Marketing Agency in Utah: Fact Sheets for the Wasatch Front, Silicon Slopes, St. George and the Park Towns

Updated November 2026 · Written and maintained by the Progression Agency strategy team

Utah’s median age was the lowest among the states in Census estimates for 2022, and its households the largest in 2015 to 2019 survey data, and both shape every media plan here. Yet a marketing agency in Utah is really working four markets: the Wasatch Front, Silicon Slopes, St. George and the resort and park towns. This page gives owners and marketing leads one fact sheet for each, with who lives there, who buys, which channels to start with and what to watch. It works just as well for choosing a Utah digital marketing company. Fees and Utah’s sale advertising rules follow the sheets. Progression is based in New York and serves Utah remotely, with on-site sessions on request.

The short answer Utah is four markets under one name: the Wasatch Front, Silicon Slopes, St. George, and the resort and park towns. Find your county in the finder, read one sheet, then use the side-by-side table and the fee table. Every figure carries its year, and the older ones say they are old. Sale advertising is covered at the end as read in Utah’s Truth in Advertising Act, which is general information: ask counsel.

Population, age and household figures come from the Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute, tourism figures from its 2025 report as carried by Utah Business, the Latino shares from Census estimates as reported by KSL, and park spending from the National Park Service. Each figure is dated where it appears. Census QuickFacts could not be read, so some figures are older than the newest Census release. Nothing here is legal advice.

The youngest median age and the largest households: what those two facts do to a plan

Two numbers, each dated, frame every plan in Utah. The Kem C. Gardner Policy Institute’s Census age estimates for 2022 put Utah’s median age at 31.9, the lowest among the states, against 38.9 for the nation. Its 2015 to 2019 survey fact sheet gave Utah the largest average household size, 3.12. That figure is old, and we keep its dates because newer Census data could not be read.

31.9: Median age, 2022. The lowest of any state in Census estimates for 2022, against 38.9 for the nation.
3.12: Household size, 2015 to 2019. The largest average household size of any state in survey data for those years, an older figure.
28.5%: Ages 25 to 44, 2022. The largest share of Utah's population by age range in 2022.
27.6%: Under 18, 2022. The next largest share, close behind.
25.7: Provo-Orem median age, 2021. The lowest median age of any metro area in the country in Census estimates for 2021.
45.3: Projected median age. Gardner's long-term projection, rising from 32.8 over the next forty years, on a different base.

The Institute’s 2021 estimates also put the Provo-Orem metro, in Utah and Juab counties, at a median age of 25.7, the lowest of any metro in the country that year. The same institute says on its demographics page that its long-term projections show the state’s median age rising from 32.8 to 45.3 over forty years, on a different base from the Census figures. So “young” is a current fact and a falling one.

The 2025 estimates add a second shift. The Utah Population Committee put the state at 3,551,150 on July 1, 2025, with natural change generating 57% of growth and net migration 43%, a reversal from the previous four years. Plan consequences are reasoning, not findings: family-sized purchases, children in the household, school calendars and a large share of adults aged 25 to 44. We draw no conclusion about any community’s values from this data.

3.55M: Population, July 2025. The Utah Population Committee's estimate was 3,551,150.
57%: From natural change. Births over deaths generated 57% of growth in 2025; net migration contributed 43%.
15,914: Utah County added. The most of any county, about 36% of the state's growth.
8,281: Salt Lake County added. Washington County added 4,751 and Tooele County 2,466.

What does a young state mean for media timing?

Reasoning, not a finding: the calendar follows households with children and students.

  • School calendars set the busy weeks for family purchases.
  • Semester dates drive student offers around Provo and Orem.
  • Evenings and weekends matter where both adults work.
  • Offers sized for larger households fit the 3.12 average household size.

Marketing agency in Utah or Utah digital marketing company: start with your region’s sheet

Start with the county where your customers live. A Utah digital marketing company that sells one plan to every county has skipped the first question. The finder tells you which sheet to read, and the Gardner Institute says nine of every ten Utahns live in an urban area as the Census defines it, on 1.1% of the state’s land, which is why four sheets cover most people.

