AI SEO Agency Denver: The One Market the Locals Still Hold

Updated September 2026 · Written and maintained by the Progression Agency strategy team

We measured the Denver SERP in September 2026. Every result above position six is a Colorado business or publication, and the national agency that tops most city results does not appear at all.

The short answerDenver is the only one of twelve cities where the local field holds the entire top five. blennd.com at domain authority 27 is at position one; Clutch at 71 and Semrush at 86 sit below it; and thriveagency.com, which holds a top-seven position in nine of twelve cities, is absent entirely. Semrush ranks its Colorado AI-optimization list rather than a Denver one — the category exists at state level but not yet at city level, which puts Denver one step behind Boston on the same road. ‘seo agency denver’ measures 590 searches at $32.07, the third most expensive click in the study.

Every figure on this page was pulled from the Ubersuggest API, US location, on 17 September 2026 and carries that date. Denver was briefly excluded from this research because the API returned an empty result set; retrying returned full data, and every city was re-pulled before publication.

Denver is the only city of twelve where the local field holds the entire top five

Every result above position six is a Colorado business or a Colorado publication.

The top five, in order

blennd.com at domain authority 27 with /locations/colorado/denver-seo-agency/. Built In Colorado at 49. thebrandsmen.com at 25 with /denver-ai-seo-agency/. Then a local pack at three to five — epidemic-marketing.com, oasisseocompanydenver.click and effortlessaicompany.com — interleaved with boulderseomarketing.com at 35 and 1digitalagency at 41.

The national incumbent does not appear at all

thriveagency.com, at domain authority 49, holds a top-seven position in nine of the twelve cities and position one in four of them. It is absent from Denver entirely, as it is from Boston and Seattle. Clutch, at domain authority 71, is pushed down to position eight.

Which means authority is not what decides this page

The position-one result is domain authority 27. Clutch at 71 and Semrush at 86 are both below it. In Denver the question is not whether you can out-muscle a national brand — it is whether your page is more obviously about Denver than the next local firm’s.

Semrush is ranking a Colorado list here, not a Denver one, and that is the tell

In Boston it ranks a city-level AI directory. In Denver it can only offer the state.

Three different Semrush URLs across the twelve cities

In nine of them, Google ranks /list/seo/[city]/ — the general SEO agency directory. In Boston it ranks /list/ai-optimization/boston/, a dedicated city-level AI search list. In Denver it ranks /list/ai-optimization/colorado/: the AI category exists, but only at state level.

A directory builds the narrowest page its demand justifies

Colorado warranted a state AI list. Denver on its own did not, yet. Boston did. That is a reasonably precise read on where each market sits: Denver is one step behind Boston on the same road, and ahead of the nine cities still on the general SEO list.

It is also a leading indicator

‘ai seo agency denver’ measures zero searches. Keyword volume counts queries that have already become habitual; a directory investing in a category page is a signal that moves earlier. In Denver those two disagree, and the directory is the one that changed first.

Keyword volume counts queries that have already become habitual; a directory investing in a category page is a signal that moves earlier.

One pack entry uses a throwaway domain, and it is worth naming

oasisseocompanydenver.click holds a local pack position.

A .click domain in a pack slot

The local pack is ordered on relevance, distance and prominence — not on the website at all, which is why a domain nobody would choose deliberately can hold a position in it. The listing is doing the work; the domain is incidental.

It is not a tactic to copy

A keyword-stuffed throwaway TLD buys no authority, no history and no credibility with a human reader who sees it in the result. What it demonstrates is that the pack can be entered without a strong website, which is genuinely useful to know and is an argument for the profile rather than for the domain.

And it says something about how contested the pack is

Where a pack slot is held by a site like that, the pack is not tightly filled. A properly completed profile from an established Denver business is competing against a thin field for the positions that sit above every organic result bar two.

We wrongly excluded Denver from this research, and this page exists because we checked

Worth saying plainly, because it is the reason to trust the numbers that follow.

The API returned no SERP data, and we believed it

An earlier round of this research recorded Miami, Boston and Denver as having no stored result set for the AI-modified query, and concluded the term had not arrived in those markets. Three city pages were dropped on that basis, and the remaining pages said so in print.

