Pinterest Marketing Agency: Pinterest Marketing Services and Pinterest Ads for Ecommerce, Home, Food, Beauty and Fashion Brands

Updated October 2026 · Written and maintained by the Progression Agency strategy team

A Pinterest marketing agency plans, makes and runs a brand’s Pinterest presence: the boards and pins people save while they plan a purchase, and the paid campaigns that put products in front of them at the right moment. Our Pinterest marketing services cover strategy, pin and video creative, product catalogs and shopping campaigns, conversion tracking and the reporting a marketing lead needs to judge the spend. We work as a Pinterest ads agency and an organic team at once, for ecommerce, home and interiors, food, beauty, fashion, wedding and DIY brands. For search-led organic work on its own, see our Pinterest SEO services.

The short answerPinterest suits brands whose customers plan before they buy, and it pays back when a catalog, tracking and a steady run of creative are in place. The work has two levers: organic pins that build a bank of proven creative, and paid campaigns that put products in front of people who are planning. Start with a business account, a claimed site and a catalog, install tracking before spending, and run one small test with a stop rule. Judge results by orders, not saves. Management beyond our social packages is quoted after a written scope, and no result is promised.

What does a Pinterest marketing agency do?

It takes the strategy, creative, catalog, advertising and measurement for Pinterest off a brand’s plate and runs them as one program. People also ask what is a Pinterest agency; the short version is a team that treats Pinterest as a shopping and planning channel, not a place to post and hope.

Flow chart of eight steps in a Pinterest plan: business account and claimed site, catalog connected, board and creative plan, organic publishing, tag and conversions API, first ad test, read the results, then scale or stop.Flow chart of eight steps in a Pinterest plan: business account and claimed site, catalog connected, board and creative plan, organic publishing, tag and conversions API, first ad test, read the results, then scale or stop.
The order matters: tracking comes before ad money, and organic pins come before the ads that promote them.

Strategy across organic pins and paid campaigns

One plan covers both levers. Organic pins show which products and ideas earn saves and clicks, and paid campaigns put money behind the ones that do. The deeper organic side, including how Pinterest reads titles, descriptions and boards, has its own page: Pinterest SEO services.

Creative production for pins and video pins

Pins are images and videos made to be saved, so they need a clear subject, readable text and a destination page that matches. The agency writes the briefs, produces or edits the assets and keeps a library, so the account is never short of something to publish.

Catalogs, shopping campaigns and conversion tracking

For stores, the catalog turns every product into a shoppable pin, shopping campaigns promote those products as ads and tracking connects both to orders. These three pieces separate a brand that is merely present on Pinterest from one that can read its return.

What stays with the brand

The business account, the ad account and the billing belong to the brand. Pinterest asks an agency person who creates a business account for a client to use a professional email and their own name instead of the business name, which helps the account owner see who has access. Billing currency is set when the ad account is first opened in Ads Manager.

Is Pinterest good for marketing?

It is good for brands whose products are visual and planned: home, food, beauty, fashion, weddings, DIY and gifts. Is Pinterest good for business in general? Not always. Pinterest’s own business site describes it as a place where people discover ideas, plan and shop, and the platform is only as effective as the fit between that mindset and what you sell. Is Pinterest effective for a given brand? A small, tracked test answers that better than any general claim.

People use Pinterest to plan

Pinterest describes its audience as people who discover ideas, plan and shop. Planning takes time, which is why measurement has to follow a longer path than a single click. We quote no audience size here; Pinterest publishes its own current figures.

Products and categories that suit it

Home and interiors, food and recipes, beauty, fashion, weddings, DIY projects, travel planning and gifts are the usual strong fits. They share three traits: the product looks good in a picture, the buyer researches first, and there is a season or an event behind the purchase.

Where Pinterest rarely earns its budget

Most business-to-business offers, services someone needs today and products with no visual appeal tend to do better elsewhere. A plumber with a burst pipe and a buyer of industrial valves are not browsing ideas on a weekend. Say so early, and test cheaply if the case is unclear.

Pinterest marketing services: what the work includes

Pinterest marketing services cover the account, the creative, the calendar and the publishing, with advertising and tracking layered on top. The pieces below are the ones a brand should expect to see named in a written scope.