Every other countyThe closest sheet by how your customers behave

A marketing agency in Utah that serves all four should be able to say which sheet each customer belongs to. A Utah marketing agency that sends one plan to all four sheets has not read them.

Sheet 1: a marketing agency in Salt Lake City and the Wasatch Front

The Wasatch Front is the largest sheet and the least uniform. Salt Lake County added 8,281 residents in 2025, according to the Utah Population Committee’s estimates, and its neighbors grew at different speeds.

WatchThe same ad reaches Ogden and Tooele, so a county choice is a budget choice

A buyer looking for a digital marketing agency in Salt Lake City will find the same field as a buyer in Ogden, and a marketing agency Ogden businesses use is judged against the same sheet. Our local SEO services, home services marketing and restaurant marketing pages cover the common trades.

A marketing company in Salt Lake City that serves West Valley City and Tooele needs separate county settings. Each ad set, each phone number and each landing page should say which county it is for.

Spanish in a Wasatch Front plan

KSL, reporting Census-based estimates, says Latinos made up 22.9% of Salt Lake County in 2025, 20.7% of Weber County and 17.7% of Tooele County, and accounted for 49.7% of the state’s growth from 2020 to 2025. Hispanic is not the same as Spanish speaking, so these shares are a reason to test, not a reason to assume. Use separate ad sets and landing pages for the test; our Hispanic marketing agency page covers the work in Spanish.

Which county should the first dollar go to?

To the county where your best customers already live. Start with one county’s settings and add the next after you can read the first.

  • Set a budget for each county, not one for the whole front.
  • Give each county its own phone number so calls can be counted.
  • Add a county only after the first one is readable.

Sheet 2: Silicon Slopes and Utah County

Utah County added 15,914 residents in 2025, about 36% of the state’s growth, and the Utah Population Committee’s estimates show its growth rate at 2.1%.

WatchNational buyers, so a Utah address does little for a software product, which is reasoning and not a finding

The Governor’s Office of Economic Development, summarizing Gardner research with a data year of 2018, says Salt Lake and Utah counties provided more than 80 percent of tech industry jobs in Utah, and that Silicon Slopes is part of the story but there are tech companies in every county. The year is 2018. We state nothing about current hiring.

A marketing agency in Lehi, Utah that serves software firms sells to buyers who are mostly elsewhere. A search for marketing companies in Utah County by a consumer brand is a different job from one by a software firm.

Does a Utah address help a software product?

Little, as reasoning. The buyer is usually elsewhere, so the proof has to travel: comparison pages, customer evidence and a clear price path.

Selling software from Utah County

The buyer is usually outside the state, the sale is long and the proof is a comparison page and a case study. See tech marketing, B2B SaaS marketing and LinkedIn ads.

Young households in Provo and Orem

The 2021 estimate of 25.7 for the Provo-Orem metro is the lowest in the country that year. For a consumer brand that means students and young families, and school and semester calendars drive timing. That is our reasoning. KSL puts the Latino share of Utah County at 16.3% in 2025.

Sheet 3: St. George and Washington County

Washington County grew 2.3% in 2025 and added 4,751 residents, according to the Utah Population Committee’s estimates, and KSL reports a Latino share of 13.5% there.

A marketing agency in St. George, Utah serves a county where the person seeing the ad is not always a permanent resident. See home services marketing and real estate marketing for the trades and for property.

One county, three kinds of resident

A 2019 Salt Lake Tribune report on Gardner research says Washington County’s temporary population peaked at 57,069 in 2017, about a third of the permanent 162,592, with about half seasonal and half overnight visitors. That is an old figure and we state its year. Separate messages and landing pages for residents, seasonal residents and visitors keep each reader’s question in view.

Sheet 4: resort and park towns

Park City in Summit County, Heber in Wasatch County, Moab in Grand County, and Kanab and the Bryce country in Kane and Garfield counties share one trait: most buyers live somewhere else. We use state figures only, plus county growth rates of 2.1% for Grand and 2.0% for Wasatch in 2025.

What does a low-snow version of a plan contain?

A town needs a version of its plan that works when the snow does not come.

