content the plan needs each month, and whether a migration is in progress. A 40-page startup site and a localized enterprise site with thousands of items are very different scopes.
Moving to Webflow and worried about the old URLs?Share your current platform, page count and launch date. You get a free proposal for the redirect map and the post-launch watch, with a written scope.
How a Webflow SEO engagement runs
Month one is the audit and keyword map; month two publishes technical fixes; from month three content carries most of the work. SEO for Webflow sites follows the same rhythm as any site, with faster publishing because editors can push changes themselves.
Who publishes the changes on the site?
Depending on access, we publish SEO settings and redirects ourselves or hand your team exact instructions. Design changes go through your designer or our development team, so the site’s class system stays clean.
Reporting
Each month you see clicks and impressions by template from Search Console, inquiries by landing page from analytics, AI citations for the questions that matter, and a dated log of every change we made.