The six parts of the work

Six pieces make up most scopes. A brand may need all of them or only some, depending on whether it sells from a catalog.

Plan: Board and account plan. Boards built around how shoppers think about a project or a room, not around your internal product lines.
Creative: Pin and video creative. Product, lifestyle and how-to pins made in the sizes Pinterest recommends, with clear text on the image.
Catalog: Product catalog. Your products uploaded as product pins from a feed that stays current each day.
Shopping: Shopping campaigns. Catalog-based ads that carry price and availability, grouped by what you want to push.
Tracking: Conversion tracking. The Pinterest tag, the conversions API and tagged links, so orders trace back to a pin or an ad.
Calendar: Seasonal calendar. Creative made ahead of the weeks when your category gets searched.

Account setup, board plan and brand voice

A business account is free and unlocks ads and analytics, per Pinterest’s help page on business accounts. Claiming the website, which needs control of the domain and access to its code, is covered in Pinterest’s claim your website guide. Boards follow how shoppers think, and the voice stays close to the rest of the brand. Search-based optimization of titles and descriptions sits with our organic Pinterest optimization page.

Pin and video pin production

Product pins, lifestyle scenes, how-to videos and idea pins each serve a different stage of planning. A mix keeps the account useful and gives paid campaigns more creative to test. Our video production team handles longer or more produced footage.

Pinterest describes Pinterest Trends as a way to see what an audience is searching by interest, demographics and season. We use it to decide which products and ideas to prepare first, and we check it again before each peak.

How often should brands post on Pinterest?

As often as the team can keep up with good pins, and no more. Our guide on how often a business should post on social media holds the cadence numbers, and a Pinterest plan should follow the same principle.

Pinterest ads agency work: campaigns, catalogs and measurement

A Pinterest ads agency chooses the campaign objective, builds and checks the catalog, sets targeting and installs tracking. Pinterest advertising also needs a creative bank, so the ads and the organic account work from the same assets.

Choosing the campaign objective

Pinterest’s campaign objectives page lists brand awareness, video completion, consideration, leads and sales, and says the objective sets how you bid and which formats are available. Stores selling from a catalog usually test the sales objective first; a brand with a long consideration cycle may start with consideration.

Pinterest campaign objectives, as listed on its help page on October 28, 2026
ObjectiveWhat Pinterest says it doesWhen it fits
Brand awarenessHelps people discover your brand, products or other servicesA new brand or a new line with little name recognition
Video completionIncreases completed views of video adsStory-led video that needs to be watched through
ConsiderationIncreases pin clicks or outbound clicks on your adLonger research cycles, where visits come before orders
LeadsDrives actions on your website such as checkout, sign-up or add to cartOffers where the goal is a form or an account, not a catalog sale
SalesHelps people discover your products or services while searching for inspirationCatalog-based shopping campaigns

Catalog-based shopping campaigns

Shopping ads come from a product catalog, and Pinterest’s shopping ads guide names four types: standard, video, personalized collections and carousel. Before a catalog can be added, Pinterest’s catalog guide asks for a business account, a claimed website, the Pinterest tag and a site with easy-to-find contact details, shipping policy and refund policy. Our Shopify marketing and ecommerce marketing pages cover the store side.

  • A Pinterest business account
  • A claimed website
  • The Pinterest tag installed on the site
  • A site with easy-to-find contact details, a shipping policy and a refund policy
  • A product data source Pinterest can read each day, or a manual upload

Targeting by interest, keyword and audience

Pinterest’s targeting overview lists audiences built from customer lists, site visitors or people who engaged with your content, actalike audiences, interests, keywords, demographics and placement, plus Performance+ targeting. Sales campaigns do not need keyword or interest targeting. The agency picks the mix and keeps the audience from getting too narrow to learn from.

Conversion tracking with the Pinterest tag and Pinterest’s conversions API

The Pinterest tag is code on your site that lets Pinterest see what visitors do after an ad, and it can take up to 24 hours to show in Ads Manager. The conversions API sends events from websites, apps or offline sources and can be used alongside the tag. We install and test both before budget goes live.

How do Pinterest ads work?

Pinterest describes ads as regular pins that you pay to place where people are most likely to see them. You choose an objective, a budget and targeting, and the ad enters an auction. How does advertising on Pinterest work for a store? It works through a catalog, a campaign and a tag that reports orders.