  • Summer and shoulder-season offers ready to switch on.
  • Lodging packages that do not depend on lift tickets.
  • Flexible booking terms stated plainly.
  • An email list that can be reached without paid media.

A low-snow winter in the numbers

The report says Utah recorded 4.8 million skier days in the 2025/26 season, down 26.5% in a historic low-snow season. Skier spending fell 17.8% to $2.1 billion, though spending per skier reached a record $392. A town’s plan needs a low-snow version with summer and lodging offers.

4.8M: Skier days, 2025/26. A 26.5% drop in a historic low-snow season.
$2.1B: Skier spending. Down 17.8%.
$392: Per skier. A record, according to the report.
$13.7B: Statewide visitor spending, 2025. A record, per the same report.

Park visits fell while spending held

The same report says national parks in Utah recorded 10.6 million visits in 2025, down 4.5%, and state parks 12.2 million, down 5.8%, while statewide visitor spending reached a record $13.7 billion. The two moved differently and we state no reason. The National Park Service counts more units, reporting that 15.8 million visitors to national parks in Utah spent $2.0 billion in the state in 2024, so the two park counts are not the same series.

What a Utah marketing agency charges

A Utah marketing agency prices by scope, and no Utah figure is published, so the table gives national bands. A four-sheet plan is more scope than a one-sheet plan, which is reasoning and carries no multiplier. Progression’s work is quoted after a written scope.

These are published US price bands (market figures, not a Progression rate card), read in October 2026 from WebFX, Clutch, Credo, Search Engine Journal, MarketerHire and Web Tonic.
ServicePublished US bandWhat it covers
A single channel retainer$1,000 to $12,000 a monthOne channel handled by an agency
A full service retainer$5,000 to $50,000 a monthSeveral channels under one agency, media extra
A fixed scope project$10,000 to $50,000A defined project for one price
Google Ads management$1,000 to $10,000 a month, or 10% to 20% of ad spendThe fee for running campaigns, not counting the spend
A fractional chief marketing officer$5,000 to $25,000 a monthA senior marketer who works part-time

Why is there no Utah price in the table?

Because none is published. The bands are national, and a regional claim would have no source behind it.

A marketing company in Utah that quotes one number for all four sheets has priced the average of none of them. Our marketing agency pricing page explains how fees are built.

Sale banners under Utah’s Truth in Advertising Act

This section is general information as read in November 2026, so ask counsel. Utah Code 13-11a-3 lists deceptive trade practices, and a retailer on any of the four sheets can turn each item into a check on a banner or an ad.

  • False or misleading statements about the reasons for or amounts of price reductions, including the false use of expressions such as “going out of business,” “final days” and “liquidation sale.”
  • Comparing your own sale or discount price with a competitor’s nondiscounted price without clearly and conspicuously disclosing that fact.
  • A price comparison based on a price assessment more than seven days old, without disclosing the date in a print ad or the time frame in a radio or television ad.
  • Representing a reduction from a regular price when the former price is not a regular price as the chapter defines it.
  • Advertising goods or services or their price with intent not to sell them as advertised.
  • Deceptive representations of geographic origin, which matters to anyone labeling a product as made in Utah; that is a question for counsel.

Which banner claims need counsel first?

Any claim about why a price is low, any comparison with a competitor’s price and any claim about where a product comes from. Counsel can tell you which ones your banner makes.

We read the list in subsection (1) and not the remedies, so we state none. Income, health and chat-agent rules are a different subject and are covered elsewhere.

Digital marketing agency in Utah: channels by sheet

Match the channels to the sheet. Ask a digital marketing company in Utah which county its examples come from. Direct selling, supplement and software sites in Utah have their own claim rules, which our Salt Lake website design review walks through.

Web marketing in Utah for income, health or direct-selling companies is a separate subject, and we leave it to its own page.

A Utah digital marketing agency is judged the same way as any other: against the sheet it says it serves.

Hiring a digital marketing agency in Utah to cover all four with one plan is the mistake the finder is built to prevent.

Marketing firms in Utah: one question per sheet

One question per sheet, inside the format, tells you more than a capabilities list.