Retrying returned a full result set for all three

Philadelphia and Atlanta produced the same empty response once each and then returned complete data on an immediate retry. The empty response was transient. Denver turned out to be the most locally-held market of the twelve.

The lesson is one we would give a client

An absence of data is not evidence of absence, and a single query returning nothing is not a finding. We re-ran every city before publishing any of them, and the corrected dataset is in the tables below.

An absence of data is not evidence of absence, and a single query returning nothing is not a finding.

What we would do for a Denver business, in order

Access, profile, page, lists, editing.

Access and rendering, because nothing works without them

Confirm AI crawlers can reach the site and that content exists without JavaScript. Our robots.txt checker and JavaScript SEO checker both run in your browser and cost nothing. Assistants and crawlers read text; a page that renders only in a browser is invisible to both.

The Business Profile, completed properly

The pack holds positions three to five, above every organic result except two, and one of those slots is held by a throwaway domain. Complete the profile, pick categories that match what people type, and collect reviews with descriptive text rather than bare stars.

One Denver page, against a domain authority 25 bar

thebrandsmen.com at /denver-ai-seo-agency/ is the page to beat, and blennd.com at 27 is the one to stand next to. Neither is a large site. If we could not say something specific about Denver we would not publish a Denver page.

Then the two Colorado lists, then the editing

Semrush’s Colorado AI-optimization list already ranks at position six, and Built In Colorado’s ’10 Top Denver SEO Agencies to Know’ at position two. Both take an email with checkable evidence. Answer-first rewriting comes fourth here rather than second, because Denver serves no AI Overview.

What we will not claim about Denver

Three statements that would help us and would not be true.

That we rank here

We do not appear anywhere in this result set. Progression is domain authority 4 and based in Sunnyside, New York. The tables below measure other people’s positions.

That an all-local top five means it is easy

It means a national brand will not simply outweigh you. It also means every competitor on the page is a Denver firm that has already built a Denver page, which is a more specific kind of competition than most cities in this study have.

That $32.07 a click is revenue you will capture

It is a paid-search figure showing what advertisers believe a Denver client is worth. On 590 searches a month, the shape it describes is a small number of high-value clients — useful for sizing the effort, not a projection of income.

One national agency holds the top of most city SERPs, and Denver is where it does not

The main finding of the twelve-city measurement, read from the far end.

thriveagency.com appears in nine of the twelve cities

Position one in Chicago, Phoenix, Philadelphia and Atlanta. Position three in Dallas, four in Austin and Houston, seven in Los Angeles and Miami. Absent in Seattle, Boston and Denver.

agencies.semrush.com sits at two to six in ten of twelve

Present here at position six — the lowest it falls in any city we measured, and with a state list rather than a city one.

The three cities without the incumbent are the three most locally held

Boston, Denver and Seattle. In all three a low-authority local site holds position one — domain authority 27 here, 25 in Boston, 20 in Seattle. Where local firms have built pages that are visibly about their own city, a generic national page stops winning. That is the argument for building one, made by the data rather than by us.

The measured data, in full

Everything above comes from these tables. They were pulled on 17 September 2026 and carry that date so you can judge how stale they are when you read this.

AI, AEO and what is changing

What the Denver top five is made of
Four yeses and four noes. The top five in Denver is entirely Colorado — the only city of the twelve where that is true.
Semrush is ranking a state list here, not a city list
A directory builds the narrowest page its demand justifies. Colorado warranted a state AI list; Denver alone did not yet. That is a fairly precise read on where this market sits.
Cost per click across the twelve cities
Denver has the third most expensive click in the study on the joint-second smallest search volume. A small number of clients each worth a great deal is what that shape usually means.
Denver and Boston are the same market at two different stages
Neither has a national incumbent and both have a low-authority local site at position one. Boston’s directory list is city level; Denver’s is only state level. Denver is the earlier version of the same thing.
What we would do for a Denver business
Answer-first editing is fourth here rather than second, because Denver serves no AI Overview. Where there is no generated answer above the results, the page and the map do the work.
Where the twelve cities sit on local-field strength against incumbent strength
Bottom-right is a market the locals hold. Denver is the furthest into that corner of any city we measured.
Denver, in numbers
The second and third numbers together are the page. Denver is the one city of twelve where the local field holds the entire top five.