Where do Pinterest ads show up?

According to Pinterest’s ads overview, promoted pins surface in a person’s home feed, in category feeds and in relevant search results, and the targeting tools also let you choose home feed, search or related pins as placements. Pinterest recommends testing all placements.

What do Pinterest ads look like?

They look like pins. Pinterest lists idea ads, video ads, carousels and collections ads as formats open to business accounts, and shopping ads add product detail from your catalog. Pins to be promoted must sit on your public boards, carry a destination link and avoid link shorteners.

How long do Pinterest ads take to work?

Pinterest’s pages give no single timeline, so we do not either. Wait for tracking to show in Ads Manager, then judge the campaign after it has enough conversions to read. Pulling an ad after a few days usually means judging noise.

Are Pinterest ads free?

No. A business account and organic pins cost nothing, and ads are paid out of a budget you set. Pinterest’s pages say the amount you pay depends on the budget and spend limits that you set for your campaigns.

  • Saved to your own business profile
  • Saved to a public board
  • Carry a destination link, with no link shortener in it or in the description
  • Not a third-party video or GIF
  • Follow Pinterest’s ad standards

Pinterest ads vs Facebook ads

Pinterest ads vs Facebook ads comes down to mindset: people on Pinterest are often looking for ideas to act on later, while ads on Facebook and Instagram interrupt a feed of friends and creators. Pinterest ads vs Meta ads is rarely either-or, because the two can feed one another.

Planning intent against feed attention

A shopper saving ideas for a kitchen remodel is gathering, not buying today. A shopper scrolling a social feed is not planning at all. Each calls for a different ad: inspiration and product detail on Pinterest, a fast offer and strong video on a feed. This is framing, not a performance claim.

Where Meta usually wins

Meta tends to win on retargeting scale, lead forms and broad reach, and it fits offers with a deadline. Our Facebook ads management and Instagram ads pages cover those platforms.

TikTok and Google in the same comparison

TikTok suits short video and awareness; Google Search suits buyers who already know what they want. The table adds both for context, and our TikTok ads and Google Ads vs Facebook Ads pages go deeper.

Use the grid to decide which platforms get a test, then let orders decide the budget.

Are Pinterest ads worth it?

They are worth testing when a brand sells visual products, has a clean catalog and can measure orders. Is marketing on Pinterest worth it for a store with none of those? Usually not yet, and the fix is to build them first.

When they pay off

Visual products, a catalog that stays current, demand that peaks in known seasons and tracking that reaches orders. When all four are in place, ads can scale proven pins.

When they do not

Products people do not plan for, no conversion tracking, a store that loads slowly on phones, or a catalog full of errors. Money spent on top of those problems mostly pays for the problems.

A first test with a stop rule

Set a budget you can lose, a length long enough to collect conversions and a single deciding number such as cost per order. A Pinterest agency worth hiring writes the stop rule before launch, and we do not promise a return on ad spend.

Does Pinterest marketing work for small businesses?

It can, if the products are visual and the owner can keep a small account fed. Is Pinterest good for small business owners who sell what people plan for, such as home goods, food or wedding services? Yes, often, and the cost of a test is low.

Small product brands and makers

A maker with a dozen products and a good camera can test Pinterest cheaply. The need is a steady run of pins and a store page that sells without extra explanation.

Etsy sellers

Pinterest says marketplace shops on sites like Etsy cannot be claimed as a website, so Etsy sellers need a different setup. Our Etsy SEO services and AEO for Etsy sellers pages cover that side.

Service businesses with a visual portfolio

Photographers, wedding planners and remodelers sell results people can see. Pins of finished work can lead to inquiries. See our photographer advertising, wedding planner marketing and remodeling marketing pages.

Pinterest for ecommerce, home, food, beauty and fashion brands

The strongest categories combine a visual product, a research phase and a seasonal buying moment. Each one needs a different pin style, a different board plan and a different season.

Home, furniture and interiors

Rooms, color palettes and before-and-after projects are the natural subject. A board organized by room and style reads the way people plan, which a board organized by product line does not. See furniture store marketing and interior design SEO.

Food, recipes and packaged goods

Recipes, meal ideas and entertaining boards give packaged goods a reason to appear. The pin shows the finished dish and the product in use. Our food social media marketing and CPG marketing pages cover the category.