  • Sheet 1: which counties do your examples come from, and how do you split settings between them?
  • Sheet 2: who is the buyer for this product, and where do they live?
  • Sheet 3: how do you separate residents, seasonal residents and visitors in one county?
  • Sheet 4: what does your plan do in a poor season?

Any marketing company Utah buyers consider can answer those four. The best marketing agency in Utah for a Moab lodge may be wrong for a Lehi software firm, and we publish no list.

Marketing companies in Utah vary in size and focus, and we name none. Ask each to answer the question for your sheet in writing.

Frequently asked questions

What should a marketing agency in Utah know before it writes a plan?
Your region, because the four sheets differ, plus the age and household figures that shape demand, and your season. It should ask which county your customers live in before it names a channel.
Is a Utah digital marketing company enough, or do we need a full-service firm?
It depends on the sheet. A single channel retainer, published at $1,000 to $12,000 a month, suits one clear job; a full service retainer, $5,000 to $50,000 a month, suits several. Both are national bands.
What does a marketing agency in Salt Lake City do differently from one working only in Utah County?
As reasoning, not a claim about any firm: Salt Lake County work needs county settings across the Wasatch Front, while Utah County work leans toward software buyers who live elsewhere.
Does Spanish belong in a Utah campaign?
Sometimes. KSL, reporting Census-based estimates, puts the Latino share at 22.9% in Salt Lake County and 20.7% in Weber County in 2025. Hispanic is not the same as Spanish speaking, so test with separate ad sets.
How young is Utah’s population now?
In Census estimates for 2022 the median age was 31.9, the lowest among the states, and Gardner’s projection shows it rising over forty years. Both are dated figures.
How should a Moab or Park City business plan around a poor ski or park season?
With a version for a low-snow winter. The 2025 report shows 4.8 million skier days in 2025/26, down 26.5%, and national park visits down 4.5%. Offer summer and lodging packages as a counterweight.
How are fees for a Utah marketing agency built, and what is published?
No Utah figure is published. Published US bands run from $1,000 to $12,000 a month for a single channel retainer to $5,000 to $50,000 a month for a full service retainer. Our work is quoted after a written scope.
Can we say “final days” on a Utah sale ad?
Utah Code 13-11a-3 lists the false use of such expressions as a deceptive trade practice. We read the list, not the remedies. Ask counsel before the wording goes live.
What does a digital marketing agency in Utah do for a software firm in Lehi?
It works from the idea that the buyers are mostly elsewhere: comparison pages, LinkedIn and proof from customers. A Utah address does little for a software product. That is our reasoning.
How do I compare marketing firms in Utah?
Ask each the question for your sheet and judge the answer by whether it names your county, your buyer and your season. We name no firms.
Can you work on site in Utah?
Progression is based in New York and serves Utah remotely, with on-site sessions on request. We claim no Utah office or staff.
How large are households in Utah?
The largest of any state in 2015 to 2019 survey data, at an average of 3.12. That figure is old, and newer Census data was not readable for this page.
Is Utah’s population growing from births or from moves?
In 2025, natural change generated 57% of growth and net migration 43%, according to the Utah Population Committee’s estimates, a reversal from the previous four years.
Which county added the most people in 2025?
Utah County, with 15,914 residents, about 36% of the state’s growth. Salt Lake County added 8,281, Washington County 4,751 and Tooele County 2,466.
Who buys in the resort and park towns?
Mostly people from elsewhere. The 2025 tourism report says nonresident spending exceeded resident visitor spending by more than four to one.
What changed in Utah’s tourism numbers in 2025?
Visitor spending reached a record $13.7 billion, while national park visits fell 4.5% to 10.6 million and state park visits fell 5.8% to 12.2 million. The report gives no reason and we state none.
Does a price comparison need a date in Utah?
Under 13-11a-3, a comparison based on a price assessment more than seven days old needs the date disclosed in print or the time frame in a radio or television ad. Ask counsel.
Where is Utah’s youngest metro area?
The Gardner Institute’s 2021 estimates put the Provo-Orem metro’s median age at 25.7, the lowest of any metro in the country that year.
Which sheet does Salt Lake City belong to?
Sheet 1, the Wasatch Front, with Davis, Weber and Tooele counties. Utah County’s growth is covered on sheet 2.
