HVAC website design is the design and build of websites for heating, cooling, ventilation and air quality contractors, with one purpose: turn a homeowner on a phone into a call or a booked appointment. Progression Agency is an HVAC website design company in New York building sites for contractors across the United States and worldwide. This page explains what an HVAC website must include, how it should be structured for search and for ads, what separates a site that converts from one that looks good, and what it costs.

The short answerAn HVAC website earns its keep on the phone. The design that works puts a tracked phone number and a short form in the header, builds one page per service (AC repair, furnace repair, replacement, ductless, indoor air quality, maintenance plans), shows ranges and financing, carries reviews and credentials on every page, loads in under three seconds on a phone, and connects to the scheduling software the office already uses. Everything else on the page is secondary to that.
Ranges on this page are the planning figures Progression Agency publishes; a quote follows a written scope. Nothing here describes a named client or a measured result for one.
What an HVAC website has to do
Three visitors arrive at an HVAC site: a homeowner with a broken system who needs to call now, a homeowner researching a replacement who wants ranges and financing, and a property manager checking credentials. The site has to serve all three in one or two taps. Most HVAC websites serve none of them, because they were built to look like a brochure. SEO for HVAC companies and HVAC advertising both depend on the pages this site provides.
Contractors search for an HVAC website design company, an HVAC website design agency, HVAC website design companies or HVAC website design services, the best HVAC website design, HVAC web design, HVAC websites or websites for HVAC companies, HVAC website templates, HVAC website cost and HVAC landing pages. This page covers all of them: the site, its service pages and town pages, online scheduling and what it costs.
The pages an HVAC website needs
| Page | Purpose | What it must contain |
|---|---|---|
| Home | Route the three visitors | Phone, form, services grid, service area, reviews, credentials |
| AC repair, furnace repair, heat pump repair | Emergency calls | Symptoms, same-day availability, diagnostic fee, what the visit includes |
| Replacement and installation | High-value quotes | Ranges by system type, financing, brands, efficiency and rebates, process |
| Ductless and heat pumps | Growing demand | Use cases, ranges, rebates, installation photos |
| Indoor air quality | Add-on revenue | Filtration, humidity, duct cleaning, when each applies |
| Maintenance plans | Recurring revenue | Plan tiers, what is included, price, sign-up |
| Commercial HVAC | Larger contracts | Project types, maintenance contracts, bid request |
| Service areas | Local search | One page per town with local content |
| Reviews, financing, about, careers | Trust and hiring | Real reviews, financing partners, licenses, team, open roles |
Design for the phone, not the boardroom
Most HVAC traffic is a phone in a hot house. The design decisions that matter are the tap targets, the load time, the position of the phone number and the absence of anything that blocks it. A sticky call button, a two-field form (name and phone), compressed images and no autoplay video are worth more than any visual flourish. We design the mobile view first and derive the desktop from it.
Conversion elements that belong on every HVAC page
- Tracked phone number in the header and a sticky call button on mobile.
- A short form with a same-day promise the office can keep.
- Online scheduling connected to the dispatch software where the office wants it.
- Reviews pulled from Google with the service named.
- License numbers, insurance, manufacturer dealer badges and financing partners.
- Ranges and financing on replacement pages; diagnostic fees on repair pages.
- Service area stated plainly, with a map.
HVAC website design and SEO
The site is the container for every search page: service pages, town pages, brand pages and guides. Design decisions decide whether those pages can exist and rank: a clean URL structure, editable templates for service and location pages, fast templates, structured data for HVACBusiness and Service, and image handling that does not bloat pages. A site that cannot add a town page without a developer will never rank in that town.
HVAC website design and paid ads
Paid campaigns need a landing page per service, built on the same templates as the service pages but stripped of distractions. Designing those templates at build time avoids a second project later. We build the site so that the ad team can spin up a heat pump rebate page in an hour, not a week.
Integrations: scheduling, dispatch, financing and chat
HVAC offices run on dispatch and scheduling software; the site should connect to it for online booking and for lead capture. Financing applications should open from the replacement page. Chat is optional and only if a human or a well-grounded assistant answers it; a chat widget nobody staffs costs calls. We integrate what the office actually uses and leave out what it does not.
Platform choice for HVAC websites
WordPress is the default: editable, fast when built properly, and able to host service and town pages without a developer. Template platforms sold to trades are fine for a one-truck operation but usually cannot be optimized deeply or moved when the contract ends. We build on WordPress unless there is a reason not to, and the site and its content belong to you. Our WordPress development page covers the platform.
Photos, video and trust
Real photos of trucks, technicians and installations beat stock photography in every test we have seen for trades, because homeowners are deciding whether to let this company into their house. A half-day shoot at the shop and on two jobs produces enough imagery for the site; short technician videos on service pages add trust. We plan the shoot as part of the build.
What the build includes
- Discovery: services, towns, systems installed, brands, offers, software in use.
- Page plan and keyword map for service and town pages.
- Design: mobile first, brand applied, conversion elements placed.
- Build: WordPress, templates for service, town and landing pages, schema, speed.
- Content: every service page written with ranges, process and FAQs; town pages with local content.
- Integrations: phone tracking, forms, scheduling, financing, reviews.
- Launch: redirects from the old site, analytics and search console verified, sitemap submitted.
- Handover: training for the office, documentation, ownership confirmed.
HVAC website redesign versus rebuild
If the existing site is on an editable platform, loads reasonably and has the right pages, a redesign of templates and conversion elements may be enough. If it is on a locked platform, slow, or missing service and town pages, a rebuild is cheaper than patching. Our website redesign page explains how we decide; we tell you which in writing after looking at the site.
If the existing site is on an editable platform, loads reasonably and has the right pages, a redesign of templates and conversion elements may be enough.
How to choose an HVAC website design company
- Ask to see an HVAC or trades site they built and load it on your phone.
- Ask whether you can add a service or town page yourself after launch.
- Ask how calls and forms are tracked.
- Ask who owns the site, the domain and the content. You must.
- Ask what happens to the site if you stop paying them.
What it costs: HVAC website design
Website work is priced by the number of templates, the content that has to be produced and the systems that must connect, not by page count. For HVAC website design, the ranges below are the planning figures from our marketing agency pricing guide and website cost guide; a quote follows a written scope and a redirect map.
| Project | Small agency range | What drives the number |
|---|---|---|
| Brochure site, 5–12 pages | $8,000–$25,000 | Custom design versus template |
| Site plus content program | $20,000–$45,000 | The content is the half that makes it rank |
| Service business site, 20–60 pages | $18,000–$55,000 | Templates, integrations, content volume |
| Ecommerce, small catalog | $20,000–$70,000 | Integrations and SKU count |
| Redesign of an existing site | $9,000–$40,000 | Redirect map, content migration, platform change |
| Landing page, single | $1,200–$4,000 | Offer strategy more than design |
| Website maintenance | $150–$800 / month | Updates, backups, security, minor edits |
Every figure above is a planning range already published on this site; the quote for HVAC website design follows a written scope, and the same ranges apply across the United States and worldwide.