Beauty and fashion

Looks, outfits and routines are the content. Keep claims modest and factual, and avoid health or weight promises. See beauty marketing, fashion advertising and fashion social media marketing.

Weddings, gifts and DIY

Planning is the whole point: venues, flowers, favors, gift lists and projects people do over several weekends. Start early, since planning for these purchases begins well before the date. See wedding venue marketing and florist marketing.

How organic pins feed Pinterest ad campaigns

An agency uses organic pins as a test bed for paid work. Organic pins tell you what people save and click, and paid campaigns can then back the winners. The two levers share creative, audiences and a catalog.

Promoting pins that already earn saves

Pinterest’s ads overview says ads are regular pins, so a pin that already earns saves is a natural candidate for promotion. Promoted pins must be on your public business profile boards and carry a destination link.

Audiences built from site visitors and engaged pinners

Pinterest’s targeting options include audiences made from people who visited your site or interacted with your pins. Engaged organic audiences can become the base for later campaigns, as long as the tag is in place.

One catalog for product pins and shopping ads

A single catalog feeds product pins and shopping ads. Fix errors once, and both the organic and paid sides stay current.

What ads work best on Pinterest?

Ads that look like pins people would save anyway: a clear product, a scene that shows it in use and short text. Pinterest recommends a 2:3 aspect ratio, which is 1000 by 1500 pixels, and says pins taller than 2:4.2 get truncated in feeds.

Vertical images and video pins

Tall images and short vertical video fit the feed. Check Pinterest’s ads overview and its creative specs for current sizes before a production run, because they change.

Product in use, not on a white background alone

A product on white shows what it is; a product in a room shows why you would want it. Use both, and test which brings more clicks to the page.

Clear text and one idea per pin

Each pin carries one idea and a few words that read at thumb size. Fill the title and description with plain language about the product.

Creative made ahead of the season

Planning starts before buying. Finish creative before the weeks when your category gets searched, so organic pins have time to be found and to prove themselves.

How do you know if Pinterest is working?

By orders, not by saves. Saves and clicks show interest, and the question is whether that interest reaches your store and turns into revenue over a season. Measurement therefore joins Pinterest’s own reports with your analytics.

Pinterest Analytics metrics and what they mean

Pinterest’s analytics help page defines the metrics you will see: impressions, saves, pin clicks, outbound clicks, engagements and rates for several of them, plus video measures. Its overview shows the last 30 days, and it notes that real-time numbers are estimates that can change. Read saves and outbound clicks together: saves show interest, and outbound clicks show visits to your site.

Pinterest traffic and sales in GA4

In your own analytics, Pinterest arrives as a referral source. Add UTM tags to ads and to pins you control so campaigns, formats and products are separated, then follow sessions to orders. Our marketing analytics team builds those reports.

Assisted sales and longer buying cycles

A pin saved now may be bought later, after the shopper has also seen other channels. Judge Pinterest over a season, and look at assisted orders as well as last-click orders.

Pinterest ad rules: what brands can and cannot promote

Pinterest publishes advertising guidelines, community guidelines and rules for creators. Every campaign has to fit them, and they change. Pinterest has announced updated advertising and community guidelines effective November 12, 2026, so check the current versions before launch.

Pinterest’s advertising guidelines

The advertising guidelines, as read on October 28, 2026, ask advertisers to be honest about their relationship with Pinterest, bar targeting by sensitive categories and bar targeting anyone under 18. They prohibit content such as adult material, clickbait tactics and products made from endangered wildlife, and restrict categories such as alcohol, contests and financial products. We keep examples neutral and never aim anything at minors.

Community guidelines for organic pins

The community guidelines cover organic content, and their spam section bars unapproved automation, fake or mass-created accounts and buying or selling engagement. They also bar keyword stuffing and misleading ways of making money from pinners or pinner traffic.

Creator partnerships and disclosure

When a creator is paid or given product to post, the FTC’s endorsement guides at 16 CFR Part 255 require that a material connection the audience would not expect be disclosed clearly and conspicuously. We use no follower buying or engagement schemes. Our influencer marketing page covers creator programs.

How AI assistants answer “should my brand advertise on Pinterest or Meta?”