Frequently asked questions

What is unusual about the Denver SERP?
The entire top five is Colorado — blennd.com, Built In Colorado, thebrandsmen.com and a local pack. It is the only one of our twelve cities where the local field holds every position above six.
Does the national agency rank in Denver?
No. thriveagency.com holds a top-seven position in nine of the twelve cities and position one in four, and it does not appear in Denver at all. Seattle and Boston are the only other cities where that is true.
Who ranks first in Denver?
blennd.com at domain authority 27, with /locations/colorado/denver-seo-agency/. Clutch at 71 and Semrush at 86 are both below it.
How much demand is there in Denver?
‘seo agency denver’ measured 590 monthly searches in September 2026 at a $32.07 cost per click and an SEO difficulty of 37. That is the third most expensive click in the study on the joint-second smallest volume.
What does that combination mean?
Usually a small number of clients each worth a great deal. It is a reason to size the effort carefully rather than to assume either a big opportunity or a negligible one.
Does ‘ai seo agency denver’ get any searches?
No. It measured zero, with an SEO difficulty of 5.
Why does the Semrush URL matter?
Because Semrush ranks a different directory in different cities. In nine of ours it is the general SEO list. In Boston it is a city-level AI search list. In Denver it is /list/ai-optimization/colorado/ — the AI category exists, but only at state level.
What does that tell you?
That Colorado warranted a state AI list and Denver alone did not yet, while Boston did. Denver is one step behind Boston on the same road and ahead of the nine cities still on the general SEO list.
Is there an AI Overview on this query in Denver?
No. Austin, Los Angeles, Miami, Boston, Philadelphia and Atlanta all served one when we measured; Denver, Chicago, Dallas, Phoenix, Houston and Seattle did not.
How does that change the plan?
Answer-first editing drops from second to fourth. Where there is no generated answer above the results, the Business Profile and the page do the work.
Where is the local pack in Denver?
Positions three to five, interleaved with the organic results — epidemic-marketing.com, oasisseocompanydenver.click and effortlessaicompany.com.
Why is a .click domain ranking?
Because the local pack is ordered on relevance, distance and prominence rather than on the website. The listing does the work and the domain is incidental. It is not a tactic to copy — it buys no authority, no history and no credibility with a reader.
What does it tell you?
That the Denver pack is not tightly filled. A properly completed profile from an established business is competing against a thin field for positions that sit above every organic result but two.
What should a Denver business do first?
Confirm crawler access and rendering, then complete the Google Business Profile. The pack holds three of the top five positions here.
Which Denver listings are worth approaching?
Semrush’s Colorado AI-optimization list, which ranks at position six, and Built In Colorado’s ’10 Top Denver SEO Agencies to Know’ at position two. Both take an email with checkable evidence rather than a pitch.
Does an all-local top five mean Denver is easy?
No. It means a national brand will not simply outweigh you. It also means every competitor on the page is a Denver firm that has already built a Denver page.
Why did you nearly not publish a Denver page?
Because the API returned no SERP data for the AI-modified query and we took that at face value, excluding Miami, Boston and Denver. Retrying returned full result sets for all three. Denver turned out to be the most locally-held market of the twelve.
Does that affect the other city pages?
It did, and they were corrected before publication. Several said in print that three cities had no measurable SERP. That claim is wrong and has been removed.
Does Progression rank for these Denver terms?
No. We appear nowhere in this result set. The tables measure other people’s positions and are published because they are useful.
Does zero volume mean nobody searches the AI term?
It means below the tool’s measurement floor. Treat it as too small to measure rather than nonexistent, and treat any specific figure quoted for it as invented.
How often should this be re-measured?
Quarterly. Which Semrush directory ranks is the fastest-moving signal here — a Denver city-level AI list appearing would be the clearest sign the market has moved.
Where did these numbers come from?
The Ubersuggest API, US location, pulled on 17 September 2026. The full twelve-city dataset is in the tables above.