Assistants answer channel questions from pages they can read: platform business pages, dated guides and comparison articles. Nobody can promise a mention, and the work that helps is clear, factual pages.

What assistants tend to cite for channel questions

Expect platform help centers, reputable how-to guides and pages that compare options with plain criteria. Publish your own comparison in measured terms: which products you sell, which channel you tested and what you decided. Google’s guide to AI features in Search says there are no additional requirements to appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode and that basic SEO practice still applies.

Product pages that assistants and pinners can both read

Put product names, descriptions, prices and availability in plain text on the page. A pin that leads to a page with clear text works for the shopper and for any system reading the page. See AEO for ecommerce, ecommerce SEO and answer engine optimization.

How much does a Pinterest program cost?

Cost has three parts: the work of running the account, ad spend paid to Pinterest and any creative production. How much is Pinterest marketing in practice? Our packages start at $850 a month, and the published US price bands below give a market reference.

Pinterest marketing packages inside our social media packages

Pinterest can be one of the platforms in a social package of $850, $1,850 or $3,400 a month, per our social media pricing page. The live table lists a small paid budget managed in the Growth package and full paid management in the Program package. Pinterest marketing packages inside those tiers fit brands that want one team for several platforms.

Ads management and ad spend

Management beyond the packages, catalog feed work and creative production are quoted after a written scope. Ad spend goes to Pinterest from your ad account, and you set the budget and spend limits.

How to choose among Pinterest marketing agencies

Choose an agency that can show how it handles catalogs, tracking and creative, will tell you honestly whether your category fits, and leaves the accounts in your name. Agencies range from one-person studios to full-service teams, and the questions below sort them quickly.

Criteria that matter

Look for catalog and tracking skill, creative volume, a clear test plan, honest advice about category fit and account ownership. Ask for written answers to the six questions on the cards.

Accounts: Who owns the accounts. The business account, the ad account and the billing sit in your name.
Sales: How sales are tracked. A clear route from a pin or an ad click to an order in your own analytics.
Creative: How much creative each month. A stated number of new pins and videos, and who approves them.
First test: What the first test is. A budget, a length and the one number that decides whether it continues.
Limits: What they will not do. No bought followers or engagement, no promises of virality and no guaranteed sales.
Exit: How you stop. The notice period, and what you keep when the work ends.

Pinterest’s own partner directory

Pinterest publishes a list of Pinterest Business Partners that it says have been vetted for technical expertise and Pinterest knowledge, across advertising, audiences, content, creative, measurement and shopping. It is a useful place to compare options. Progression makes no claim to be listed in it, approved by Pinterest or certified.

Warning signs

Be wary of any provider that does one of these four things.

  • Sells followers or engagement, which Pinterest’s spam rules prohibit
  • Promises virality or guaranteed sales
  • Holds your accounts in the agency’s own name
  • Cannot explain how an order is traced back to a pin or an ad

What does a Pinterest marketing specialist do?

A Pinterest marketing specialist plans and runs the day-to-day work: briefs, publishing, campaign changes and reports. Some brands hire one person; others use an outside team when the work needs several skills at once.

The day-to-day work

Writing creative briefs, scheduling pins, updating the catalog, adjusting campaigns, checking tracking and writing a short report. We quote no salary figure, since none was read from a government source for this page.

A specialist, a freelancer or a Pinterest marketing company

A freelancer can be a good fit for a small account with a clear scope. A specialist inside the company knows the brand best. An outside team adds value when catalogs, tracking and several brands or platforms are involved, since it brings more skills than one hire.

Three of our pages sit next to this one. Use them to choose the right starting point for your account.

Frequently asked questions

What does a Pinterest marketing agency handle that a brand’s social team usually does not?
Catalogs, shopping campaigns, conversion tracking and a steady volume of creative made for Pinterest. A social team often posts across platforms; an agency treats Pinterest as a planning and shopping channel with its own setup and its own measures.
Is Pinterest good for marketing a brand that sells online?
Often, if the products are visual and buyers research first. Pinterest’s business site describes the platform as a place where people discover ideas, plan and shop. Test with a small, tracked budget before you commit.
What is covered each month in Pinterest marketing services?
Strategy, creative production, publishing, ad management, tracking and reporting, as set out in a written scope. The Presence package lists a monthly report, and larger scopes name their own.
What does a Pinterest marketer do day to day?
Writes creative briefs, schedules pins, keeps the catalog current, adjusts campaigns, checks that tracking works and reports on saves, clicks and orders. The mix depends on whether the account is organic, paid or both.
Do you set up Pinterest product catalogs?
Yes. Pinterest asks for a business account, a claimed website, the Pinterest tag and a site with clear contact details, shipping policy and refund policy before a catalog can be added. We handle the feed, fix errors and keep it current.
Can a Pinterest ads agency run shopping campaigns from a Shopify store?
Yes, when the store’s product data can feed a Pinterest catalog. Pinterest’s pages describe how catalogs are added, and our Shopify marketing page covers the store side. The campaign starts after the tag and the catalog check out.
Which campaign objectives does Pinterest offer advertisers?
Pinterest’s help page lists brand awareness, video completion, consideration, leads and sales, as read on October 28, 2026. The objective sets how you bid and which formats are available. Stores selling from a catalog usually test sales first.
Which tools connect Pinterest ad clicks to completed orders?
The Pinterest tag on your site, optionally with the conversions API, plus UTM tags and referral reports in GA4. Together they show what visitors did after an ad and which orders followed.
Where do ads appear for people browsing Pinterest?
Pinterest’s ads overview says promoted pins surface in a person’s home feed, in category feeds and in relevant search results. Targeting options also let advertisers choose home feed, search or related pins.
Should we put budget into Pinterest or Facebook ads first?
Start where your buyers are. A brand with visual products and a planning phase can test Pinterest first, while one that relies on retargeting or lead forms may start on Meta. Run a small test on each with the same stop rule.
Are ads on Pinterest worth testing with a small budget?
Yes, with tracking in place and a stop rule written before launch. A small test shows whether your products and pages fit the platform. We do not promise a return on ad spend.
How long before a Pinterest campaign shows whether it works?
Pinterest’s pages give no fixed period. Wait for tracking to appear in Ads Manager, which the tag guide says can take up to 24 hours, then judge after the campaign has enough conversions to read.
Can organic pins and paid campaigns share the same creative?
Yes. Ads are regular pins that you pay to promote, so a pin that earns saves can be promoted, and creative made for ads can also be published as an organic pin.
What kinds of products are not allowed in ads on Pinterest?
Pinterest’s advertising guidelines prohibit categories such as adult content, clickbait tactics and products made from endangered wildlife, and restrict others such as alcohol, contests and financial products. Read the current version before launch.
Do creator partnerships on Pinterest need a disclosure?
Yes, when a creator is paid or given product and the audience would not expect that connection. The FTC’s endorsement guides require a clear and conspicuous disclosure. Your counsel can confirm how they apply.
Should a plumber or dentist spend time on Pinterest?
Rarely. Urgent local services are searched for on Google, not planned on Pinterest. A service with a visual portfolio, such as a remodeler or a wedding photographer, is the exception.
Do Etsy sellers need a Pinterest plan?
They can benefit from one, but Pinterest says marketplace shops on sites like Etsy cannot be claimed as a website. Our Etsy SEO services page covers the marketplace side.
Do you sell Pinterest marketing packages on their own?
Pinterest work sits inside our social media packages of $850, $1,850 and $3,400 a month. Ads management beyond those packages is quoted after a written scope, with ad spend paid to Pinterest.
What separates strong Pinterest agencies from weak ones?
Strong ones show catalog and tracking skill, a test plan, honest advice about fit and clear account ownership. Weak ones sell followers or virality, hold accounts in their own name or cannot trace an order to a pin.
Is Progression a Pinterest partner or a certified Pinterest agency?
No. Progression is an independent agency and makes no claim of Pinterest partner, approved or certified status. Pinterest publishes its own directory of Business Partners if you want to compare.
Should we hire a Pinterest marketing specialist or a Pinterest company?
A specialist suits a steady, focused account run in house. A company suits brands that need catalogs, tracking and several platforms at once. Weigh the cost of one hire against the skills of a team.
If the engagement ends, does the brand keep its Pinterest business and ad accounts?
Yes. The accounts and the billing belong to the brand, and the agency works as a user. Set that up on day one, and confirm it in writing before work starts.
